Why do my interests in canning, couponing, and homesteading overlap so often with blogs with titles like ‘The Obedient Housewife’?

unsung benefit i think a lot of ppl are sleeping on with using the public library is that i think its a great replacement for the dopamine hit some ppl get from online shopping. it kind of fills that niche of reserving something that you then get to anticipate the arrival of and enjoy when it arrives, but without like, the waste and the money.

i don't have a specific person that I admire these days tbh! it's more like groups. people who live with creativity and open-mindedness at their sides, people who live unashamed of themselves, chasing distant goals with faith they'll make them

or really i admire people who have the things i struggle to keep ahaha

I'm gonna pass on this one cause that'll be telling of my age 😅 but I think the reason my favourite bedtimes stories were my favourite is because of how my parents would read them to me; they really brought the book's world to life alongside the pictures

ohhhh that's a tough question for best childhood memory...

i think it'll have to be the time i was the lead villain in the school musical. i am a bit shy showing off my acting/singing skills to people I'm not close with (and even people I am close with) but I can do a decent job! It took a looot of coaxing from my family to do it (and i had to practice in front of them when i got the part which felt very awkward), but ultimately I had a really good time!

nowadays, it's a bit tough to rustle up the motivation to try out for a casual theatre thing. i almost always end up regretting not trying when i see my peers get the spots they want, but i just can't seem to find the courage - -;

Taras Shevchenko and Ira Aldridge by Heorhiy Melikhov, 1963

Famous Ukrainian poet and artist Taras Shevchenko befriended the African-American Shakespearean actor Ira Aldridge, while the latter was on tour to the Russian Empire in 1858. Shevchenko did his portrait in pastel. It is recounted that the two men got along very well. While posing for the portrait, Aldridge sang African-American songs to Shevchenko and in return, the artist taught him Ukrainian songs.
