the night is beginning to dawn over you as the chilly breeze makes you instinctively shift closer to the wall you’re leaning against, hugging the fabric of a familiar hoodie. as you bask in the white noise of car honks below the streets, the low murmurs of life surrounding you, the tranquility makes your erratic heartbeat soothe itself as you take in deep breaths.

you jolt a little when the door to the balcony twists and your heart nearly flies out of your throat. your eyes search for the person joining your space. before the words can come out, before they can formulate, a pair of hands immediately reach for your face. you let out a gasp as beomgyu’s hands are initially cold but they begin to warm as they meet your skin.

your eyes widen at the sight of his peering into yours but the longer you stare into his eyes, the calmer you feel–the calmer you make him feel. you can tell he’s been running with the way his breath stammers. his eyes blinking profusely, trying to convince himself you’re okay, you’re okay. thank god you’re okay.

you lap your hands over his and give him a nod. as if you understand what he’s saying without saying anything at all. beomgyu lures you closer to him and you oblige; as if your body moves on its own accord, like two magnets finding their way together.

in the deep hours of the night, it borderlines to near morning, you find that the space next to you is still empty. it wasn’t unusual but it did make you miss the warmth that should be next to you. to the best of your ability, you haphazardly swing your legs to the side to reach the floor. once you find your footing, you’re making mini steps out of the bedroom and mindlessly making your way to a specific room that you know that’s where he’s meant to be.

the low hum of music is present the closer you move down the hall and just as you reach the door, your body acts before you can stop it.

beomgyu turns the cheek at the sound of the doorknob twisting (luckily just before the beat drop echoes through his ears). he smiles a little and removes his headset, placing it next to the song mixer board and pushes himself up to–”hey... what’re you doing up?” he murmurs into your ears as he catches you, chuckling at the way you turn into putty in his arms just as you slide your hands around his figure and latch onto him, face buried to his chest.

“bed... empty...”

he snorts. “yeah, i still have stuff to finish up so i’m–”

“bed.”

“...augh,” he huffs, jolting a little when one of your hands dip beneath his sweater to press your cold fingers to his lower back. “okay, okay, in a few minutes.”

he doesn’t know if he wants to laugh or kiss you (he does both) when you peer up to him with a frown, eyes still closed. he kisses your forehead and lures you to sit with him; at least until he’s done saving his work with you on his lap and promises every few minutes he’ll be with you soon enough. (but right now, on his lap, eh, that’ll do)
