Self-reblog but to add some more commentary - this video/PMV/animatic/whatever was like a year in the making in large part because I forgot it existed for a few months before coming back to it, but all the same. Kids love behind the scenes stuff so I'm putting some work in progress stuff under the cut, including the original thumbnails for when the fey mood originally possessed me and I had to shut myself in a room about it for like three days straight.

You'll note I originally was gonna do this in my more "standard" art style - the pivot to the more cartoony version was at the advice of a friend of mine who works in animation.

All assets were drawn in Procreate and assembled/animated in Procreate Dreams. Unfortunately due to the nature of me shuffling layers around a bunch I fucked up and managed to obscure Luis's lab key in the shot where Leon's rifling through his depression mementos and was too lazy to fix it. There was originally going to be a photo of himself and Sherry in there too, but I couldn't figure out how to make it recognizable for such a short shot.

You can tell I was learning to use this app for longer projects because my layers get less tremendously fucked up as the video goes on.

Practicing digital painting and drawing from actual references for once with a screencap redraw. I did this once before in like 2023 and I like to think I've gotten better at actually paying attention to what I'm doing.

An outfit reference for Vasilka's adventuring gear that I commissioned from @quantumvaudeville, thank you so much for your wonderful work! I wanted to give her the look of a ball-jointed doll with an outfit inspired by Gothic Lolita fashion - something soft, romantic, and demure. It's probably not the best-suited for hard travel, but she looks cute, right? The hooded cloak is a nod to the fairy tale of Little Red Riding Hood, from which I drew a great deal of inspiration for her character, as she is the textbook ingenue: an innocent young woman venturing into the world for the first time, ignorant of the many dangers lying in wait outside the protective walls of Kresk. Her clothes are an assortment of garments left by the villagers for her to mend. Sometimes, the original owners never return to claim them, so the Abbot permits her to keep the clothing for herself. The red hood is likely one that belongs to a hunter, as the bright color stands out against the drab backdrop of the forest. It helps to prevent hunting parties from accidentally shooting one of their own. The gold floral embroidery is of her own design, which she has worked on for several months during those periods when she has no other mending work to keep herself occupied. There are a lot of little nods to various fairy tales that I've worked into her design and backstory, which I'll discuss at length another time, but Little Red Riding Hood, Sleeping Beauty (or Briar Rose), and Rapunzel are the three most prominent stories that I drew from to inform her character. What sort of fate awaits her outside the Abbey's sheltering walls?

@quantumvaudeville drew me an Alloran inspired by those medieval tapestries of unicorn hunts. Gosh!

I do so love how varied Andalite redesigns can get, and the fact that at a few points humans in the series who half-glimpse one think they could be unicorns. In the first several books the Animorphs all describe Visser Three's host body as being dainty and delicate, too.

help me finally get top surgery

i’ve a history of homelessness, and thus my referral was delayed for literal years and then my NHS surgeon refused to even speak to me and insisted on transferring my referral to somewhere with an 18 month waiting list.

i’m not too proud to beg: i’m already 32 and i can’t spend the next half-decade waiting on the NHS to benevolently grant me surgery — not to mention that i can’t afford travel to fucking Manchester with my disabilities or my tiny income from welfare benefits.

so my only real choice is to raise the money this way, as i’m estranged from family.

please, please donate; if 200 people donated £50 each, i’d make goal and then some. this is extremely important to me, and i’ve already got a consultation with a private surgeon coming up in early August: i’d love to have the money on hand when i go.

Man people really liked that last thing I did, by which I mean I really liked that last thing I did, so I expanded on it a bit!! Mostly I'm just goofing off here but this was some really good practice with Shapes (cont'd) and also trying to be relatively consistent with character design from multiple angles.

You'll probably be seeing more of this from me in the future, be it more characters done up in this style or just lil' sketches. It's too fun for me to say I'm done with it any time soon.
