Chapter Two - Party Gone Wrong

Soojin and Yuri were currently getting ready in Soojin's dorm for the welcome party that was to be taking place soon. Now the two of them finally had time to debrief in person.

"Alright so spill. Gimme all the details about you and Minho stat." Yuri smirked as Soojin curled her hair.

Soojin sighed. "We may have kissed in LA but he was really awkward about it on the plane back so we're not going anywhere," she frowned.

Yuri's smirk faded away. "What do you mean?" she asked, worry evident in her tone.

And so Soojin told her best friend everything. She told her about how the holiday started swimmingly.

About how her and Minho hung out every second of every day and did the silliest things together.

About how her and Minho accidentally brushed against each other and leaned in too close whilst he placed a necklace around her neck.

About how they ended up kissing because of it.

And about how Minho said it was a mistake, it should've never happened and they should just stay close friends.

By this point, Soojin had finished curling Yuri's hair and so Yuri stood up and hugged her best friend. "Oh Jinnie...I'm so sorry." Yuri knew Soojin had liked her childhood friend for a while now so it sucked to see him indirectly turn her down.

Despite trying to not let her disappointment show on her face, Soojin hugged Yuri back. "It's ok. I'm just glad we're still close friends. I don't know what I would do without him."

"Well we need to show Minho what he's missing out on. Ok, you're gonna look even more hot than usual!" Yuri exclaimed as she sat Soojin down on the chair and whipped out a hairbrush.

Soojin giggled. "Alright, alright, enough about me and Minho. What's going on with you?"

And so, as she brushed Soojin's hair, Yuri told Soojin everything about what was going on with Juliana and why she had to fake date Dae.

"If only your parents could be a little more accepting of who you are," Soojin sighed. She watched firsthand at the extreme lengths both Yuri and Juliana went to hide their relationship.

Yuri huffed. "Tell me about it. Now you're missing your roomie and I'm missing the love of my life."

Soojin stood up and wrapped an arm around Yuri's shoulder. "She'll come back. I just know it."

"Let's hope you're right," Yuri frowned. "Ok, no more sad stuff. We gotta get ready," she said, her frown slowly turning upside down.

"Hell yeah!"

"I think we achieved the 'look hot' assignment," Soojin grinned.

Yuri laughed. "Well we were hot to begin with so it wasn't hard."

The two girls put on some accessories before getting ready to go. But Soojin needed to get something quickly.

"Hey, uh, go ahead without me. I need to grab something," Soojin said as she headed to her room.

Yuri nodded and left for the hall where the party was.

Soojin went into her suitcase and grabbed the matching set of a necklace and earrings. The same pieces of jewellery that Minho gifted her which led to their kiss.

She moved to the mirror and put them on, admiring herself.

'You got this. You're Yoon Soojin,' she mentally motivated herself.

And with that, Soojin made her way to the party, ready to face this semester at school.

When Soojin walked in, all eyes immediately

turned to her. It was like every person in the room, male or female, felt the sudden need to admire her beauty.

And, let's be honest. Soojin knew this. It only boosted her confidence as she strutted into the party, her head held high. If she could get through this night with Minho, the rest of the semester would be a breeze.

When she spotted Minho, she noticed a girl talking to him. Unwillingly, jealousy immediately filled her veins. She sped up her pace and tried to get to him as quickly as possible.

"Hey Minho! Q, it's been too long," Soojin grinned as she ran into Q's arms. She completely forgot about the girl and melted in Q's hug.

Q chuckled. "I missed you too Soojin," he smiled.

Meanwhile, Minho was frowning. "And what about my hug?" he jealously asked. When Soojin turned to him, he smiled and held his arms out for her.

Soojin huffed and turned away from him. "You don't get one. Besides, I hugged you a few hours ago," she crossed her arms and tried to hold in her giggle at Minho's disappointed expression.

"Wait I know where I know you from! I follow you on Insta," the girl exclaimed towards Soojin.

Whilst Minho was sulking, Soojin finally turned to the girl. "Hey you're that girl from the airport aren't you?" she asked. By now, all the jealousy had gone away and she was kinda intrigued by the girl.

"Yeah I am. I can't believe someone like you is friends with someone like...him," the girl said in disgust.

"I wonder why I'm friends with him too sometimes," Soojin playfully said as her new friend and Q chuckled.

But then Q stopped laughing and accidentally spilled Minho's drink on himself.

"Goddamn it Q, this is bespoke!" Minho exclaimed, his thick British accent becoming even more noticeable.

But Q tried to get him silent with some hand gestures. "Shut up about the clothes for a second. Look at our boy," he said as he pointed somewhere.

"No way that's Dae," Soojin said in shock.

Minho looked slightly taken aback but smirked. "Where did Dae get that suit?" he rhetorically asked.

"Yo Dae!" Q called.

The girl from the airport turned and seemed to recognise Dae. She slowly walked towards him before running into his arms. They hugged tightly, Dae even lifted her off the ground.

"Shit. This is bad," Soojin muttered. However, she spoke louder than she thought she did as both Minho and Q heard her.

Minho wrapped an arm around her shoulder before asking, "What's bad?"

Q looked intrigued as well whilst Soojin didn't really know what to say. She couldn't tell anyone that Yuri and Dae were gonna start fake dating today. So she just settled with:

"Just watch boys," she sighed.

