Another aesthetic for my wlw YA fiction series! This is THE NAVIGATOR’S TOUCH by Julia Ember @huntingforunicorns
This is sort of alternative villain origin story of Captain Hook, if she was a viking shield maiden lesbian in love with a mermaid. Yes, it’s as awesome as it sounds. I loved this even more than the first book, The Seafarer’s Kiss. The two books are really independent stories, so you don’t have to read the first one to understand book 2 at all.

Strange Grace || 18 September 2018
Once, a witch made a pact with a devil. The legend says they loved each other, but can the story be trusted at all? Find out in this lush, atmospheric fantasy novel that entwines love, lies, and sacrifice. Long ago, a village made a bargain with the devil: to ensure their prosperity, when the Slaughter Moon rises, the village must sacrifice a young man into the depths of the Devil’s Forest. Only this year, the Slaughter Moon has risen early. Bound by duty, secrets, and the love they share for one another, Mairwen, a spirited witch; Rhun, the expected saint; and Arthur, a restless outcast, will each have a role to play as the devil demands a body to fill the bargain. But the devil these friends find is not the one they expect, and the lies they uncover will turn their town—and their hearts—inside out.

What are some of your non-bookish hobbies?
I recently got into plants. Yep. Plants. For YEARS I thought I had a purple thumb and couldn’t keep anything alive but I’ve learned that it was mostly just a lack of knowledge about certain types of plants, so I’ve been doing my research and inadvertently turned our dining room into a greenhouse 😂

It’s been a long time since I made / updated my f/f YA aesthetics thread, so here’s a new one!
I just read THE SPY WITH THE RED BALLOON by Katherine Locke and I loved it. It’s a companion novel rather than a sequel and SO MUCH MORE GAY THAN THE FIRST BOOK.
My aesthetic is for Ilse Klein – magical scientist working on transmitting messages, bombs and people via red balloon in World War II. She has a female love interest and it is awkward, and cute and perfect.

THE NAVIGATOR’S TOUCH by Julia Ember (September 13th; companion story to THE SEAFARER’S KISS)
After invaders destroyed her village, murdered her family and took her prisoner, shield-maiden Ragna is hungry for revenge. A trained warrior, she is ready to fight for her home, but with only a mermaid and a crew of disloyal mercenaries to aid her, Ragna knows she needs new allies. Guided by the magical maps on her skin, battling storms and mutiny, Ragna sets sail across the Northern Sea.
She petitions the Jarl in Freisia for aid, but despite Ragna’s rank and fighting ability, the Jarl sees only a young girl, too inexperienced to lead, unworthy of help. To prove herself to the Jarl and win her crew’s respect, Ragna undertakes a dangerous expedition. But when forced to decide between her own freedom and the fate of her crew, what will she sacrifice to save what’s left of her home?
Inspired by Norse mythology and J.M. Barrie’s Peter Pan, THE NAVIGATOR’S TOUCH is a tale of vengeance, valor, honor, and redemption.

DIVERSE LIT MEME: » LBTQ+ characters / relationship + characters of color: Under the Lights by Dahlia Adler
She tastes like vodka and lip gloss, sweet with the tiniest bit of bitterness, and it’s perfect. All of it. I know it should be weird, and I should feel weird, but I just feel… good. And so does she.
