There is a little unknown secret in Minecraft Education Edition
You see, this version has a few exclusive chemistry blocks, one of them being the "Material reducer". This block can reduce blocks to their natural components.
Tumblr media
All these elements so far are real life elements, but there is one element in particular that separates from the rest:
Tumblr media
The "???" is an unkown element (or various unknown elements) wich it's atomical structure cannot observed in the element constructor. This elements appears in Redstone ore, Netherrack, End stone, Glowstone and Soulsand.
I really like this lore piece and really can't think of what the ??? element could be, maybe it could be something related to magic or souls? Since all those blocks seem to have unnatural properties. Also Redstone contains Uranium so yeah it's radioactive.

headcanon bits for minceraft (mostly end and nether stuff cuz im a dorky bitch)
- shroomlights have a symbiotic relationship with fungi in the nether. they grow alongside them (hence the glowy bits on immature nether fungus). They are seperate organisms from the other nether fungi
- while most other nether fungi are edible when prepared correctly, shroomlights are very poisonous (though not lethally so outside of high dosages). even the smallest bit causes mild-to-severe nausea and digestive issues, and any dose larger than a ping pong ball will cause intense vomiting and diarrhea. any dose larger than grapefruit almost always causes death via dehydration from the constant vomiting and diarrhea. when cooking with nether fungi, cooks must always be wary of shroomlight contaminants.
- ghasts are organisms with chitninous exoskeletons that often have details that make it look like a bloated, sorrowful face. the vast majority of their body volume is taken up by a gas-sac that is filled with a lighter-than-air, extremely flammable gas that the ghast absorbs and refines from the atmosphere in the Nether. the ghast can release pressurised bursts of this gas to move horizontally, and can release or build up gas to rise and lower itself. they have a small firestarter in front of their mouth, and can use this in conjunction with their gas to basically become a living flamethrower. in addition, ghasts secrete a viscious liquid from their tentacles (which are used to grapple prey and lift them to its mouth) which serve to restrain and limit movement in prey that it has caught. this liquid has incredibly strong alchemical properties regarding healing and regeneration.
- striders’ legs have a gradient of density, with the bottoms of their feet being dense enough to sink partially into lava, while about halfway up it starts becoming less dense so they can actually do that weird thing in-game where their legs are only partially submerged and they still walk somehow. if this is not physically possible please inform me, i dont remember anything from physics. ALSO striders have a seemingly-unnatural sense of balance, so they can carry themselves across the lava on two legs like this with minimal difficulty.
- slimes are highly adaptive, and change rapidly according to their environment (this one’s mostly inspired by Tinker’s Construct and their weird slime colors). This only occurs while the slime is alive, and inert slime will not shift colors or properties if it is introduced to a new environment. when in their most optimal conditions (very humid and dark), slimes are green and their slime has its typical properties of bounciness and stickiness. when slimes are exposed to the nether, they typically become magma slimes, which are orange in coloration and have slime that is highly reactant to heat, bursting in gouts of flame when exposed to any heat beyond that of a candle-flame. magma slimes that find themselves in basalt deltas can undergo a special reaction with the specific type of ash and stone that is found in deltas, turning it into a magma cube. magma cubes have a more rigid structure, more alchemically potent slime, and a segmented “exoskeleton” of hardened rock and ash. slimes that are exposed to high altitudes and thin air are blue, and their slime is extremely aerated, resulting in something similar to aerogel when allowed to congeal and after it is hardened. when in the end, slimes turn purple, and their slime acts as a “end magic sink” of sorts, preventing teleports and other such end magic feats from occuring while in the vicinity.
- endermen are genderless humanoids with a chitinous exoskeleton, sharp claws and teeth, and a mix of archetypically reptilian and insectoid traits. they do not reproduce, and simply come into being fully formed. therefore, there are no infant or adolescent endermen.
- endermen do not have most organs that other humanoids do. they do not require oxygen to breathe, and do not have respiratory systems. they do, however, have digestive systems, as well as rudimentary circulatory systems (their blood is lavender-colored). They do require sustenance in the form of food, but otherwise their bodies seem to be fueled by their ender pearl, which is always stored in a cavity within the center of their chest. the ender pearl is always slightly exposed within their chest, revealing a misty expanse that seemingly doesn’t have a limit.
