headcanon that percy majors in social services during his attending new rome university with annabeth. and later graduates with a master's degree alongside his fiancee. and goes on to create a CPS division for demigods across the country. and merges his business with the chase's to build efficient structures for safe housing demigods throughout the country. and uses his status on olympus to withdraw funding for resources like safe passage for satyrs alike. and helps pave the way for future generations to come.

Hades came, he served absolute looks, he blackmailed his nephew, he grossly misjudged the situation, his daddy issues got triggered, he did a complete 180 by deciding yes actually he is going to steal his brother's shit, that backfired, and now arguably he's more confused than he was before Percy broke into his castle.
And that's Nico and Bianca's DAD.

Again they dangled Annabeth’s fatal flaw in front of her through Hephaestus saying that if she were to leave right then with the shield, she would win back her mother’s favor and be a hero, two things Annabeth has wanted more than anything in the world her whole life. And again she chooses to stick by her friend and protect him because if they don’t break the cycle, who will? If they continually sacrifice each other to get ahead, just as the gods have done with each other and demigods for centuries, what will be left but the destruction of the world?
But Percy isn’t that way. Annabeth has the chance to have everything she’s ever wanted but not the way she wants. She doesn’t want to be that way anymore. She’s breaking the cycle.

I’m actually LOVING how Rick Riordan, and the other writers of the show, took his initial concept of a Percabeth rivalry fueled by that of their parents and kind of turned it on its head?
Now, instead of Annabeth being wary of Percy because he’s a son of Poseidon, he’s wary of her because she made a callous impression on him. They get off to a rocky start even before finding out who Percy’s father is, and when they finally do, Annabeth doesn’t care. Instead of them fighting because of who their parents are, they’re fighting over their own opposed worldviews.
Then, instead of them arguing over which of the gods is cooler and who was right in the story of Medusa, they realize that, just like Medusa, Annabeth is a victim of her mother and that, unlike Medusa, she is a far kinder and stronger person, unwilling to repeat the cycle of hurt. They realize that, like his father, Percy often acts without considering potential consequences and that, unlike his father, he is a far kinder and stronger person, willing to step up for someone he wronged and whom he cares about.
Instead of Percy and Annabeth’s rivalry being focused on that of their parents, it’s focused on who they are, themselves. But the path to friendship is still the same: a realization that they have each other’s backs, no matter what, because they’re not their parents after all.

sounds like something asian moms do, punishing their children for their embarrassment lol
athena was cruel as fuck for letting the monsters in just to punish annabeth for something she didn’t even do. like, she knew annabeth could’ve/would’ve died, and she didn’t give a single damn. all she cared about was her own embarrassment, not the wellbeing & safety of her child. her best and most favored living child at that too.
but what athena didn’t account for was percy’s loyalty towards annabeth already being so high that he will put himself in literal deaths way for her now & forever. like, she didn’t expect that. she didn’t think he cared about her the way people are supposed to care for each other.

i love the overarching theme of love not needing to be earned, and this is where most gods (and as Annabeth mentions, humans) fuck up. demigods have to earn glory, while mere mortals have to be high-achievers in school, work, etc to be worthy for some parents
the parallels between Sally and Poseidon’s parenting towards Percy, and Athena’s “parenting” towards Annabeth in this episode!!!!!!!
the episode being bookended with Sally and Poseidon trying to teach Percy basically the same thing, and even though he’s a DEADBEAT, Poseidon is still trying to keep Percy alive in some capacity.
and episode 3 having Annabeth defending Athena so hard from medusa just to have Athena basically sign Annabeth’s death warrant in this one because she EMBARRASSED HER?! EVEN THOUGH SHE DIDN’T EVEN MAIL THE HEAD?! Annabeth talking about how the st louis arch is a monument to Athena because it’s a monument to perfection, mirroring the way annabeth looks at love as something to be earned!! Percy repeatedly being impertinent and fucking up and both Sally and Poseidon still showing him some kind of love and protection are you kidding meeeee
anyway that makes sense right

percy realizing he damaged annabeth's relationship with her mother by sending medusa's head to olympus and immediately taking her place in a suicidal battle to the death with a mythical beast. King behavior. This is the way everyone should apologize when they fuck up. take notes

Alex: Objection, Your Highness!
*class erupts in laughter as Alex grows crimson at what he’s just said*
Professor: Was that a Freudian slip? Is objecting His Highness something you do often?
*more laughter, but this time Alex is laughing too*
