Odin’s Son, Tyr’s Son by PeaceHeather - Loki & Tyr (Norse Mythology) - Marvel, but heavily borrows from Norse mythology. Tyr decides to intervene when Odin allows the dwarft to sew a teenage Loki’s mouth shut, and Loki, through pain, whump, hurt/comfort, and family feels, finds himself an actual Dad. Warning for graphic depictions of the aftermath of torture and for violence.

Tapestries by Lise - Loki & the Odin family - Wherein blunt force trauma has real and measurable consequences, the rest of the Odinfam is atleast willing to Try, and Loki gets thrown into an Asgardian healing room instead of a cell. Angst, coupled with hope for rebuiding burnt bridges between Loki’s family, follows. Warning for mentions of torture and high-key suicidal ideation.

Fate’s Guardian by PeaceHeather - Loki & The Avengers Team - Roughly a year after the events of Thor: The Dark World, the Norns decide to intervene quite literally and allow Loki to tell Odin, Thor and the Avengers his side of the story. About as dialogue heavy as you’d expect it to be, but trust me when I say this is A Read™.

like a tear on a cheek by bereft_of_frogs - Loki & Heimdall - it is a newly-banished Heimdall that finds a not-exactly-dead Loki in Svartalfheim, and tries to convince Loki that maybe, just maybe, his life is actually worth saving. The angst is glorious and I mean it. Warning for high-key suicidal ideation.

Intervention by Asidian - Loki & Thor & the Avengers Team - Wherein Odin is a fucked-up bastard with zero (0) moral qualms against torturing people for years on end, Loki suffers for it, and Thor and the Avengers try to do what they can. Warning for very graphic depictions of torture and its aftermath.

I’m Peter by GalaxyThreads - Loki & Peter Parker - Spider-Man talks to Loki on the roof of a building one night, not knowing it’s Loki, and it eventually blossoms into a lovely friendship. The FEELS. And the FLUFF. They’re perfect, your honor.

A Queen’s Gamble by for_darkness_shows_the_stars - Loki & Frigga - In a universe where Frigga is actually a decent parent, it’s Frigga who goes to Midgard when Loki shows up in the Avengers. This changes everything.

Castaway Getaway by PeaceHeather - Loki & Tony Stark - Loki gets banished to the wilderness of Alfheim as punishment and Tony gets dragged along, except they turn it into a vacation as a fuck you to Odin and become friends. Loki & Tony do what they want and it’s glorious.

The Blood of My Enemy Stains My Hands Now by GalaxyThreads - Loki & Nick Fury - Nick Fury accidentally becomes Loki’s Dad. Much more angsty than my description implies, and Loki, as usual, suffers, but Nick is surprisingly good at being a dad, and the hurt/comfort is immaculate. Warning for implied/referenced torture.

Stygian by GalaxyThreads - Loki & Avengers Team - Loki gets blinded in SHIELD custody and the whump that follows. The found family and the feels are Real in this one, and so is the whump. Warning for aftermath of torture.

Pleas to the Stars by JaggedCliffs - Loki & Frigga (in absentia) -  No one told Loki that Frigga was dead. Thor thought of another way to stop Malekith without Loki. Loki misses his mother, and wonders why she won’t come back. Written as a series of letters from Loki to Frigga. The angst is immaculate in this one. Warning for self-harm and suicidal ideation.

Detachment by black_feather_fiction - Loki & the Odinfam - Thor’s banished, Odin asleep, Asgard’s at war, and Loki has the brilliant idea to vivisect himself. Here’s the thing, though: it’s not a brilliant idea to vivisect yourself. Another complete tear-jerking whump-fest. Warning for suicide-attempt, self harm, dissociation… honestly just see the tags please.

Canon-Divergence, Ragnarok/IW/EG:

Picking Up The Pieces by Thursdays_Angel - Loki & Thor & the Stark Family - While returning from Titan after failing to stop Thanos, Tony and Nebula find a not-exactly-dead Loki amongst the ruins of the Statesman. Hurt/comfort, recovery, fluff, and found family feels follow. Oh, and Loki becomes Morgan Stark’s favourite uncle.

Chaos Reign by fourth_rose - Loki & Asgard - follows the Alternate 2012 Loki as he finds himself the rightful king of Asgard in a twist of fate, burdened with the responsibility of preparing the Nine Realms against Thanos. The worldbuilding and politics is frankly stunningly amazing, and the characterization is On Point, and utterly glorious. 

