Telim 'Tor was my favorite character from Mirage. Between the awesome art from Kev Walker and his darts; just love the guy. So I decided to build a Commander deck for him. His abilities are literally the hardest things to build around. He has Flanking and a +1/+1 buff for other attacking Flankers until end of turn. So... initially the build will be around Flanking and trying to find out if there's anything I can do to optimize a deck with like eight Flankers.

There are three cards with Telim's name on them. And if I remember right, there's some Kaleidoscope artifact where he has a quote. That's the plan.

The initial concept for this deck was finding Ication Skirmishers (art is above) in a bulk bin. This card from Fallen Empires is Reserved List. But since it has Banding, very little demand. I wanted to build a deck highlighting Banding but then also focusing on soldiers, which then led to the name of this deck.

My initial search criteria is for Human & Soldier Typal, with the focus on Banding and combat effects. Then for flavor, cards referring to formation, maneuver, or deployment.

A recent change to Magic I adore, but which I haven't seen people talk about, is the addition of themed staples to the Commander decks of relevant sets.

I love that they give players more thematic choice when it comes to ubiquitous cards, since self-expression is a huge part of Commander especially, and they do an excellent job of expanding the worldbuilding in the main set.

I hope these continue to be printed--they're simply wonderful.

with marvel very specifically bringing the hero subtype back, has there been any chatter in fixing older cards that used the subtype Hero or had rules text that referred to the subtype Hero, particularly those cards on the reserve list that don't have alternate printings?

I haven't heard any talk about errata-ing back old Hero cards.
