I am sad that more well known Queen writers are coming out as terfs. Nobody wanted this to be the outcome of the trans queenies’ letter, I’m sure, but I guess the bigots couldn’t help themselves.

I decided to make an account to focus on the transphobia problem in Queen fandom. I’m not in trans Queenies, but this has affected my enjoyment of the fandom over the past 2.5 years so I feel like it affects me similarly. (I am an enby, they/them pronouns please.)

The outcome of the trans Queenies’ open letter falls far short of what I expected when I saw it. Sadly I did expect there to be some hate as that tends to be what we receive purely for existing and being trans. But the failure by virtually everyone to examine how they have contributed to the transphobic atmosphere that affects many, many, many trans fans is so embarrassing both for the fandom and those people as individuals.

Trans Queenies wrote a respectful and thoughtful letter that was open to questions and responses. The actual response has been more transphobic goading. I know I am far from alone in feeling like this is a low moment for the fandom.
