AUGH tailor made for me to start yapping. im gonna start tagging posts like this with #q oc talk for people who dont gaf btw, if anyone wants to filter it!

anyways these two get a bunch of the early stuff together because they both heavily inform each other's arcs. rosé radicalizes jonas, and jonas redeems rosé-- because yes, rosé is actually evil at first. she gets somewhat redeemed before they realize she literally has a whole ass bomb constructed. really it just comes from the fact that rosé is hurt, and too caring for her own good. all she ever wanted was to be understood by someone, but she's kind of the only person in the world who can do what she does. it makes her feel lonely and isolated.

jonas is very similar to her. both of them would start sputtering and vehemently denying it if someone pointed it out, but they've both got more cold, rational ways of thinking. he's sharp and resourceful and cunning just like she is, and because of that rosé gets... attached. clings onto him like a fungus. when there's a big fallout after her true intentions are revealed, he's the first person she goes to with a gunshot wound because she doesn't think the others will understand or help her. he does sympathize with her, and he worries about her.

he's known rosé to just come and go. she does what she wants and doesn't really talk about her life. but it's really easy to understand that she does care, she just sucks at expressing it. she seems to get angry at herself when she upsets one of them, and jonas is good at noticing things like that. he worries about her constantly. he even refuses a deal that would secure him financially for the rest of his life, as long as he turns her in. she makes him understand how terrible and fucked up the world is, because he was so sheltered before.

but they have a big confrontation, and he doesn't take her side. she's spitting and snarling and furious, and he just holds her and tells her he's here. and it's all it takes, because rosé was just scared. she just wanted to mean something in this big world that repeatedly abused her. it felt like an act of justice in her fucked up, traumatized brain. jonas understands. nobody's ever made the effort to understand.

and then he learns right after this whole absolutely insane situation that she is only FIFTEEN YEARS OLD and he adopts her on the spot. that's his little sister now. he takes a deal with the government with the rest of 'em to become "official" heroes in exchange for rosé's full pardon and cooperation, and that is a terrible idea that they end up all regretting (except for kumi) but it's out of care for her. she's their baby. ignore the domestic terrorism and various other horrible crimes. what crimes? did you hear full pardon? look at her little baby face! she's soooo smart :3

also they fight constantly it's their thing and i love them for that lmao. but they love each other dearly!! rosé makes sure jonas always sleeps with one eye open and that he's never safe with her around, lovingly

TEAAAAM SPECTRUM I LOVE THEM THEY'RE TEAM SPECTRUM (its a joke about them being color-coded but ALSO theyre all autistic. for the record every single one of them has autism)

basically the premise hinges around it being like 100-200 years in the future or so. alien life is extremely recent, like 30 years or so, and their introduction to the human race was pretty explosive. the universe is kind of within its wild west years and its a bit of a lawless land out there, with enforcement only being driven by planetary alliances-- and earth didn't have any! they were in a galaxy of sharks and they just happened to shed a little too much blood.

so at the time where the story starts, the war has finally calmed down, earth is beginning to forge alliances, and aliens (i plan on finding a nicer name for the group overall, because this is going to be a mean one) are reluctantly beginning to be allowed on-planet. except there's a political disaster going on with this whole new unregulated population, and the introduction of their technology which is very advanced. vigilante culture also rose as a response to the war, with kumi katsu--a war hero who was experimented on and mutated into having incredible super strength--at the helm. that and her little brother, akira! you've seen him.

and that's when the mc, jonas dubois walks in. he's an unemployed 19 year old just looking for a job, who just happens to pick up the wrong type of gun (it was intentional, he wanted attention) and ends up in the dead center of this whole vigilantism mess due to the most wanted hacker in the world, rosé, and her sweet and good-natured very big and strong partner hestia summers, needing his skills for their (rosé's) morally ambiguous work. except rosé seems to be hiding something...

so essentially, character guide

their designs are still undergoing constant rework, but im pretty happy with the main three!!! i've had these guys since like. 2019 i believe, they're my bread and butter

also the entire story is just one big critique on capitalism, fyi

ID LOVE TO YAP ABOUT MY OCS BUT I HAVE LIKE SEVERAL SETS.... do you want the cyberpunk vigilantes, the high fantasy guys, the low fantasy guys i havent even talked about, or the warrior cats. i plan on adapting all of these stories LOL

umm hmmmm... i feel like with like a mix of him already being kind of a germaphobe neurotic neat-freak and his kinda newly developed,,, extreme dedication to being polite and subdued, he just kind of ends up doing everything like. demurely. he can make eating messy slobbish food somehow look graceful and its a little impressive

the real answer to when they know theyve actually made real progress with him is when he just stuffs something in his fucking mouth like full on. loudly swallows that shit whole because he CAN do that he's a softshell and he did it in the show. it catches them so off guard the first time he does it in like 2 years because they're so used to gently poking fun at how he reserved he is

I wish Draxum and Casey's (Cassandra's) redemption arcs informed each other a bit. Like, if they learned to enjoy each other's company while they were working together, which would have allowed Draxum the impression that there are good humans. And of course, before he actually puts on the armor, he would easily dismiss any conflicting feelings about it because she's on his side. Of course any of the possible "good humans" would be in this group helping him

Then she betrays him, and so his bitterness towards humans is fairly renewed, but Mikey sets him back up and at some point during his outing at the carnival, he witnesses people exhibiting behaviors he'd appreciated in Casey in particular. Maybe with that he considers the fact that the humans who betrayed him were the ones he shared a goal with

And then Casey's conflict would more easily be traced back to the fact that this is the second time she's done this, and she's constantly felt guilty about hurting her friend the first time, and now she's reliving that guilt twofold. But she still has a chance to back out this time

Maybe after she betrays the shredder, she ends up moving in with Draxum, since she was presumably paid by the foot and wouldn't be able to afford her own apartment for the time being. This could also be a reason to place her closer to April, living in the same building, as we can assume they intended to have them be a pairing based on the stuff they'd laid down already and previous iterations
