Reader in denial kiiiiiinda cringe
One night, you had gone out with a few other 1-A students and gotten yourself wildly drunk. The night passed by in a blur, and eventually, you found yourself calling an Uber back to the dorms. You had enough of the overwhelming, yet exciting adventures in the city, but you weren't quite ready to end the night. After stumbling up the stairs, you found yourself in front of Katsuki Bakugou's dorm room. You and Bakugou had grown to be very close friends, though he'd never admit it. It was surprising to see that there was still a light on in his room. He was usually long asleep by now, but this night he wasn’t, so you knocked on the door and waited for an answer.
Bakugou huffed and stood up before angrily opening the door. It was almost imperceptible, but his expression softened just a tiny bit when he saw that you were the one standing outside his room in the middle of the night. That didn't stop him from giving his usual attitude, though. "What the hell do you want?"
You leaned against the door frame to hold yourself up, looking into the dimly lit room. "I just wanna hang out."
"In the middle of the night? Smelling like beer?" He responded.
You smiled, "Yeah, what's so wrong about that?"
Bakugou rolled his eyes and stepped back to let you in. "I was just about to go to sleep, idiot."
"I'm surprised you’re not already asleep. Isn't it past your bedtime?" You responded as you walked into his room and sat down on the edge of his bed.
"Shut up, I don't have a 'bedtime'. I was busy." He sat down next to you on his bed.
"Doing what?"
"None of your business."
You lie down on his bed. "Pff, fine"
"Seriously, you reek. How much did you fuckin drink tonight?"
"I didn't have a lot," You responded.
Bakugou rolled his eyes again and waited for you to give him a real answer. You huffed and eventually spoke up again, "Fine, I don't even know. I stopped counting after a while."
His eyes widened. "Are you shitting me? God, you're stupid." You shrugged, and he seemed unimpressed. Bakugou spoke up again, "So why the hell are you bothering me, now?"
"What, I can't just hang out with my friend?"
"We're not friends."
"If we weren't friends, you would've kicked me out of here by now."
"Don't push it, dumbass. That's still an option. But seriously, change into something else. You're gonna stink up my whole damn bed."
"Fine, do you have anything I can change into?"
Bakugou rolled his eyes again. "You seriously don't think about anything, huh?" He stood up from his bed and dug through his closet for a minute before pulling out some sweatpants and an old t-shirt with a skull on it. He tossed you the clean clothes.
You caught the clothes and hesitated for a moment. You were in Bakugou's room in the middle of the night, and he was about to watch you change into his clothes. Usually, you'd be able to hide any kind of reaction to something like this, but after god-knows how many drinks, you started to freeze up a bit.
Bakugou noticed the slight blush on your face, and he quickly looked away. "Tch, what's your problem. Just change already so that I can go to sleep."
"Nothing's wrong, just stop staring, jerk…"
"I'm not staring! Don't make it weird, idiot."
"It's not weird… I'm not making it weird!"
Bakugou huffed and responded, "Like hell you're not, you look like you don't know how to act around another dude."
"What the hell is that supposed to mean? I'm not gay…" You quickly defended yourself.
"I never said you were, idiot."
"Just drop it, okay?"
Bakugou rolled his eyes and turned around so you would stop whining and just change. Once you were in his clothes, you plopped back down onto Bakugou's bed. "It's about damn time…" He sat down on the edge of the bed next to you. Bakugou didn't say anything, but he noticed the way his clothes fit on you, and he quickly looked away again before you could see the slight blush on his own face. The action didn't go unnoticed, but you didn't say anything. You were exhausted after the long night full of drinking, socializing, and doing anything but taking a break.
Bakugou lay down next to you, moving around a bit to get comfortable. You watched him shift in place, not a thought behind your eyes. Even though Bakugou did nothing but piss you off most of the time, you couldn't help but enjoy every minute spent together. Even when the two of you were just lying down, doing absolutely nothing. He saw you looking at him, your cheeks still flushed.
"Now what's your problem?" He asked with his usual attitude.
"Nothing, I didn't even say anything." You said, slurring your words.
"You've got a real staring problem when you're drunk."
"No the hell I don't…"
"Bullshit, you can't take your damn eyes off of me." Bakugou snapped, rolling his eyes for what felt like the millionth time that night.
Something about what he said touched a nerve. Maybe it was all the alcohol, but you felt the need to defend yourself. "Stop saying shit like that… I'm not gay."
"I never said you were, idiot. Why do you keep saying that?"
