Brews and Views: A Moment of Reflection in the City

In the rush of urban life, sometimes all you need is a cup of coffee, a quiet seat by the window, and a moment to look inward—or simply take in the world outside.
There's something calming about coffee shops nestled in the heart of a bustling city. It's not just the aroma of freshly brewed coffee or the sound of soft clinks of porcelain against wood—it’s the escape, however brief, from the pace of the outside world.
In this visual story, I found myself pausing the day to savor a slow morning. The mirror reflected more than just my image—it captured the quiet strength in stillness. Facing myself, I realized how seldom we take time to truly look at where we are and how far we’ve come.
By the window, I watched the city move with purpose—people going places, trucks rolling past, life charging forward. Yet inside, time felt suspended. A croissant, a black coffee, and a view that reminded me to slow down. Even snapping a photo of the scene became part of the ritual—preserving this pause, this peace.
So here’s to mornings that start with intention. To coffees that ground us. And to city views that remind us: reflection isn’t just about looking back—it’s about finding clarity in the now.
Checkmates and Chill: Brewing Strategy Over Blue Lemonades

In a café above the busy streets, two minds meet not in conversation—but in quiet calculation, as the clink of chess pieces replaces small talk and each sip fuels the next strategic move.
Sometimes, the best conversations are the ones that don’t need words. This afternoon was one of those moments—where the usual chatter was replaced with focused glances and the occasional movement of a pawn or rook.
Over a small round table, flanked by tall windows and city sounds below, we played chess—not just for victory, but for the experience. Our drinks, vibrant blue and chilled with lemon, mirrored the lightness of the moment. And yet, beneath that relaxed vibe, a friendly tension brewed—every move counted, every piece placed with intent.
What makes games like these special isn’t just the thrill of strategy. It’s the way they connect us in silence. It's the background buzz of tricycles and jeeps below, contrasting with the stillness of two players lost in thought. It’s the calm within the chaos, shared with someone across the board.
In a world where everything moves fast, moments like these remind us that slowing down—whether through a quiet game or a cold drink—is a victory in itself.
Slices, Sips, and Smiles: Where Friendship Meets Flavor

From hearty laughs over pizza and games to spontaneous selfies behind the counter, it's not just the food that fills us up—it’s the company that makes every bite and sip taste better.
What makes a perfect afternoon? It isn’t just about great food or refreshing drinks—it’s the shared laughter, the friendly teasing during a board game, and the kind of memories that stick with you longer than the flavor of your favorite blue lemonade.
In this cozy corner of the city, we gathered around a table topped with pizza and cold drinks, the kind with lemon slices that scream refreshing at first glance. The vibe was effortless—smiles exchanged between old friends, playful strategies thrown across a Connect Four board, and a wall of vintage posters setting the mood just right.
Every photo in this moment tells a story: one of genuine connection. A peace sign flashed from behind the bar, a quick photo-op, and the warm comfort of fries drizzled in sauce on the counter. It’s casual, but it’s everything. These are the days that don't demand big plans—just good people and a welcoming place.
We didn’t just eat. We connected. We didn’t just play. We bonded. And we didn’t just chill—we made moments worth returning to.

In the heart of the city’s constant motion, Urban Hive Café offered more than just food or coffee—it offered moments. Moments to pause, to reflect, to reconnect—with ourselves, with others, and with the quiet beauty of slowing down. Through the lens of coffee, conversation, music, and even chess, we were reminded that meaning can be found in the ordinary. Whether it's the clink of a coffee cup, the hush of thought shared over a chessboard, or the backdrop of city streets seen through large windows, Urban Hive proved to be more than a café. It became a sanctuary. A creative hideaway. A place where time slows just enough for us to breathe, appreciate, and be fully present. May we carry these reflections beyond these walls and into the noise of everyday life—choosing, every now and then, to pause, to reflect, and to find beauty in stillness amidst the hustle.

Little by little, your love is fading.
Though you won't admit it, but i felt it.
How did our love turn this way?
Was it not enough? Or is it too much?
Is my love suffocating?
Or you've just fallen out of love?
I tried my best ,love.
I give my all, but you're the one who let go.
To your new sweetheart,
Hope she'll love you; as much as I do.
Hope your fine now,
I've lost what's supposed to be mine.

Something I Realize
When I was a child I always find my Aunt and Uncle a kind-hearted person, but then as I grow older I realized something—that all of the kindness that they showed upon us was not pure; rather it has something in return. I realized, that indeed there are no pure person this world, an angel you see might be a demon inside. I grew up with nothing but lies surrounds me, it was all false information. I realized that they were just kind to us because they have something on us that they need— to sum it all up their were just materialistic person, selfish, and greedy. Before, it was just all disproof speculations, until the day comes. The day I realized that all of my speculations was true. At this point, this is where my memoir starts. The unforgettable experience I ever had— the moment I realized that all kindness might be just a façade, that each and every individual are two faced. Even your closest family member.
When I was in my childhood days, I always feel excited whenever my Aunt Meg and Uncle Wing invites us for their out of town trip. I find them kind and that they care for us, because they always wants us to join their trip— they wouldn’t even mind us joining them on their trip. Until then, it was during around my Senior High School days, 11th grade to be exact, they ask my Mothers accompany to their trip to Davao. My Aunt and Uncle say that Mother could bring my younger sibling, but my Mother insisted that she would like to bring me on my younger sibling’s behalf— since I never went to Davao before. Then my Aunt and Uncle agreed with it, as they agreed with that matter; their second offspring which is my cousin who is very close to me felt delighted for that agreement. She would often brag about us going to the mall together and play to the arcade the whole entire day. And in my point of view I was more excited than my cousin, because I never went to an arcade before. Then, the night before our trip to Davao came, I couldn’t fell asleep. I was so excited, like a kid opening her birthday present for the first time. As we were on our way to Davao, I decided to stay at the back of the Hilux of my Uncle since I always feel nauseous whenever I ride any kind of four-wheels. Mother and I were enjoying the beautiful scenery on our way to Davao. When we arrive we stayed their for 3 days, as what I’ve observe the pass few hours on our first day during our stay, they would always order my Mother around like “Glo, ang gatas ni Rym.” , “Glo, bantayi sa gud si Rym.” , “Glo palit sa gud ug ingon ani sa gawas oh.” Like they would order my Mother like she was their slave, that they think of her was no longer a family member instead a maid. Just a paid worker. Whenever I see my Mother at that state I would just like to avert my gaze to the opposite direction, because I can’t bare seeing my very own Mother treated that way— like a slave. Even though I want to voice out my opinion and my objections— I can’t, because we need money to sustain our needs. I hate them for treating my Mother that way. To be honest they were like that to anyone, family or not, their own child or not. No wonder there’s no employee that would last to them because of their way of treatment to their workers. Sometimes their kind, sometimes their too much to bare. I still remember the time, we were at the mall at that time. All of them were inside the Kidzonia, then me on the other hand was left alone outside. I can see through my Mother’s eyes, sympathy, I can see the unshed tears. I couldn’t bare to stare at her eyes— still I forced a genuine smile that happens to turn into an awkward one. Then, I found, the only pure person here in this world for me was my Mother, the only person who would care about me was my Father, the only person I can rely on was my siblings. No other than them, my family. At the time, we’re on our way home to Midsayap. I said to myself, that I would never go with them anymore. Their treatment to us was unbearable, I can’t take it. I would rather go out of town with my parents and siblings instead of joining them on their trip. When I grow up, rich or not, I will never give such treatment to anyone. I will respect them, and never mess with their dignity. I’ll become a person with love and care, respect and humility.
