I haven't posted in a while. Sorry!

This book is absolutely heartbreaking. I love Adam Silvera, I've read four of his books now and have literally just started a fifth; he's one of my favourite authors.

An amazing debut novel, this book had me hooked before the plot twists and has left that emptiness most readers know after finishing a good book, and not knowing what to do with yourself.

The main character Aaron, was so well characterised. I sympathised with him on a level as a part of the lbgtqia+ community but I truly believe anyone reading this would feel it as much as I did. He's so real: he makes mistakes, he does bad things, but he's genuine, and he tries. I wanted to take away his pain at every point in this story, even when he was in the wrong.

(His mum Elsie is the unsung hero of this story)

Anyway, this is a must read, but no promises that you won't come away from this with your hear aching.

If you like art, reading poetry, or see the importance of mental health: this book is for you.

If you've been told you're ugly, too fat/skinny, too dark/light, too foreign, too loud: this book is for you.

If people expect you to fail before you've even started, don't want to know the real you, or refuse to be kind: this book is for you.

This poetry book is the 20th book I've read this year, and perhaps the last one I'll complete (except, of course, my annual new year's eve read), and it did not dissapoint.

If you need a poetry book that speaks to the heart, with art you can connect with and admire, then Kirsty Latoya's "Reflections Of Me" is for you ❤️

This is a good book.

I'm sitting here, wondering what to do with myself, and how to describe it so here goes:

'History Is All You Left Me' will tear you up and then tape you back together again. You're not sure how you feel about anything or anyone by the end of it, but you'll know without a shadow of a doubt, that it was a fucking good book (sorry for the language).

If you've read any other books by Adam Silvera (I've read 'They Both Die At The End' and 'Infinity Son') you'll know he has a habit of giving you these brilliant characters, showing you all their flaws but making it impossible not to love them anyway. Kind of like real life.

I don't really know what I'm saying, but the twists in this book hit me like brick walls to the face. Unexpected and sometimes painful. But if you stick with it, the book will give you closure, and a story you won't forget.

This literal beauty, has made my last week. At times it was hard to read because of how much I, personally, related with Queenie, but I'm so happy I finished it.

It manages to make me die laughing and the die crying all in one sentence.

Author Candice Carty-Williams, touches on:

Racism, mysoginy, classism, white "liberalism", unconscious bias, mental health, fetishism of black women, family, friendship, work relationships, gentrification, domestic abuse, and the precise essence of existing in the UK as a black woman.

Must read.

Just finished this gem!💎

Took me over a month because I've been doing so much college work! Like so many classics do, 1984 lived up to its shining reviews.

The story though slow and often exciting in subtle ways, gripped me from beginning to end. There was so much relatability in the main character, though I cannot say I like him or support him as he made light of rape and even thought about doing it to a colleague.

Other than that - which seriously dampered the book for me - I adored every moment, the ending sadly realistic, and completely believable.

I feel it has stood the test of time so well, because it is so realistic. I think many believe are governments are capable of, and often are, lying to us, and we have seen totalitarian regimes on this planet before, so it's easy to conceive it happening now and in the future.

I definitely recommend this book!