"You keep implying it… I keep saying it because I'm not, okay? I'm just drunk."
Bakugou mumbled something under his breath and turned in bed so his back was facing you, "Sure, whatever helps you sleep at night, idiot."
"What was that?" The longer this conversation went on, the more frustrated you got. You've joked like this in the past, but something about the way he was speaking was really starting to piss you off. It was as if every word that came out of his mouth made it harder for you to keep denying what you thought Bakugou was saying.
"You heard me. This is pathetic. Stop being a coward and admit it." He was starting to get annoyed, too. It was painfully obvious you were in denial about something.
"There's nothing to admit, just drop it…"
"Fine, whatever. Keep being a prick, just go to sleep. And leave as soon as you wake up, I don't need to deal with your damn hangover in the morning." Bakugou still refused to look at you, and he was done trying to talk some sense into you.
You opened your mouth to speak up, but the words seemed to get caught in your throat. He was right, it didn't take much to see it. You didn't know if you were actually gay, or something else, but you definitely weren't straight. Deep down, you've known for a little while.
Ignoring it seemed like your best, and easiest, option. There was no reason to face these problems head-on until now. You were in your 'friend's' bed, drunk, in the middle of the night. The same friend that you had been spending all of your time with lately. The same 'friend' who makes sure to grab extra snacks from the dining hall when he knows they have something you like.  The same 'friend' who makes you feel like you're the only two on earth when you're sparring together.
You spoke up quietly. "Bakugou, I'm not stupid. I know, okay…?"
His head perked up just a little, but he still wouldn't turn around to look at you.
"You know you're gay..?"
"I don't know what the hell I am, but I know it's not as simple as pretending to be straight for the rest of my life."
"Oh…" Bakugou didn't exactly know what to say. He refused to let it show, but he felt relieved, knowing that you weren't a complete idiot in denial. He even felt a little bit of hope, too.
"Just- let me pretend for a little longer. I don't want to deal with this… yet."
All that hope immediately disappeared when he heard you say that you wanted to keep pretending. He didn't understand why you were being so stubborn about this. "Yeah, whatever."
You felt the guilt wash over you. Bakugou was right in front of you, and you were pushing him away. In a million different timelines, he's the one pushing you away. But he's not, he's lying next to you in bed, and you're refusing to let yourself be happy. "Look, I'm sorry."
There was no response. The two of you lay there in silence for a while, giving you almost too much time to think. You wanted to move closer, to be with him, but for some reason, you wouldn't. After what felt like an eternity of internal debating, you spoke up again. "Bakugou…"
Hearing you softly say his name caught his attention. You didn't sound nearly as guarded and on edge as you did before. "What is it now?"
"I know what I want."
Bakugou finally turned around in bed, facing you again. "Okay, what the hell do you want?"
"I don't want to keep forcing myself to be something I'm not… I want to be happy."
He could feel his face heating up. Bakugou didn't know what he expected you to say, but it definitely wasn't that. "It's about damn time… and if that means what I think it means, then just say it. Say what you're really thinking."
"When I'm with you, I'm happy. I wanna be with you…"
He froze. Those were the words he had been waiting to hear for god-knows how long, longer than he'd even realized. "You're serious?"
You nodded, unsure of what to say next.
"Good…" He didn’t seem to know what to say either. "That’s good… I agree."
"Agree?"
Bakugou huffed, "Yeah. I agree…"
"…agree with which part?" You questioned.
"Tch, don't make me say it…" He took a deep, sharp breath when he saw you lean in a little closer, "I agree… that I'm happy. And I wanna stay happy. With you…"
Your eyes widened, and you couldn't believe what you were hearing. This whole time, you thought you were making a complete fool of yourself. But now, Katsuki Bakugou was lying down in front of you, saying that he wanted to be with you, too. "You're being serious..?"
"Of course I'm being serious, idiot."
You hesitantly reached for his hand. When he didn't pull away, you leaned in even closer. You saw his eyes glance down at your lips, and you decided to make your next move. Just as you were about to close the distance between you two, Bakugou tightened his grip around your hand and spoke up, "Wait-"
Immediately, you stopped what you were doing, "Yeah? Are you okay..?"
His face was red. He nodded, "Mhm, I'm fine. You're just… you're still drunk…"
You felt like an idiot. Obviously, you were still drunk. This was a bad idea right now, but that didn't stop you from wanting more. "Yeah… yeah, you're right. Sorry, I don't know why I-"
"Don't apologize. Just..." Bakugou cut himself off and pulled you a little closer. You adjusted on the bed, resting your head against his chest and getting comfortable. "Go to sleep, idiot."
