thats really cool and all man
Okay so I know that Kur-skan isn’t in the risk of rain returns trailer so probably won’t be in the game
But, like, what if she was?
What if you could play as the heretic through the stages, with (an unkillable and massively souped up) providence not too far behind, no items, so it’s just a mad dash to the teleporter, beat the boss, then go to the next stage, with like a minute to find the next teleporter before providence arrives, rinse and repeat. Once you get to the final stage, instead of the crashed contact light you’re actually on the contact light, and you make your way to the bridge and have time ends when you get to the console (and then the cutscene where Kur-skan is killed plays out). Kur-skan is a very agile and mobile character, and if positioned correctly could get massive bursts of damage off with ruin. I think a mainly speedrun focused mode like this would be so damn cool.
Once you beat that mode you could unlock (non canon) the heretic as a survivor, other survivors could try out the speedrun mode, etc.
I really like my own idea lmao
If you have any thoughts let me know

ok
I hate doing pillars as much as the next guy, but I unironically really like them as a gameplay mechanic. ANY survivor can pillar skip with the right items (some easier than others), and it encourages you to get mobility items or mobility equipments that otherwise would be useless (looking at you volcano egg. Basically a death sentence in the mithrix fight), or you could go pure damage and defence and risk pillars. It’s a really cool mechanic. Sure, some survivors can skip pillars without any items (railgunner, captain, and loader to name the obvious ones) but it’s still a really cool dynamic.
Another thing I love is how mithrix feels as a final boss. To him you are a fly, if he seats you, you’re dead. Especially on monsoon and eclipse. Most final bosses (to me at least) feel like they’re weaker than you - while they have much more health, sure, they do way less damage (because you have a smaller health bar) and aren’t as agile (you’ve got to hit them somehow). Mithrix though? He can close the gap between you in the blink of an eye. If it weren’t for literally the laws of the game itself, almost every single hit would one shot you. He literally steals your items and uses them as if he was the player. In the mithrix fight, mithrix feels like the player, with his damage, agility, and also just vibe.
I really like the mithrix fight.