- when endermen die, their blood evaporates into a magenta mist and their flesh crumbles to a purple-ish dust. their ender pearl remains intact, though. if it falls to the ground, an ender rose always sprouts from beneath it (inspired by the mod Actually Additions). ender roses are seen as bad omens in End culture, and if one sees an ender rose it is said that something deeply unfortunate will happen to them. if someone sees an ender rose as it grows, it is said they will die within the year. for this reason, people native to the End always avert their eyes when an endermen dies nearby. when an enderman dies, someone within their close family or friends is chosen or volunteers to bear the bad omen, uproot the rose, dry it and dust it, and release the dust into the void, alongside the pearl.
- ender pearls are high-demand black market items, as they are only accessible from an enderman dying. and typically when such happens, their loved ones prefer to release it into the void for the funeral ceremony.
- chorus fruits are always in very high demand, and cost exorbitant prices even when they are in season. this is because chorus flowers only bloom every 3 years exactly. chorus plants have remarkably few flowers, and after the fruit falls it rots extremely quickly, leaving only seeds. chorus fruits must be retrieved and treated with venenum (Better end is a cool mod and i like to incorporate interesting mods into my headcanon ok) before being sold. this is an intensive process that requires a shit ton of time and focus, and can’t be messed up lest a whole harvest be botched. because of their high demand and insane prices, the wealthy often flaunt their status and riches by having chorus fruit pastries and jams served at their dinners. chorus fruits are tangy and sour, but still have a good bit of sweetness to them as well. id best describe it as a mix between a kiwi, a grape, and a lemon, so it can be an acquired taste for some.
- when the chorus plants bloom, a festival is held across the entire civilised portion of the End, where citizens all hang bolloom balloons (Endergetic Expansion mod) everywhere and beautiful murals are made using aurora crystal shards. during most of the festival, chorus farmers are busy treating and preparing their harvest, but once they finish they are welcomed to the festival with great celebration for their efforts. farmers that botched their harvests typically opt out of the festival out of shame, but if they don’t they are often given condolences by the festivalgoers and wishes of good harvest next time.
- endermites and chorus trees have a mutualistic relationship, almost exactly the same as fig wasps and figs (if it aint broke dont fix it <3 evolution says its a decent strategy, so i say so too). with the one exceptiopn that the endermites dont die in the chorus flower, and they also don’t lose any extremities in the process of entering the flower. they simply get in, lay eggs and pollinate, then zip out. the endermite’s relationship with the chorus tree is actually what gives chorus fruits their signature property of randomized teleportation.
- golden apples, golden carrots, gilded melons, etc. must be made with a very specific process in which the edible-bit-of-choice is placed into venenum from the End, then one must add a very small amount of magma slime for both its caustic properties and for the fact that it is constantly having little mini-reactions and emits a small amount of heat at all times. then, gold which has been enchanted with a very simple matrix of xp must be added in small, controlled doses. after an hour or so of this treatment, the alchemical gold food is ready. enchanted golden apples require a combination of more advanced enchants on the constituent gold, and post-treatment enchantments on the finished product, and treatment must be supplemented with both a drop of ghast tear and a small globule of magma cream (different from the magma slime used in the base recipe)
- also xp is magic ill probably get into that another time when im less tired. ill probably get into how xp and refined magic vs primordial magic works and how that ties into the several societies and stuff another time.

One major difference between real life physics and Minecraft physics is fluid dynamics. This can be pretty clearly seen in the motion of water and lava, but people forget that air is also a fluid.
What if sounds in Minecraft don't work like normal sounds do? Maybe an enclosed space could function as a sort of "infinite source pool" for sounds. Maybe the loudest sounds can spend untold years bouncing off cave walls, slowly growing more distorted with every reflection. Maybe if you find yourself lost in the caves, you'll hear one of these sounds.

