🎂Happy birthday!! Peter Lorre.
My favorite actor, the greatest actor in the world. Yes, he is the best.
For the first time in my life, I painted so many pictures for one person. He is so charming and awesome.

I like this idea. It's cute and weird. Ha ha. Happy birthday, Peter Lorre
When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie That's Amore
I actually had nothing planned for his birthday, so have this silly doodle that is thanks to my brilliant word association whenever someone calls PL moon face.

Ah, the figures are really well painted, and the colors are beautiful, which is very story-telling.
Wow these children book illustrations are getting out of hand. Anyway Happy Halloween~!!
Inspired by a piece by Frederic Varady.

"His face is amazing in its changing lights and shadows. It is, in the space of a second or two, pleasant, amused, sinister and sad. Interesting, clever, kind and smiling, that face. . . obviously cannot be cataloged with any other face in the world." - a journalist in 1935, about Peter Lorre.
What we really need is a Peter Lorre Flip Book, only it would have to be a digital/online one because just one set of pictures for one instance of Peter Lorre would comprise 10s of 10000s and even then you wouldn't get all of his expressions. Still. Anyone want to try? 😛
The above series of portraits was made in 1936 during the filming of Nancy Steele Is Missing! A studio photographer did indeed attempt to capture "Lorre’s outstanding ability to reveal psychological complexity as the varying emotions chase each other across those extraordinarily mobile features."
Peter is 32 in these pictures. Source
That top middle one is divine, and I'll always like the last one seen through the bars where he's all dejected - I could keep going about each of these. But this one below, I keep coming back to. Something especially compelling about it, or resonating with part of my psyche at this moment, I don't know.

ok I don't know why I can still feel pity for what happened to him after he died for so many years. :D I was really hurt when I read his biographySo I only read the beginning). Sometimes I fantasize that he will live longer or happier.

:D Look at that little fish, how cute it is. Everyone seems a little disgusted. Haha
Peter Lorre is really alive forever because of those animated images.
Congrats, you died! But worry not you get to live on as a fish.

amazing! You paint everyone so well, and I like your Bogart best!Beautiful colors, like great works of art
Gang of sters or something.
Did this last week to practice faces. All of the drawings are heavily referenced from the photos, because I wanted to get the features as close as possible, so later I can just use it as a cheat sheet on what to focus on and simplify. Then I just made it into modern art with the colors. I still rely on heavy blacks to hide my mistakes when I can’t figure something out. At least now I think I know how to draw George E. Stone… I think…
All references under the cut.