Then, as Soojin's insta follower and Dae were having their little reunion, Yuri came up beside Dae and linked her arm in his. They exchanged some words and the girl ended up running off.

Although Soojin probably should've followed her, she didn't know her all that well. And, besides, Yuri was her best friend and even though this may not be the best way to do it, she was doing it for her and Juliana.

"You knew?" Minho asked Soojin. He seemed slightly hurt. Soojin couldn't tell whether it was because she didn't tell him or because Dae didn't tell him. She assumed it was the latter.

Soojin nodded. "Yeah Yuri just told me earlier today," she said. She wasn't exactly lying since Yuri did tell her she would be with Dae. She just left out the fact that it was fake.

"Woah, not saying Dae's ugly or anything but I did not think he would be able to pull the Yuri Han," Q ranted. He went on to say some other things but Minho wasn't listening.

He leaned down to whisper in Soojin's ear. "I can't believe you didn't tell me," he told her. Soojin could hear his slightly sad tone as clear as day.

"I thought Dae would tell you," she replied. Soojin tried to come up with realistic answers so he wouldn't question her further. She was amazing at keeping secrets but she had never, ever had to keep something away from Minho.

Minho let out a quiet gasp of realisation. "So that's why she kept spamming you whilst we walked onto campus."

Soojin nodded. "Yeah. I'm sorry I didn't tell you," she said, hoping he would forgive her.

He used his arm around her shoulder to pull her in closer. Soojin leaned back against his chest. "I'm not actually mad at you. I just thought we told each other everything, you know?"

"Ok, next time anything happens, I promise I'll tell you," Soojin smiled as she leaned her head back to look up at him.

"Pinkie promise?" Minho asked as he wiggled his pinkie finger out for her.

Soojin laughed. "Pinkie promise," she said affirmatively as she intertwined her pinkie with his.

"Glad to see you're wearing your amazing gift," Minho smirked as he jutted his chin towards Soojin's choice of jewellery.

Soojin brought her hand that wasn't interlocked with Minho's to her necklace. "It looked too good not to wear," she admitted, grinning at Minho. They both chuckled together and gazed into each other's eyes.

It was then that Q finally realised they weren't paying attention to him. "You guys weren't listening to a word I was saying, were you? God, just get a room already!" he exclaimed, exasperated.

"What!? No we're not-," Soojin started.

"Yeah exactly, she's just a friend," Minho finished.

'Just a friend...' Soojin sadly thought. Those words hurt but that was really all they were. Friends.

Before Soojin could think about what Minho said for any longer, the girl from earlier came strutting back into the party. And she was headed right for them.

Chapter One - Back To Normal

Soojin walked with Minho through the airport with her luggage in hand. After spending the break with Minho, she was ready to go back to KISS. The flight had been...awkward.

Long story short, Soojin and Minho kissed. And it felt like Soojin's dream was coming true. Until Minho told her it meant nothing. And then they went back to being what they were before. Close, childhood friends.

But for Soojin, nothing will be able to go back to the way things were. Not after that.

Suddenly, Minho's bag accidentally hit a girl on the seat.

"Excuse me!" the girl exclaimed as she grunted from the hit. But then she saw Minho's bag and started speaking in an excited manner.

"Wait do you go to KISS?" she asked before pointing to herself. "I'm going to KISS."

Minho huffed and bent down slightly to talk to her. "No English."

"Ok rude," the girl muttered.

He started to walk away but Soojin stayed. "Sorry about him. He gets cranky after flights." However, Minho called her over in Korean, causing her to cut her words short. "I gotta go now but maybe I'll see you at school," she waved as she ran after her best friend.

"Minho, you should really start being nicer to people," Soojin scolded.

Minho rolled his eyes. "I could count the amount of people I have to be nice to on one hand. But don't worry, you're one of them," he smirked looking down at her.

Soojin stared into his eyes before snapping herself out of her trance. "Your tricks won't work on me, playboy."

As Yuri was driving with Kitty to school, she decided to text Soojin.

any word from juliana ?

i'm getting really worried

Soojin sighed as she switched her phone off.

"Who were you texting?" Minho asked, his hand brushing against her thigh as they were sat side by side in his car. Was he teasing her on purpose?

"Just Yuri. I can't wait to see her, you know?" Soojin smiled.

Minho chuckled. "Yeah, I know. You couldn't stop talking about it on holiday."

Soojin playfully shoved her childhood friend. "Shut up."

As Soojin and Minho walked into school, Soojin got a shit ton of messages from Yuri.

Soojin switched her phone off again and placed it in her bag.

"Yuri again?" Minho asked.

Soojin nodded. "Yeah. She's just asking if we wanna get ready together for the welcome party," she told him.

He seemed to believe that all Yuri said since he scoffed and went, "Of course."

"I'll see you later, yeah?" Soojin asked Minho.

Minho smiled. "I'll see you tonight at the welcome party. Save me a dance."

"Sure," Soojin replied.

Minho wrapped his arms around her and pulled her into a long, warm hug. He didn't know exactly why but he just didn't want to let her go. Maybe he was growing attachment issues thanks to his shitty dad.

And with that, the pair of childhood friends split paths.
