My interpretation of REVA in Once Human

In the game, your character is almost indestructible.

Almost.

While most shooting weapons ricochet off your body, blades aren’t able to pierce your strong armored skin, and blunt weapons bounce off—you still can get hacked by technicians and hackers if you aren’t careful. Enemies, while not on par with your growing levels of experience in the field, can be stealthy enough to ambush from behind. And you can still get hacked from a long range by an enemy NPC using a device to corrupt your system, causing overheating, short circuiting, temporarily blindness, etc., while your own body fights against their control.

And your character runs on biofuel, so you still need to find a way to feed and hydrate yourself, either by hunting animals (or humans, doesn’t matter), scavenging for scraps, stealing or buying from vendors. Take into account if you adopt children or are accompanied by companions and have them traveling with you, they require food. YOU will have to FEED them if they are unable to hunt for themselves if: injured or disabled, or don’t have experience or skills in hunting or scavenging.

When fighting other androids, remember they can be stronger and faster than you, depending on your experience level when encountering them. If you fail to disable the protocol coding from their system, they become hostile towards you and your friends when they wake up from their life pods.

But at the end of the day, you can still heal and recover.

You could create your own character in the game with a full range character creator, along with choosing the ethnicity, appearance, clothing style, etc..

There’s a unique naming system where, by applying the words describing your character (revolutionary, agricultural, mechanical, medical, combat, etc) you basically can shape up your android’s purpose. They can have an efficacy in gardening or botanical knowledge, or they can assist with medication and dietary changes, or can be a combative robot. Or maybe a mix of everything, depending on the words you pick.

Then the game will create a name for your character as an acronym, like “REVA”.

To further promote the theme of identity, you first start off as either “male” or “female” in appearance, which also includes the respective reproductive organs. Not that your android can have children (yet), but it helps you hide among people who wouldn’t want to interact with an indestructible robot that mimics a human.

As you progress through the game, interacting with humans of different races and backgrounds, you have the option of changing your identity, or “persona”. You simply walk up to a mirror, and you get to change your gender (not physically), pronouns, and whatever else.

You can visit body modification shops, barbers or accessory stores to change your body in any way you want, physically or fashion-wise.

Not only does this help you blend in better, but also helps you become…human, in a way.

It would also be funny if you can make yourself thicc as possible in the character creator at the beginning of the game.

NPCs in the game would have their own comments about your appearance, from how bizarre you look to being flustered about your “assets”, depending on their preferences.

You meet a wide variety of companions from different ages, cultures, and identities. Some of them you need to complete character quests to gain their trust, which would unlock personal quests upon gaining enough affirmation approval.

You can romance them, adopt children, and even tame any animal or creature in the game, not just dogs or cats.

In the far future…

REVA (Revelation Evolutionary Vessel of Advancement) is the product of a group of people who call themselves “Edenians”, who plan to destroy all of humanity in order for the world to heal itself into “New Eden”. “Project Rebirth” is their plan: by creating androids that are near impossible to destroy and basically unstoppable forces of adaptive and learning A.I., they have killing machines that can wipe out entire civilizations (think of terminator).

After that is done, bombs are then planted in various cities and towns to destroy all infrastructure and buildings to allow nature to grow back in those areas.

Now the world can grow without the interference of humanity and the androids don’t have the same “sense of entitlement” and free will as humans do, so they won’t do acts of malice on purpose. And because they are also designed to actively help the Earth grow into “New Eden” with knowledge of agriculture and animal welfare.

The Edenians have some common sense on coding the robots into following protocol to prevent them from rebelling. Except one…

Reva wakes up in a life pod within a destroyed apartment complex in the former USA, a decade after World War 3. She is left with a holographic message by her creator, who believes that the Edenians are making a huge mistake by wiping out the remains of humanity. She instructs Reva to find her “brothers and sisters”, who are in secret research labs all around the globe, before the scientists do and—

The message is cut short by the Head Edenian scientist shooting her creator from behind.

Emerging from her life pod’s hidden location, she finds splintered clans of raiders and survivors alike, trying to survive from the aftermath of the war. Terrorist groups are still rampant throughout the world, spreading their influence and destruction. The world has struggled to heal for so long…

Reva embarks on a quest of choosing her own destiny: will she save or end humanity?

Her choices will heavily affect the world around her and the companions she befriends.

The other androids are in hidden research labs all around the globe.

Reva will need to find them all and hack their coding before the head scientist decides to activate the protocol and wipe out humanity,

While also stopping World War 3 and cleaning up the aftermath.

She will learn who she is, and form her own identity.
