Peyton should have guessed anything to do with Robin's father. He should have brought something of his moms though he had nothing other than memories. Memories that were too distant to remember her on Valentines day. "We'll just inhale the bad fumes it emits."
He held onto the photo a bit tighter when she asked the question back. He couldn't lie to her because she would see him throwing it in. "It's uh..." He cleared his throat as he slowly pulled the photo out of his jackets pocket. "A photo of the.. girl I dated in Vegas." His voice was shaky when he spoke and he was quick to shove the photo back in his pocket.
"That's all I have." He said he held his hands out towards the fire, staring into it. @robinsantos
Robin warmed her hands on the flames of the pyre, the evening chill in the salt air burrowing deep beneath her skin and into her bones. She cuts Peyton a sidewards glance, noting that he was yet to produce what he would be burning, before relieving her shoulder of the tote bag she had carried and reached inside for the items that weighed the bag down in sentiment more than weight.
The first item is a bracelet her father had gifted her to buy her silence over his affair, she had worn it once but the metal felt like chains around her wrist. The second was a picture of Robin, Ravi and Sola in a dimly lit bar celebrating Robin and Ravi's engagement.
"I don't think the bracelet will melt but I want it gone one way or another." She returns the items to her tote bag, wrapping her arms around herself before nudging Peyton's shoulder and looking up at him expectantly. "Well? I shared mine, you share yours." @pytndyer

"Sorry," Peyton didn't bother looking up at the person who he felt hovering of his space. Some townies obviously couldn't read. "You have to sign up at town square." He stated since he had done it before his shift today.
"Can I do anything else for you?"

The picture that Peyton had been holding in his pocket had been so well hidden in fact, that he didn't remember he had it until he stumbled across if after cleaning out some things the other night. All he could think about it since he found it was: Vegas had been a hell of a time.
And some it needed to start burning. This was a good step. It was as if it was written in the stars. How corny.
"Well, what are you burning?" He hadn't asked Robin until now.

"I think it's fine." Peyton said but what did he know? It was not like he had the best nutrients growing up. "You could buy it now and have it for later. Maybe find somewhere healthier to eat for now." He suggested. "Just a thought." He said. He was definitely ordering the fruit pastry which is why he was deterring her away from it. @thegillyxliang
Gillian chewed on her lip as she looked between the cheesecake brownie and some fruity pastry...thing, both admittedly looking great, but... "Is it socially acceptable to have a cheesecake brownie at ten in the morning though? Isn't fruit usually the way to go?"

Peyton was quick to shake his head as he reached towards the dark brown purse and pulled it out. It was next to the hot pink one so he understood why she thought he pointed at that one. "This one." He suggested, but the one she had in her hand was good too. He was basic. "That one works though.". It wasn't his preference but he worked in a library, so basic was what he needed in a bag which was different than a purse. @xoimani
Imani had already thrifted half of her clothing, and realized she really no longer had a good purse. She needed one for day-to-day use. For school, for shopping, for everything. Standing and staring at the display she felt absolutely torn. Of course the hot pink one called to her, but she was trying to change her image. "That one?" She asked, gesturing to the bright colored one, with a sad smile. "It's cute... but I gotta get something professional." She reached for the black and tan bag.

Peyton didn't know why he did it, but there he was signing off the sheet for the telegram.
Anonymous.
He handed over the note to the attendant. He had marked off the single rose option with a handwritten original poem. He turned around, "Your turn." He stated towards Drew. "How many are you sending?" Peyton had done one and only one.

Peyton didn't know much about decorating rooms. He was sure she'd think his room was a complete mess. "Can you bleach it without ruining it?" He asked because he wasn't sure that was a good idea. "If you can bleach it, you should try it. Otherwise..." He trailed off as he'd hate for her to have to keep it stored. He didn't see it working if she didn't. "You might have to store it." @abcwithmsz
"Yeah... It just doesn't fit the vibe of the room." She sighed, looking at the crayola colored mat. She curated a lot of the colors of her room to be light and airy, allowing the kids a sense of calm especially on the more restless days. "You think I could maybe bleach it out or something? Tone down the colors? I suppose I could also just roll it up and store it away..." She mused, taking another look at the circular mat.

It was too late now. Peyton was in this situation. He should have minded his business but not getting ziti made no sense. He had to say something. "Uh," he wasn't that well versed in cheese, but he did enjoy what he knew, "mozzarella is always a good choice especially with a little bit of parmesan. What cheese were you thinking?" He hadn't heard that part of what she had been singing. @zarinamcri
"I guess that makes sense?" she says, glancing at the man, now aware that her song about the groceries for her dinner had caught someone's attention. " But you have a point, the meal is literally called baked ziti, so it makes sense to choose the ziti," she adds as she places the box of penne back on the shelf. Turning to the stranger once again, she asks, "Do you have any recommendations for cheese by a chance or?"