It took a minute for the nerves to wear off, but after everything that happened tonight, you were more than willing to go to sleep. Before you knew it, your eyes were shut, and you were out.
Bakugou heard your breathing even out. Not too long after, he fell asleep too.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The next morning, Bakugou woke up before you. He felt you, still laying on top of him, and he took a minute to recall everything you said last night. With his free hand, he nudged your arm, trying to wake you up. "Hey, stupid, wake up."
You slowly opened your eyes and saw Bakugou hovering over you. "Hey," Your head hurt like hell, but it still wasn't nearly as bad as you thought it would be.
"You, uh… you remember what happened last night?"
A light blush spread across your face and you nodded, "Yeah, of course I remember."
"Just checking… you were plastered last night."
"I remember… You gonna kick me out now?"
Bakugou sat up a little in bed and leaned back against the headboard, "No, dumbass, I'm not gonna kick you out."
You could feel his arm still around you. Everything felt like it was happening all at once, it was a little overwhelming. Just yesterday you were still trying to ignore whatever the hell these unfamiliar feelings were, then you finally accepted it, and now you were laying in Bakugou's arms. You couldn't stop yourself from reaching out and running your hand through his hair.
Bakugou tensed up for a moment but quickly relaxed again. "What're you doing..?"
"I'm doing what I was too drunk to do last night." You said as you leaned a little closer. One of his hands came up to cup your cheek.
"Then do it." Just as Bakugou finished his sentence, you leaned in the rest of the way, finally pressing your lips to his. He returned the kiss and pulled you even closer.

Getting together
Bakugou was never really interested in relationships, but he always sort of knew he wasn't into girls.
Before Bakugou realized he had feelings for you, he seemed to tolerate you just a little more than everyone else.
It takes him forever to realize that he has feelings for you.
Once he finally realizes he has feelings for you, he starts to push you away.
Bakugou thinks that his feelings towards you are just a weakness.
Eventually, this gets to you. You try to confront him, but he bluntly dismisses you.
The two of you don’t talk for a little while.
Bakugou is clearly more irritable than usual.
During a training session at school, the two of you are paired up to spar.
This fight does NOT go well. The two of you ended up in the infirmary.
While you’re both stuck in bed, you take the opportunity to talk to him.
You tell him how you feel, and he, very reluctantly, tells you why he's been avoiding you.
The two of you talked for a while after that. The conversation mainly centered on you explaining that you didn't want to force him into anything, but you also didn't want to lose him as a friend.
The conversation ends with you and Bakugou agreeing that you both want to be in each other's lives as more than friends.
He makes it very clear that things between you will happen very slowly. He wants to be with you, but he still doesn't want anything distracting him from his goals.
It takes a while for you and Bakugou to find a healthy balance between training and your relationship, where you both feel satisfied and comfortable.
Despite the rough start, you and Bakugou learn to depend on one another without giving up your individual strengths.

Bad memories
It had been several months since you moved to Musutafu and started attending U.A., and it had been a couple of months since the two of you had started dating. Katsuki made it VERY clear that any kind of intimacy wouldn't be rushed. He had never been in a relationship before. For most of his life, school, hero work, and quirk training had always been his top priorities. But with you in his life, he was slowly starting to open himself up to new possibilities.
You knocked on Katsuki's door after a long day. "It's open," he called out.
He was lying on his bed when you walked in. You made your way over and sat down on the edge of the bed.
"Hey," He said, sitting up next to you. "What do you want?"
"What, I can't just come over and hang out with you?" He leaned a bit closer and rested his chin on your shoulder. "Fine. Just don't be annoying."
You wrapped your arm around Katsuki's shoulder. "Yeah, whatever.." A small smile crept onto his face. His arm slipped around your waist, and he lay down, pulling you down with him. You dropped onto the bed next to him without any protest and pulled him even closer.
"Cmere.." You pressed your face into the crook of his neck. Katsuki cursed under his breath and tilted his head back to give you more room to work. His hand came up to the back of your head, and his fingers tangled into your hair.
He pulled your head back just a little and leaned in to kiss you. Your lips met his eagerly, and his hands quickly made their way to his waist. Katsuki shifted so that he was lying down, pulling you on top of him. One of your hands pressed down on the bed next to his head to hold yourself up while the other came up to Katsuki's neck, gripping it, but not tight enough to hurt him.