Let Me Know If It Gets Above A Six by Sundial_At_Night - Loki & Peter Parker - Post-Avengers: Endgame where nobody dies/everybody lives; Peter and Loki become friends. Top-tier fluff and hurt/comfort ensues.

Discolored by GalaxyThreads - Loki & Hela & Thor - Thor finds a different way to escape to Svartalfheim, which means that Loki is never freed from his cell and Hela finds him there, turned into barely a shell of who he once used to be in his grief, when she arrives. Sibling feels ensue. The POV is Hela’s and it’s beautiful.

for a hundred visions and revisions by aventria, iluxia - Tony Stark/Stephen Strange & Loki - Stephen comes to the conclusion that the outcome of Avengers: Endgame was Decidedly Not Okay and does something about it, which means getting a particular Norse god to erase this reality so they can start all over again. While the main pairing of the fic is Ironstrange, Loki, who doesn’t have a romantic paining, is a main character and the way he’s written is probably one of the best Loki POVs I’ve read in my life. The plot moves very slowly and the worldbuilding is heavy, but if that’s your jam then lemme tell you this fic is much better than a significant amount of published works. Warning: contains graphic depictions of violence and major character death. INCOMPLETE

Canon Divergence, Thor-1/Avengers/TDW:

Orestes by AuBlanc - Loki + Tony Stark - Loki, instead of being found by Thanos, crash-lands straight into Tony’s mansion, utterly catatonic and on the verge of death. Loki gets the chance to recover (albeit very slowly), and have someone who cares for him, and there’s plenty of feels that hit you right in the chest. Oh, and there may or may not be a certain Mad Titan coming to destroy everything they’ve built, that’s that. Warning fot suicidal ideation.

Entanglement by Worstloki, Stellophia - Loki + The Tesseract - Broken, exhausted, and fresh out of the torture chamber, Loki arrives on Earth to fetch the Tesseract for the Mad Titan, but instead… finds himself connected to it through a soul-bond. Which is odd, to say the least, because the Tesseract is an ancient entity of unimaginable cosmic power, and Loki has never been one for any sort of sexual or romantic love anyway. Extreme badassery, well-deserved vengeance, and dates across Europe ensue. Warning for aftermath of torture.

Blame It on The Bard (Who is Obviously Tony Stark) by FluffyHippogriff - Loki/Tony Stark - Loki joins the Avengers through the power of Dungeons and Dragons and eventually finds himself a part of a found family. The Frostiron is a slow-burn and there’s plenty of amazing friendship feels + hurt/comfort.

Winterheart by orphan_account - Loki/Tony Stark - Beauty and the Beast AU, but it technically diverges from the events of Thor-1 and Iron-Man-1. Loki is trapped by Odin as punishment in his Jotun form in a secluded, mysterious castle, into which Tony finds himself in. The angst is angsty and the feels hit hard. May have explicit sexual content: I genuinely don’t remember and the tags don’t help, so read at your own risk.

Syrgja by Lady Charity - Loki/Natasha Romanoff - 260K of Loki suffering in the aftermath of Thanos’s torture in the care of the Avengers, while the threat of the Chitauri stealing him back is ever present, and the war with the mad titan looms over his head. The whump is Gratuitous™, and I mean it. Warning for graphic depictions of torture, mentions of past rape/non-con and flashbacks to said events.

Fight or Flyte by Redring91 - Loki/Tony Stark - Wherein Tony derails a fight via exchanging insults with Loki, which turns into flyting, which turns into flirting, which turns into fluff, which turns into, well, everything else. Odin gets roasted in the process, and it’s gorgeous. And the flyting is just *chef’s kiss*. Contains explicit sexual content in the second fic of the series.

Tea With The Hatter (TGIF) by theorytale - Loki/Tony Stark - Loki accidentally traps himself and Tony Stark in a time loop that resets every day. The burn is slow, the chemistry initially unreactive and then explosive, and the technobabble immaculate. Warning for implied/referenced suicide attempt.

