Today’s not your average Friday. I woke up at 6 AM, grabbed a shower and hopped in an Uber. Fast-forward a few hours and a few hundred miles, and I’m conning my way into the Delta Sky Lounge at the Atlanta International Airport.
As I write this, I’m enjoying the first of many free beers I’ll enjoy this weekend. And no, I don’t plan on camping out in the Sky Lounge (though it’s quite roomy up here). I’m en route to Austin, TX for SXSW Interactive!
So I thought it was only right to fire up the ole’ blog and document the experience as best I can. There are way too many amazing panels, exhibitions, concerts and parties to attend, but I’m going to sponge out and absorb as much of the SXSW experience as I can.
Topics I’m interested in checking out: Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Gaming, Mobile Advertising, Experiential, Virtual Reality, Digital Music.
I’ve been wanting to visit SXSW for years, as well as Austin (I’ve never been), and I’m incredibly grateful to Deutsch for sending me!
On a trip to Sicily, Mauritius and Morocco photographer Joseph Ford spent several days flying around over all sorts of terrain in a helicopter. After showing the aerial pictures to some friends they suggested shooting a series mixing fashion and landscapes. Juxtaposing clothes and aerial landscape, the piece of work was selected for the Association of Photographers Awards in the UK and had an Honorable Mention in the International Photography Awards.
The combination of images creates a fascinating interaction, highlighting the appeal of each image, which would have been less remarkable on their own. But by identifying an unexpected relationship with other images each picture develops a gripping impression.
If there is one thing I learned while living on the Upper East Side many years ago, it’s that York Avenue is quite a hike from the subway (at least as far as hikes from subways in Manhattan go). That fact can sometimes help keep housing prices down, at least until the 2nd Avenue Line comes in.
