I rather like Aztec mythology. Its pantheon of deities is fascinating and unique in many ways. A prime example is Tlaltecuhtli whose name translates to “Earth-lord”, and they’re basically the Aztec version of mother earth... kind of. You see, while most modern ideas of a “mother earth” type deity would have them being super kind and nurturing; the Aztecs acknowledged that sometimes nature is a jerk. As such, Tlaltecuhtli is quite blood thirsty... literally. You know the whole ���human sacrifice’ thing? This is one of the deities the aztecs did that for. If they didn’t their crops would die.

TL;DR - Tlaltecuhtli is a very hangry nature mom and the world would probably be better off if she just ate a snickers bar instead