Catch and Release by Like_A_Hurricane: Loki/Tony Stark - Tony realizes Loki’s subterfuge in the aftermath of the Avengers, and makes a deal with him to defeat Thanos. Temporary untrustworthy allies turn into temporary untrustworthy allies with Benefits™, and feelings Very Slowly Burn Their Way In, except both of them are idiots with trust issues who can’t deal with Emotions™. The chemistry is gorgeous, the banter is priceless, and the worldbuilding… honestly, I don’t have words. Marvel could never. Includes very explicit sexual content.

I Am Yours, And All - Or the Arduous Emancipation of One Loki Odinson by black_feather_fiction - Loki/Steve Rogers and Loki/Tony Stark - Hela doesn’t arrive immediately after Odin dies in Norway, allowing Thor to express his anger in some not exactly non-violent ways. One thing leads to another, and the Avengers find themselves in the middle of protecting a very abused Loki from a very abusive Thor, and then some. This is a whump-fest if I’ve ever seen it. Warnings for graphic depictions of violence, torture,  referenced rape/non-con, and several instances of temporary major character death. INCOMPLETE.

Fix You by ZappyTiel - Loki/Tony Stark - Loki escapes imprisonment in Asgard and makes a new identity on earth, but catches the attention of one Tony Stark. The hurt/comfort, the angst, the fluff - this one’s got everything in spades. Contains explicit sexual content. Warning for aftermath of torture and implied/referenced rape/non-con.

Canon-Divergence, Ragnarok/IW/EG:

Ginnungagaps by theorytale - Loki/Tony Stark - After the Statesman arrives on Earth, Loki decides to break up with his previous life and somehow ends up at Tony Stark’s house. Loki eventually realizes he may accidentally have found someone who actually cares and Tony realizes that he may be getting a teeny-tiny bit invested. Hurt/comfort and ice-cream is what happens.

I feel like “Dude we’re getting the band back together” should be considered a win for everyone involved. Phineas and Ferb pull off another impossible/improbable scenario, Candance pulls off a plan involving her mom, Linda and Lawrence get a great anniversary, Love Handle gets a brief reunion and probably a great confidence boost with the knowledge that they still have fans, the neighborhood gets a free concert, the Fireside Girls get to be on stage in the concert, Perry avoids getting blown up and also gets to enjoy the concert, and while the Doofenshmirtzs get off to a rough start the party is successful after the explosion and they also get to enjoy the concert! And as for the audience, we get a fun episode with FIVE songs in it! Everybody wins!

"For the last time," Raph sighs, "I am not a Spirit!"

Toph hums and balances on the edge of the stone bridge. "Sounds like something a spirit would say."

The buzzing mass of energy groans and Toph smirks. He's so easy to rile up. Things have been different since he appeared in the middle of a mind-numbing lesson. He burned the yard with his appearance, leaving once soft blades of grass to crumble to ash beneath her feet. He's still burning now, or that's how it feels. A simmer of heat or energy in every step he takes.

Well, Toph's not really complaining. She's been able to go outside for the first time in years since her parents proclaimed him to be her 'protector.' A rock moves beneath her foot and she stumbles with a bit of exaggeration. Heck, she even spins her arms like some of those haughty-taughty girls at the arena.

The spirit doesn't even look her way or move to help. Toph straightens with a snort and a growing warmth in her chest. Some protector.

"I need to find my brothers," Raph mumbles. "That's if they're even here."

"And then head back to the spirit world."

"It's not the spirit world!"

"Right," Toph grins. "This so-called 'other dimension' with benders."

"There are no benders in my world."

Toph reaches and places a hand on scaled skin. Huge muscle twitch under her palm and the spirit stops. "No benders?"

"Yes!"

she nods. "Like the spirit world."

Toph cackles as Raph throws his arms up with a scream.

In the vast world of comics, I wonder if there have been heroes with a “Groundhog Day,” type power. By that I specifically mean a hero who, if they die, immediately finds themselves waking up at the beginning of that day again. If they don’t die, they just continue forward through time.

I’m just thinking of how crazy it would be to have that hero on your super hero team. Like, you go to headquarters in the morning, and it seems like everything’s normal. But then you go to fire off a one liner, and they say it at the same time as you. And suddenly you know. Something went wrong.

And then one day you come in, and your heart drops as you see that their every move looks rehearsed. They answer questions before asked. They are totally aware of everything that’s about to happen. Imagine how scary that would be, realizing you’re starting a day that you’re team mate has failed to survive maybe dozens of times.