…do my Minecraft villagers think I can’t talk? The player never makes any noise close to language in-game…do they know that my little crouch dance means hi? Are they learning that when the strange flying one who doesn’t speak holds out armfulls of wheat to them that means they want to trade? Are they just used to being silently shuffled away from ledges by this cryptic protector who eats golden food and doesn’t seem to need sleep?? Why have I never thought of this before, the villagers must be so confused by dealing with me…

Minecraft flower headcanons
Headcanon that the meanings of flowers in Minecraft are different from in this world. Specifically, the meanings are based on the effects of a suspicious stew that the flower forms.
Dandelions and blue orchids are for Saturation. They symbolize calm, contentment, and a general sense of happiness and well-being. Dandelions tend to be seen as spontaneous and light-hearted while blue orchids are for more serious commitment, but both of them are fine gifts to show appreciation for a friend or loved one.
Oxeye daisies are for Regeneration-- literally giving you hearts! They symbolize love, in much the same way that roses do in this world. Together with dandelions and blue orchids, they're the only flowers that only have positive meanings. Whether romantic, platonic, or familial, an oxeye daisy is the most heartfelt way to say "I love you" in Minecraft.
Lilies of the valley are for Poison. They symbolize pain, bitterness, and heartache. Giving one to someone else is like a slap in the face most of the time: a threat, a rejection, a "Go fuck yourself" that turns a whole bouquet negative. On the other hand, wearing a lily of the valley yourself is a symbol of grief and deep mourning, a pain that cuts to the core.
(While few remember this, the "valley" in "lily of the valley" doesn't represent the area where the flower grows. No, it's for The Valley Below, a dark desert of screaming souls that claw at your feet, desperately longing to be spawned again into the world.)
Poppies are for Night Vision. They symbolize watching and being watched. As such, when paired with negative flowers, they can be seen as a threat or "Watch your back"; however, they can also mean "I'm watching out for you" or even "See you tonight."
(While few remember this, the "valley" in "lily of the valley" doesn't represent the area where the flower grows. No, it's for The Valley Below, a place of screaming souls that claw at your feet, desperately longing to be spawned again into the world.)
Cornflowers are for Jump Boost. They symbolize amazement, surprise, or awe -- literally "jumping for joy". People who win tournaments or games are often given a bouquet of cornflowers in celebration. Though this isn't common, when paired with negative flowers, a cornflower can sometimes represent shock or sudden betrayal, a very sarcastic "Congratulations."
Azure bluets are for Blindness. They symbolize secrets, hiddenness, and avoidance-- a "You didn't see anything." With positive flowers, this can symbolize a secret alliance or even forbidden love, but with negative flowers, it's a taunt, calling someone ignorant or oblivious. Often, someone who wishes to trap someone else or play a prank will leave an azure bluet so that the victim will only see it right before the trap goes off.
Wither roses are for Wither. They always symbolize death, hatred, murder, and intent to kill. To give someone wither roses is a serious declaration of war. There is no positive meaning to wither roses: without exception, they are for people you absolutely despise and wish to see suffer a painful death.
Tulips are for Weakness. This is an odd case, as the different colors are often associated with different connotations; however, any tulip can technically represent any of these meanings in the right context. A white tulip is for surrender; giving it to someone else is a demand for surrender, while wearing it yourself is like carrying a white flag. A pink tulip is for codependence and means "You're my weakness!" A red tulip is a taunt, calling someone else pitiful or weak, while an orange tulip is for a non-violent challenge or invitation to compete without fighting.
Alliums are for Fire Resistance. They symbolize resistance, staying strong, and defiance even in the face of overpowering odds -- "You're going through hell, but you'll get through this." They often also represent protection and a wish for someone to stay safe. Whether planted in front of an enemy leader's house for fellow fighters to see, or given to someone who has been fighting a battle of their own, an allium says, "Never, ever, ever give up."

