My painting pledge for June. A couple terminators from the leviathan box. I'm a little disappointed that everything in the box is push fit. I'd love to do a little kitbashing, but I'd rather get these finished than spend time hacking them to bits. It was fun to work more with decals and to give everyone a little decoration.

I also enjoyed the book for eluding to the danger of someone who inspired so much change in others. What happens if he is not there to harness and steer the power of his own inspiration? What horrible paths of logic and unhealthy coping mechanisms will his orphaned sons invent?
Thinking of Gorgon of Medusa and how controversial it is for being, in many peoples opinion, a book about EVERYTHING except the Gorgon of Medusa. I might be coping but I think it's way more meaningful that it is a book about what Ferrus inspires in others. Piety, strength, admiration, sacrifice that moves his sons and even those of other legions

My painting pledge for April. The beginnings of a fun killteam I plan to donate to my local store. You know something badass and grimdark.
I got these stl’s from Solflamer over on MyMiniFactory. But the original maid marine concept came from ChumiChan over on twitter and Bluesky.

I think there are too many groups in 40K putting ‘death’ in their names.
Deathwatch
Death Company
Death Gaurd
There’s just one too many. And then it struck me:
Black Guard
Now there’s a dour term. I think that would be a rather fitting name for the Deathwatch instead. They ply the void of space for the threat of xenos. Employing questionable methods on behalf of the even more questionable inquisition. They return to their brothers with stories they cannot tell, but undoubtedly more skilled for it.

Progress! The printer is fixed!
Goodness, this thing is enormous. Glueing this thing together has been one hell of a puzzle, but it is slowly coming together.
Like a fool, I started with the torso. But it’s cool to see how the core will look.

I'm trying to build a great gargant, but I'm also really hoping I might get a chance to play with it one day. Witht hat in mind I have made some rules.
Tumblr media
Here's these actual model these rules were based on.
Tumblr media
I have also whipped up some basic rules for a regular gargant. If I ever make one.
Tumblr media
I don't know if anyone has opinions on house, but I needed somewhere to host these images.

I know warhammer sells on the aesthetics of grimdark. But I do wonder if the primarch models would be 10% better if they all had pretty faces. Sanguinius at the very least should have been a pretty boy.

My pledge for April. It’s taken me five years, but I’m almost done the Octarius set! I’ll hopefully post some cooler photos later.

No, but the moment that food touches your tongue you are now enthralled. An addict who would do anything for one more morsel of food. A slave in mind if not form.
Although, turning into a pig would be more fae-like.
context: some myths state that whoever eats fae food is trapped to serve the fae for an indeterminate amount of time, if not permanently
so basically you'd eat a random really good sandwich and suddenly your soul belongs to a daemon/cultist, even if you were unaware it's a Warp Sandwich
saw a point brought up and was curious what other people thought
Reblog to get wider opinion!

The realm of The Dark Prince is supposed to be made of concentric rings. Each ring is some form of temptation. Surely one of them is made of food based indulgences.

It’s had mixed results over the years, but ‘Da Grot Revolution’ is always fun to see. An Ork Amy made entirely of grot units.
You couldn't possibly imagine just how utterly disappointed I am with 40k youtube as a whole. Like, I bitched about it a lot before, but once again I found something that made me shake my head: people are too stupid to even do meme-lists properly.
Like, the whole point of a meme-list is not that it looks stupid. The point is that it works DESPITE looking stupid, even if that means putting in units that on the first glance don't fit the theme or even cutting back on the "theme unit" - it will still be a proper "spam X list" with 90 models as opposed to 120 of X! In fact, those fewer models will perform even better with the adequate support units.
But I think some practical demonstrations will do better than me just rambling about it, so:
SEND ME A SUPPOSEDLY SILLY OR WEAK UNIT OR DETACHMENT AND I WILL BUILD YOU A 2k LIST YOU COULD COMPETE WITH!

Battlewagons galore! An ork of the Bad Moons isn't worth his teef if he doesn't have a proper iron krumpany at their beck and call. I'm on my way to having a pretty decent motor pool of tanks to call upon.

The start of my pledge for March. The theme is space marines, so pretty easy for a 40K enjoyer. Can we guess what chapter I’m going with?

Wow, I think this is the first time I’ve heard someone say that there’s not enough bolters in the bolter porn books!
I’ve never really thought about which books have the most action in them. I remember Helsreach pacing out the violence rather well. It starts and ends with some big action scenes. With periods of planning and morose reflection spread between the attacks.
There was Battle of The Fang. It’s an older one so it should be easy to find a physical copy or a digital copy. Space Wolfs vs Thousand Sons and I remember jumping into things fairly quickly.
Maybe something with chaos space marines? Storm of Iron was full of conflict. Especially with all the petty backstabbing! The Nightlords omnibus is famously good, but it’s mostly gloomy dudes being gloomy.
I've started reading 40k shit, and I kind of want to love the Astartes, but they are all so ... So ...
"What a kickass gunfight!" Said Chubb Flubnut, the ass-kickingest spaceman you ever did see. "It must have lasted at least half a paragraph! I can't wait to have more kickass gunfights, with my most bitchingest gun in all fiction, and my sword that's a chainsaw, and sometimes I've got a motorbike! There'll be tons of blood and huge explosions and kickass monsters it will be SO METAL...."
Ho ho ho, restrain your enthusiasm, young Flubnut," chaptermaster Willydilly Bingbong chuckled indulgently. "First, I must spend 9000 pages telling you about why I'm all solemn and noble about something that happened a literal ice age ago. You would do well to heed the words of the great dreadnought Asskickius..."
"Truly, I kicked so much ass they gave me a new ass-kicking robot body," said Asskickius. "Not that you're going to see me do anything with it, not before this 4000 page anecdote about the time I learned the true meaning of service by spilling my Mac and cheese..."
But suddenly, the dark lord Evil o'Fuck popped out! He was covered in awesome spikes and his goons had awesome tanks and spaceships and freaky monsters!
"Avast, dickheads!" Screamed the dark lord. "'tis I, Evil o'Fuck! Behold, as I commit terrible acts of evil that shall not breach a pg13 rating, for the one thing scarier than me evil legions be the possibility o' denting sales figures."
"Not today, o'Fuck!" Declared Bingbong. "For we shall defeat you, by yammering away at you for one million pages without fucking doing anything!"
...please, please, recommend me books or fics that prove my first impressions wrong, where the Astartes actually shut up and deliver on the METALNESS of their premise

My pledge for February completed.
This could be the nostalgia getting to me, but I feel the best character sculpts for orks were the old metal ones. Way back in the early 2000's, right as metal was about to be phased out. Maybe it was the pinnacle of sculpting at the time? Digital sculpting was starting to become a thing. Or maybe Brian Nelson was just that good.

Our second member of house Beaumaris. I kinda like the chicken walker design, with the tiny arms. I’m hoping to try going a little heavier on the weathering this time.
