It’s very true that you can’t judge a person if you haven’t had to face a similar situation. I could never blame Varian for what he did when I was in the amber because he’s my son and he regretted it but I can’t say I wouldn’t have taken similar drastic actions if our places had been reversed. I’d do anything for Varian.

Which is your favorite episode and character of Moral Orel? My favorite character is Orel he is just a sweetheart.

modern Quirin: It’s not really my type of show, but I like the end lesson in the zombie episode, though I could have done with less bloodshed and deaths. Orel is probably my favorite as well because he’s a very polite well meaning boy and that makes me think of Varian. His father Clay is an absolutely horrible however who treats his sons badly and I don’t like that.

How do you think your relationship with Frederic is like now?

Well, it’s pretty good. I’m afraid King Frederic doesn’t like my son much, and that has put a little strain on our relationship, but I still consider him my friend as well as my king. Maybe he and Varian will work things out someday...

Has Varian ever gotten in trouble with you burning down all the candles? Has either of you been known to fall asleep before putting the lantern out? If you could scent a candle, what would you scent it with? Are there fireflies in Corona?

Varian has burnt a lot of candles, staying up too late studying and experimenting, that’s why I’ve bought extra. Sometimes he falls asleep while a lantern is still lit. I would like it if a candle smelled like cinnamon, we use that a lot in our apple recipes. And there are fireflies in Corona, Varian was fascinated by them when he was little. He asked me how they glow and I didn’t know the answer. (Still don’t. Much of science is a mystery to me. I don’t have the knack for it, unlike my son.)

Would you be fine with Varian staying single for the rest of his life, and thus you not getting grandchildren?

It’s better than him hooking up with Cassandra. I’m not going to rush Varian, but grandkids would be nice.

Quirin, do you prefer Edmund or Queen Arianna?

They both try hard to be good leaders. I admire Queen Arianna for her patience and forgiveness, so I suppose I prefer her slightly.

Probably an odd question, but does Varian ever fall asleep in your arms?

He did when he was little. I’m still strong enough to carry him, so if he overworks himself now, I can just pick him up and put him to bed.

But what makes Vardaros more interesting is how it ties to Cassandra... being pathetic.

As someone pointed out, you're telling me that there's a city where Cassandra fits in perfectly, one where the citizens praise her immensely while treating Rapunzel like dirt, and is only a week away from Corona, her father, and her friends, and yet instead of giving it a try she instead chooses to betray her former loved ones, attack her home kingdom, and endanger numerous innocent people!?

Yes, why didn’t she just go there and live my family and friends alone? I’m sorry for all the other citizens she attacked. There were children fighting her. Kiera and Catalina are brave kids, but they shouldn’t have been put in danger.

Do you know Vardaros, Quirin?

Back in the day, Vardaros had a bad reputation so we didn’t really trade with them. But since Rapunzel and Eugene have fixed things up, it’s now a pleasant place to visit. I should take Varian there sometime. He loves road trips.

The language is harsh, but it gets the point across. I would probably try to be a bit more tactful to Frederic because I know as a father and a leader he is under pressure and must balance the needs of his family vs the needs of everyone but to Zhan Tiri and Cassandra, I would absolutely direct this song at them.

See this Hal fellow? He’s why I don’t want Varian to have a boyfriend or girlfriend. What if they’re some possessive, egotistical psycho? I don’t want my son getting his heart broken.

Roxanne and MegaMind are good characters though, lovely couple.

Modern Quirin, do you watch MHA. If so, who is your favorite character?

Anyone not named Endeavor. What a despicable excuse for a father.

I am partial to Iida because he is a dutiful class representative and Midoriya because he’s a hard worker and All Might because he embodies the true spirit of a hero.

And again, Endeavor is really bad. I cannot stress that enough. (i’ve seen this show with Varian enough that I know who to hate.)

What did Varian get you for Christmas this year? And what did you get for him?

Varian surprised me by revamping the cider press. It’s much faster now. And I got him a new backpack to carry his alchemy equipment.