I LOOOVVVEEEE the wardens sonic boom thing. Like this man is emitting sounds loud enough and at such a specific frequency that it not only pushes you backwards, but severely physically damages you, enough to kill in one or two blasts. Is this man just roaring at you? It’s not audible in game so I can imagine it’s either so low or high pitched we can’t register it. Obviously it busts your eardrums but does it also like rattle your organs around or something? You know when you go to a marching band or something and there’s those certain, lower instruments you can just feel the vibrations of? Is it like that? Is it his breath that pushes you back or just the sheer force of it? It is fact that loud enough sounds can cause enough pressure to bust open your organs. Plus it’s called a sonic boom or whatever so this shit’s going faster than sound normally should go. How does the Warden do this.

Guys...
I found seed 381464558332198228
Which has 3 (three) ancient cities within ~1200 blocks of spawn (and a fourth just a little further out)
As well as a WOODLAND MANSION LESS THAN 1000 BLOCKS FROM SPAWN
Mansion:

3 different ancient cities:

Ancient city #2 is completely full of mineshafts. I thought the deep dark wasn't supposed to spawn mineshafts???

Ancient city #4:

The deep dark is also literally directly underneath spawn and, as you can see, stretches far and wide from there. Good luck I guess

Bebagerie’s Hermitcraft Elytra Masterpost!
Over the past year or so I’ve built a pretty complicated stack of Elytra headcanons and, after the lineup of everybody’s different wings, it felt right to put a full info post together. Mostly for my own sanity, but I hope you all can find it interesting too!
Now,
What are they?
found in end cities, sometimes on preserved or pinned beetles, sometimes already removed
wing casings of a mysterious end beetle, suspect to be extinct or otherwise difficult to access
casings themselves have an unexplainable magical property
Tumblr media
How do they work?
they connect with a user’s soul and/or existing magical bonds
must be attached to an article of clothing or something similar in order to form wings, cannot root in a body without natural wings
those With natural wings, whether present or predisposed, can root elytra wings into their bodies naturally
elytra forms are unique to every user, but the physical wings of most elytra users are bug-like
they must be attached to their root at all times, pockets are not reliable so most hermits take up the practice of decoratively embroidering the casings to their chosen root (similar to 18th century beetlewing work)
Tumblr media
Roots
without natural wings, an elytra cannot attach properly to a user. while its possible to forge a makeshift attachment, historically it has been easier and more effective for a player to choose a ‘root’ for their elytra
like previously mentioned, a root is most commonly a clothing item and may be found as a harness, backpack, scarf, or any other article close to a user’s core
naturally winged players do not need a wearable root, and will often instead attach their beetle wing shells inside a pocket or sleeve
Tumblr media
Elytra Damage + User Effect
non-natural elytra are not connected in any way to the user’s body, so damage to an elytra does not hurt the wearer
naturally winged users feel pain in their wings regardless of an elytra, but the elytra serves like an enhancement (in a way) and will assist in the healing process
elytra wings cannot be directly torn, broken, cut, etc. and will self-heal if attempted, elytra damage is found only in the shells themselves which can be cracked, broken, or lost
somehow, they can be repaired like any other tool, it just takes meticulous care considering the scale of the wing shells
Tumblr media
Function + Modification
because they are unique to the user, elytras properly suit every hermit equally. they aren’t flawless, and of course they take some learning, but the base “stats” are the same for everyone
redstone-oriented players tend to tinker or modify their elytra in a number of ways, some are purely aesthetic, provide easier control or increase the utility of their wings
building a strong ‘connection’ with an elytra takes some time, there is a learned element to them like any other tool, especially for those without natural wings, so some newer players tend to stick with gliding and struggle to move their wings as an extension of themselves
Tumblr media
Additional variation
on hermitcraft itself, naturally winged players are inhibited by limitations set to keep things fair. those with physical grown wings will have small, unusable wings without the assistance of an elytra
it is not uncommon for an elytra to change appearance with its user, due to the connection between their body and the wings formed
if a root is borrowed or traded, it will maintain some remnants from its original user which may effect the wing’s form, however for all intensive purposes the physical appearance of wings will come from the user and not the root or shells themselves.
other servers have varied rules, but in a regular ‘survival’ setting, players with natural wings may grow full wings but are not able to use them for proper flight
I’m happy to elaborate or answer any questions, my other thoughts and designs can be found in my ‘headcanons’ tag, and I’m sure this doesn’t cover all of it but this was the easiest way I could think to sum it all up!

