Hey there lovelies! Today had some pretty great excitement going on! Chaos Dad popped his head out, Kristian's book got announced, our Ruibo put out a lovely song for us. All good news! Even though a lot of folks had peaks today, I know some of our crew is still having some troughs, so I wanted to send out a little reminder that it's okay to have bad days. It's okay to not be as excited as everyone else. It's also okay to be excited when others are feeling down. We are all individuals and we all have our unique experiences and struggles we deal with every day.

You don't need to compare your experience to others-- you're allowed to be exactly how you are right now. If you feel down, give yourself a hug, you don't have to come out of it right now if you're not ready, but if you are, there are plenty of things happening to give you some joy.

I was going to save this song for when I wanted to talk a bit about mistakes and dealing with them, but I think it's pretty applicable to any situation where we're feeling down. It helps keep me grounded sometimes when I'm not feeling up for things. Here's just a couple lyrics from: "It's Alright - by Mother Mother"

Chaos Dad is still fighting the good fight in the background and he hasn't told us to throw in the towel.

@roger-s-maracas - Right! Thank you. So, assumedly, you didn't have to translate the English into contemporary English and into the Persian, it was just the Persian you were used to? An older form of Persian?

@quirkysubject - Hello you! Omg my eyes fell out of my head when I saw your name. Thank you! So, 19th century. So, contemporary for the translators time, i assume. That is basically what my textbook went on to say. The "friends, romans, countrymen" speech in 8th form - OOoft not one of Shakespeare's fun work, that.

@plainxte - Yes research seems to be suggesting that a lot of translations (from English into a lot of languages!) happened 19th/early 20th century, and they match contemporary styles at that time rather than also copying the Ye Olde Middle English style into the era equivalent it was written in. And I don't blame them one bit. The Tempest.... again, not one of the fun ones, although it was the one the year above me got assigned for A Level English so clearly there's something in it to learn from hah. (We got Chaucer)

You know what I love about Freddie Mercury?

He was a genius musician who continues to unite people through his music, even thought he’s been gone thirty years. His voice still stirs emotion in me, my 94 year old grandmother, my 9 year old daughter, and millions of people around the world.

Freddie composed songs right from his heart and gave every single bit of himself onstage to entertain people. He was one of the rare human beings who changed the world through his art. He would probably scoff and try and downplay his contribution, but he has touched more lives than anyone will ever know.

This man composed poetry in the form of songs—like Bohemian Rhapsody and Somebody to Love—and gave us his heart and soul when he belted them out onstage, laying himself bare for us. He invited us into his heart and he gave us the best seat at the table—even if it was just for those precious moments during concerts.

He brings us joy, makes us feel less alone, makes us dance, makes us laugh, and even saves our lives.

Thank you, Freddie.

So I hope that you all know to exercise caution when experimenting with um. Unfamiliar toys, of the sexual variety? Always use plugs with a flared base or vibrators with means of retrieval, test sizing, use quick release knots or otherwise know how to untie someone easily? This fic may convince you to take care, if you don’t already!

Eppur si muove by @quirkysubject is all about one of those situations which is utterly hilarious in hindsight, but um. PAINFULLY embarrassing in the moment. It’s still gen! But absolutely mature …and genuinely funny.

01/22/2024 Daily Recap

Hey all! It's been a long day huh? I wanna apologize ahead of time, whatever sickness my kiddo had last week finally got me so I'm not feeling terribly well. I'm gonna do my best to articulate todays events for ya!

===Renew As A Crew====

So the very first thing I want to touch on today is updates from @renewasacrew. As you may have heard, they were going to be changing leadership as the shift in priorities changed from renewing to saving OFMD. That being said, the leadership change happened over this weekend with some hiccups (I don't know what the hiccups were entirely and I'm not going to speculate, if you wanna delve down that twitter hole you can, but having been in it for today I'd recommend against it for your mental health, and we don't want to be drawing a bunch of media attention to it) there's a lot of confusing information, and as we know things can get conflated fast if we don't have all the pieces to the puzzle-- let's not speculate and wait for the to come out with more info.

So what I'm focusing on today is @renewasacrew's message to please give them some time and practice some patience while they get back up and running. This also includes anyone you happen to know on twitter working with them, for example: @TheCozyPirate. Let's give them some grace, they've been steering us well so far.

The good news is, several folks, on tumblr: @iamadequate1, @quirkysubject, @asgardian--angels, On twitter: @havethisonelife @yougotoofast @Lcmwriter100, we have all we need to keep going for a few days while things get ironed out. (If I forgot someone please let me know, sorry I am half awake tonight)-- see the HOW CAN YOU HELP section below.

One thing I will mention-- we are moving so very fast right now. It's only been 13 days since the announcement that OFMD wasn't renewed, and we've accomplished SO MUCH. So when there's a lull, it's going to feel like things are standing still and maybe something is going wrong. Don't fall into despair, that's just how things go with negotiations. Take a break, take a breath, and just keep on Polite Menacing until we hear more from the leadership team.