Peyton wasn't quite too sure why he said anything, but now he was here sucked into a conversation that he didn't want to have. He cleared his throat and shook his head, if there was one thing he hated. "It's the perfect amount of sweet." It was why he suggested it. "I promise." He gave a small smile. "If I'm wrong then you can come back and buy the more sugary ones." @missxrivera
Ramsey usually knew what she was doing when it came to her shopping but she had to admit she was pretty terrible when it came to food. She didn’t feel like holding up the line and so standing at the driftwood for a second too long was her nightmare. She paused a moment before glancing back at him and gave a small smile. “ yeah? do you think it’s too sweet? “

"Yeah, I don't know." Peyton stated with a shrug. He wasn't even sure if they were talking to him, but he was answering, weirdly. "If I were you, I'd definitely get that one." He points but then drops his hand quickly, "That's just me though."

Peyton liked the sound of that too. It did sound better. He couldn't help but feel a bit of guilt though since the two had fallen together once upon a time only to fall out. "I guess I'll have to make you laugh then." He said with a smirk because it was game time.
Peyton followed in suit. Yeah, it definitely had been awhile. He took in a deep shaky breath as he straightened up. "Yeah, yeah, we'll see who really remembers how to skate." He said as he started to glide. He needed to get the hang of keeping his knees slightly bent whenever he switched sides. "If I win, we're definitely getting burgers." @gracecromwell
Gracie couldn’t help but laugh, shaking her head as she adjusted her skates. “I like the sound of that—falling together sounds way less embarrassing than falling alone.” She flashed him a playful grin, her confidence already starting to build as she stood, her knees a little wobbly but steady enough to keep her balance. “And as for the bet, you’re on. But don’t say I didn’t warn you, I’ve got pretty good balance when I’m not laughing too hard.”
She rolled her shoulders, getting ready to move. “And hey, the food part? I’m always up for the reward. But if I win, we’re going straight for the greasy, comfort food. No fancy stuff—just the kind of food you can eat without worrying about your skates.” She winked, then pushed off a little, trying to glide just enough to prove she wasn’t as clumsy as she felt. “Now, let’s see who’s really gonna be the one eating their words… or their fries.”

Ouch. This was not the Lorna that Peyton knew back in high school. Why would she be? Years had passed and it was obvious that she thought the worst of him which was fair. He hated it, but she was fair to feel however she felt towards him. "It just might." His voice dry before he let out a small laugh.
He had the same sentiment. Anything could happen. He was trying to focus on the good things that could happen tonight. "If you do drink too much, please let me know if you need a ride." And he would keep an eye on her throughout the ball.
"No." Maybe he should have, but he wouldn't have known who to ask. "Did you?" He was a little curious to know. He didn't see why she wouldn't have come with someone. @dilcne
Lorna didn't know why she'd chosen to talk to him, but she supposed sometimes revisting the past wasn't all too bad. She didn't hold any malice against Peyton, despite the sarcastic tone that she used on him. In fact, a part of her had wished that things had worked out differently. However, there was no point in hoping for the impossible.
"Well, make sure your carriage doesn't turn back into a pumpkin by then." She said, to stay on theme with her references. That was the extent of her digs and witty comebacks. Her shoulders shrugged when he returned the question, because she really didn't know the answer. If last year ended up repeating itself, the person she wanted to kiss at midnight would be off with someone else, and she'd have to ring in the new year alone again.
"I'm not sure." She finally spoke. "It'd be nice to, but you never know what could happen. Maybe I'll break a heel, or drink way too much." Both possible, but both things that she tried to keep in control of. "Did you come with anyone?"

What did change his mind? He had made up his mind last minute. It could've been a mixture of Rowan saying he should go and well, something in him felt it was right to go out. "A feeling." That was the best way to explain it.
Looking down at his outfit, Peyton hadn't thought it would be too much. He liked the look and it seemed as though everyone else did too. "Thanks." He said with a smile. That compliment made him feel good.
"Guess you'll have to wear it to the next ball." There was bound to be another one. This town sure loved a formal ball.
Peyton laughed awkwardly at the mention of a dance. There would be no way. She'd had have to pay him millions to do that. "Uh, I'm up for checking everything out. I'm not too sure about that dancing though." He had to be honest. "We'll have to see where the night goes before I start thinking about that." @screamqueen-slater
“ what changed your mind ?” She asked tilting her head slightly out of curiosity. Kali knew that Peyton was pretty set in his ways and she did like that about him. He liked what he liked and it was easy to tell. This didn’t particularly seem like something he’d like but she was glad he was here, he looked rather handsome and it was nice to be able to talk to someone as easily as she talked to Peyton. “ of course. You always look nice “ she noted again with a shy smile. She complimented people often but sometimes when she said things to Peyton it had her cheeks feeling a bit warm.
“ thank you, I wasn’t sure. It seemed almost too fancy but I really like it. Makes me want to wear it again for something “ she noted because while she did like to shop, dresses were expensive. She didn’t like things being a one time use. “ Not too long. I haven’t checked everything out. Would you wanna come with me? Maybe I could convince you to have a dance later ?” @pytndyer