More villager headcanons!
- In villager folklore, cats are said to chase away bad dreams. This is most likely stemmed from cats warding off creepers and phantoms.
- Young wandering traders, as they first leave their village to embark on their nomadic lifestyle, often engrave their names on trees/signature or designated landmarks in the village as a goodbye. Many rebellious teens want to become wandering traders to seem brave and cool, but few actually go through with it. Or survive it.
- There are many nursery rhymes and folk stories told to young villagers that have a common message of not leaving the village, especially late.
- Clerics or Librarians are often seen as the leaders/decision makers - though typically there are no actual concrete leaders of a village, every decision is made with a community vote and it’s sort of just like a very large family - but clerics and librarians are seen as important heads of the village due to the clerics being healers and generally trustworthy people that tend the sickly, pregnant or newborns, and the librarians typically being in charge of teaching the youngsters basics such as how to read, write and do basic mathematics.
- Golems are often tended to and repaired by the blacksmith. When a golem ‘dies’ (breaks), children will plant poppies around it’s dead form as a goodbye.
- When a villager dies, the whole village will mourn, due to most villages being small enough in size that every villager knows one another very well. The rest of the village will pitch in to help the close loved ones of the dead villager deal with their grief, such as delivering gifts, comforting words and baking/cooking food & doing errands for them. Villagers will bring poppies and cornflowers to the dead villager’s grave. Villagers are mourned the same way when they are zombified.
- When a baby villager is born, it is a village wide celebration. Adult villagers will often bring gifts for the new parent and the child, and will exchange advice and congratulations. The cleric will attend to the baby and parent’s medical concerns before and following the birth. Children will often want to come and meet the new baby.
- Raids are extremely catastrophic and any villages nearby an afflicted village will often be thrown into a state of great anxiety, elder villagers insisting children follow even stricter curfews and all villagers staying within the bounds of their village as well as golems being particularly protective. Rumours will often spread as well, and generally it is a tense time and they will not be as warm as usual to newcomers. Often wandering traders passing by are the ones to bear news to the neighbouring villages in the area.
- Villagers bring one another gifts and food as a sign of love. A villager’s nose will flush up when they blush, giving them a ‘rudolph’s nose’. Courting villagers peck/nuzzle one another on the nose as a romantic gesture.
- There’s often a roster between villager children of who feeds the cats and various other chores. Farmers, fletchers, shepherds, butchers, ETC will teach the youngsters various life skills and also get them interested in what career they’d like to choose.
- Teenage villagers are often rebellious and dare eachother to do frightening/dangerous things, like go into a cave, go out at night or even go near a pillager outpost’s territory. This is severely frowned upon by the elders of the village, and when they’re up to mischief, the adults will send a golem after them to keep an eye of them to stay out of trouble.
- Villagers are often named after foods, flowers, items in nature, animals, colours, etc. E.G ‘Buckwheat’ ‘Carrot’ ‘Poppyseed’ ‘Sweet’ ‘Berry’ ‘Apple’ ‘Pebble’ ‘Oak’ and so on.

Headcanon: Caartographer villagers are retired wandering traders, hence why they know the lay of the land so well. Young villagers often come to them to ask them for stories about the adventures they went on in their youths.