The second your hand touched his neck, Katsuki sat up. He immediately, almost instinctively, grabbed your wrist and pushed you off of him. You let go and backed up as soon as he sat up. His breathing was heavy, and his eyes held a look of fear, something anyone rarely saw on Katsuki's face.
"Don’t'- Don't fucking do that"
You nodded, "Yeah.. Yeah, I won't do that.. I'm sorry, I didn't know."
"I know. Just.. Don't do that again," Katsuki huffed out, still breathing heavily.
You stayed put. "What the hell happened? Are you okay..?"
"I'm fine." He bluntly dismissed your worry. You knew he was lying through his teeth, but you also knew that pushing him any further for an answer right now wouldn't help either of you. You nodded again and said, "Can I come closer again…?"
Once Katsuki nodded and gave you the go-ahead, you shifted a little closer to him on the bed. You held out your hand, silently asking if it was okay to keep going. He hesitated for a moment before taking your hand. With his hand in yours now, you moved even closer and wrapped your other arm around his shoulder.
The two of you sat together like that for a little bit while Katsuki calmed down. When you felt like most of the tension from earlier was gone, you spoke up again. "What happened..?"
"I told you I'm fine," Katsuki quickly responded.
"Don’t give me that.. Cmon, tell me what's wrong."
"I said I'm fine. It was nothing."
"You know that's bullshit. But, fine. I'm not gonna force it out of you."
Katsuki mumbled something under his breath. He wasn't used to feeling weak like this. And he wasn't used to opening up to anyone like this. After another minute of tense silence, Katsuki spoke up again, "If I tell you, you're not gonna call me weak?"
"No, of course not.. I won't call you weak. You can talk to me about this."
He nodded, "Alright, fine.. And I don't want any pity or any of that crap.. I'm not telling you this for some bullshit sympathy. I'm telling you this because I want you to know."
"Yeah, alright. No pity."
Katsuki started to speak, not looking you in the eye, "Not too long before I started at U.A., there was a villain attack in the city. I got caught in the middle of it; it was pathetic."
You nodded to let him know you were listening.
"This guy's quirk was Sludge. His whole body was sludge. He was everywhere, all around me. He had my arms and legs, he was around my neck, and in my mouth. I thought I was gonna die."
Once he started explaining, you realized exactly what he was talking about, but you didn't let it show.
"I could do nothing but sit there and wait until he either killed me or someone saved me. And the most pathetic part; that shitty nerd had to be the one to save me."
Katsuki finally looked at you again, waiting for some kind of response. He looked like he was expecting you to laugh or something.
You finally spoke up, "Shit.. Yeah.. I actually read about that attack."
He rolled his eyes, obviously not pleased by the fact that you already heard this pitiful story. "And why the hell were you reading that crap?"
"When I first moved here, I caught up a bit on local news. That was one of the articles I read."
Katsuki couldn't help but roll his eyes again and huff. "Figures.."
"That wasn't the only thing I read up on, though."
"What, am I supposed to ask you what the hell else you read?"
This time, you were rolling your eyes. He could be such a dick sometimes, but, oddly enough, it was one of the things you liked most about him. "Yes, ask me what the hell else I read. I'm going somewhere with this."
"Fine, what else did you read?"
"I read up on U.A. news, too. I remember reading about the first-year students in the sports festival. I was just curious. I wanted to know what I was getting myself into when I decided to transfer to U.A."
"Okay. So what?"
"It scared the shit out of me. I mean, I know I'm strong, but I started to seriously second-guess myself. I saw one video in particular that really freaked me out. It was you, fighting in the final event. It was almost intimidating."
Katsuki couldn't help the small, almost imperceptible smile that appeared on his face. "Of course it was.. You were watching me fight..."
You pulled him a little closer. "Yeah, alright. Don’t get too full of yourself, jerk. My point is, at first glance, I knew you were strong. It didn't take much for me to see it. And there's nothing you can do, no villain attack, and no article or story that will prove otherwise. You're one of the strongest people I know. Nothing's gonna change that."
Katsuki stared at you for a second with a blank expression on his face. He'd never tell you, but hearing that was oddly reassuring, especially since it was coming from you. He buried his face in the crook of your neck. "God, you're such a fucking sap"
You smiled, "Hey, I'm being honest. No pity, no bullshit sympathy, just honesty."
"Yeah, whatever… Just cmere." He lay back against the bed and pulled you down so that you were on top of him. "Thanks, loser."
"Whatever, jerk."