Peyton's eyes focused on her lips for a moment when she did that. He quickly looked up at her eyes again. She was pretty, just as many of Rowan's friends were.
"Hmmm.." Peyton trailed off while he looked around. Burgers were his go to but he needed to step out a bit. "I would be up for some tacos." He points towards the truck that's nearby. "Thanks for the offer, but don't worry about it." Something about that question made him feel.. weird. Treats from other people made him uncomfortable almost as if he didn't deserve to be treated to something.
It was those ugly roots of poverty. He knew it was fine if she bought the food, but he still had pride over the money he did have. He could afford the food for both of them and that was a lot different than it was for him over ten years ago.
"You good with tacos? If not, we can choose something else." @thelucexcaldwell
Moving to Aurora Bay over the summer had been a complete whim, mainly just to find her brother and spend more time with him, but now as the months went by, she'd officially found herself loving it here, and thinking of the little town as home--even if it was a far cry from Chicago. She'd lucked out too that her neighbor had practically become one of her best friends. Luce loved Rowan--even when she could be a little....chaotic. Like now. Running off towards whatever vendor had sparkly things. Oh well- the girls at least had location tracking for each other on, so she could find Rowan if need be later.
"Oh, um..." She bit her lip as she looked around and then up to Peyton. He was her neighbor now too, and Luce liked spending time with him as well, especially since his personality was so different from Ro's. It was like getting the best of both worlds, living next door to the siblings. And when she was just around Peyton, her own chaotic energy simmered down; a good thing, she felt. "Maybe we can get something to eat? What are you feeling? My treat for agreeing to be lugged around with us all afternoon."

It didn't matter. She was going to counteract anything he said with this one time that he had left her. There was no winning and they wouldn't get any further than where they were at now. He needed a smoke and his pack was in the coat he hung. He couldn't think of where his lighter was. It could be in the other pocket or it could be in his book bag. He was unsure.
He was now rubbing his temples with his palms before looking at Rowan once more. "Questioning? Really?" He had doubt she did that, but he wasn't going to escalate the fight any further. However, it didn't stop Rowan from doing so. He had no idea who his sister was right now. This was not how they normally interacted.
"I'm sick?" Peytons eyes narrow in on her as he starts to clench his jaw.
"You know what Rowan?" He said as he stood up from the couch and started towards the front door, "I hope you have a really good rest of your day with Sterling." He said as he went to put his jacket on. "I'm going to enjoy mine." @lonelyhcart
She’s almost amazed by the frustration she’s stirred in him, as if she’s the one responsible for these issues. Her dark eyes roll at his question; of course she was serious—she had been genuinely hurt by his actions, to the point that she had gone to great lengths to avoid him over the past few weeks.
A scoff escapes her lips as she rises from her seat. "Please, enlighten me on how it’s always my way," she says, her voice rising an octave higher than usual, while her long fingers run through her hair.
"And I don’t understand why it even matters at this point," she says, starting to pace the living room. "You weren’t there when I went out; you were nowhere to be found." The disappointment feels almost familiar, reminiscent of her childhood when she would check her parents' bedroom, hoping that one day her mother would magically reappear. "Do you have any idea how stupid I felt sitting out there, questioning everyone about you?" Maybe that’s what hurt the most—the blow to her ego, the realization that the one person she had in this world, the one who truly understood her, wasn’t even there for her because all she did was ever take from him.
But she was her mother's daughter after all..
Her pacing comes to a halt as her eyes narrow in on her brother. "You're sick," she says, noticing how easily he agrees with her statement, almost gloating at the thought of being like the woman they had both despised so much.

"I didn't think I was going to come." Peyton said it bluntly. He had gone over it a million times over his head even asking Rowan for reassurance despite the two not riding together. Having to stay up past midnight and being at a party - yeah, he didn't want to think about it. He was very much looking forward for the clock to hit twelve so he could go home. "Thank you though." It was something that he had thrown on.
Well, something he planned to throw on.
"You look great." He said with a smile as he did like the dress she had on. It was quite fitting. It gave scream queen. "Have you been here for long? Like checked everything out already?" @screamqueen-slater

Kalina was always a little over her head at these things. She never really wanted to make herself uncomfortable but the podcaster was never the type to sit around and wait for the new year to arrive. She liked big dresses and dancing. She loved seeing people she cared about and hoped she hadn’t gone to the ball only to not really see many of her friends. However Kalina paused and saw Peyton in the distance and smiled. She wondered if he came with Rowan or if last time had been the last time considering he was gonna leave them if they didn’t show up on time and his sister was left behind. She rushed over and stopped in front of him with a small smile. “I didn’t know you were coming. You look rather nice tonight “
