Jake Weary (Oh, Canada), Melissa Benoist (Supergirl), Rafael L. Silva (9-1-1: Lone Star), Humberly González (Ginny & Georgia), Danielle Campbell (Tell Me a Story) and Brady Hepner (The Holdovers) have joined the cast of Netflix‘s The Waterfront, written and executive produced by Kevin Williamson.

Gerardo Celasco (The Devil in Ohio) and Michael Gaston (Daredevil: Born Again) have been set in recurring roles. Zach Roerig (Vampire Diaries) will appear as a guest star. They join the previously announced cast Holt McCallany who will play Harlan Buckley and Maria Bello, who will play Mae Buckley.

Inspired by true events, the 8-episode series dives into the flawed Buckley family as their attempts to retain control of their crumbling North Carolina fishing empire drive them to increasingly dangerous means to keep themselves afloat.

Weary will play Cane Buckley, Harlan Buckley’s only son who has a complicated relationship with his father but never stops trying to do the right thing by his dad and can’t seem to say no to him. Married to Peyton and the father of a young daughter, Cane likes the money his family business affords him, a Band-Aid for the life he got instead of the life he wanted.

Benoist will play Bree Buckley, the intelligent and hot-tempered Buckley who formerly oversaw the fishery’s finances and, like her father, has allowed alcohol to ruin her bright future. After losing custody of her son, Bree struggles to maintain a relationship with him while maintaining her sobriety.

Silva will play Shawn Wilson, a newly employed bartender for the Buckleys, Shawn is intrigued by the family and carries a secret that could upend the family forever.

González will play Jenna Tate, a journalist who leaves the city to return to Beaufort to tend to her ailing father. Returning to her hometown, she is confronted with past relationships, including her high school sweetheart, Cane Buckley, who still holds a flame for her.

Campbell will play Peyton Buckley. A proper Southern woman, Peyton is built to sparkle. The wife of Cane Buckley and mother of an 8-year-old, she loves Cane and understands his complex relationship with his dad.

Hepner will play Diller Hopkins, Bree’s son who now lives with her ex-husband. Diller is a resentful teenager, a product of having an alcoholic mother. Although Bree is looking to mend their relationship, Diller treats her with hostility and turns to his grandfather Harlan, whom he idolizes.

Celasco will play DEA Agent Marcus Sanchez; Gaston as Sherrif Clyde Porter; and Roerig will play Troy.

Williamson and Ben Fast executive produce for Outerbanks Entertainment. Marcos Siega (You, Dexter: New Blood) will direct the first two episodes and serve as executive producer for the pilot. Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, where Williamson is under an overall deal, is the studio.

It sounds like Carlos (Rafael Silva) may have to deal with some conflict in his (new) workplace in the final season of 9-1-1: Lone Star.

TV Insider has learned exclusively that Enlisted star Parker Young has been cast in a recurring role opposite Silva. He’ll first appear in the premiere, airing on Monday, September 23, at 8/7c on Fox. Young will be playing Ranger Sam Campbell, a straightforward, acerbic, seen-it-all Texas Ranger who thinks Ranger rookie Carlos may not be ready for all job requires, especially in a new case involving a series of armored truck heists.

“Sam Campbell is one of our major new guest stars in Season 5. He’s a seasoned Texas Ranger who starts out as Carlos’s rival, but they quickly form a brilliant partnership that takes them to some very dark places,” executive producer and co-showrunner Rashad Raisani tells us. “Since the day we conceived the role, I’ve always known I wanted Parker for it. Not only is he an action hero, he’s funny, warm, and whip-smart. He’s an absolute star and as you’ll see he brings his A-game to this arc.”

The seeds of Carlos moving over to the Rangers was planted at the end of Season 4, in May 2023. His father was murdered just before his and T.K.’s (Ronen Rubinstein) wedding, and his killer has yet to be found.

“I think that Carlos is not the same since his father’s murder and will do whatever it takes to get an answer, some answer, any sort of answer, and he will take the path necessary to [do so],” Silva told us after the Season 4 finale. “He’s not going to stop until he gets an answer.”

Now, in the fifth and final season, Carlos’ obsession with solving his father’s murder is going to put his and T.K.’s marriage to the test. Uh-oh! (X)

The fifth and final season wastes no time addressing Sierra McClain’s departure, explaining Grace’s absence in a manner that’s meant to both satisfy viewers and honor the “irreplaceable” character. “People are allowed to feel the feelings they have about it, but I would say that we did all we could to protect her,” showrunner Rashad Raisani says to TVLine of the chosen storyline. Grace’s exit leads to a time of great “complexity” for Judd, who recently stepped away from the 126 and becomes “adrift” in a “deep place of isolation,” leading him to confront “uncomfortable feelings he doesn’t want to admit to himself.” Judd’s son Wyatt, now a dispatcher, “had a whole training period with Grace that happened before the season started, so he’s been taught by the best.” Still, we’ll see him “waffle under pressure” as he settles into his position. Meanwhile, Owen finds himself “living in a fog,” an overwhelming feeling he must “go to a dark place” to overcome; Tommy attempts to move forward in her relationship with Trevor, culminating in a “character-defining” moment; Carlos’ obsession with solving his father’s murder takes a toll on his marriage to TK, creating some “interesting and compelling drama”; and Marjan and Paul will “share in the delusion” that competing for lieutenant won’t affect their friendship.

BONUS SPOILER!: Now a Texas Ranger, Carlos gains a new partner with whom he goes to some “very interesting places,” Raisani says, adding that he’s been “desperately pushing” for them to get their own spinoff. “They’re great together, and the stories they tell are some of the most explosive and dynamic that we’ve done.”

Co-showrunner Rashad Raisani says he has plenty of "big game-changing stuff" planned for the fifth and final season of this Fox first responder drama, including Carlos (Rafael Silva) following in his late father's footsteps as a Texas Ranger; the arrival of TK's (Ronen Rubinstein) half-brother; Owen's (Rob Lowe) emotional turmoil over his role in his half-brother Robert's (Chad Lowe) euthanasia; and the competition between Marjan (Natacha Karam) and Paul (Brian Michael Smith) to become the 126 firehouse's new lieutenant, replacing Judd (Jim Parrack), who retired after his son, Wyatt (Jackson Pace), was hit by a car and left partially paralyzed. Then there was the unexpected departure of actress Sierra McClain, who starred as the main 911 call center dispatcher — and Judd's wife — Grace for the first four seasons of the show.
