I tried out a #NewToMe knitting technique. It’s called steeking, where you knit a tube and cut it up. The instructions called for wool, but I’m more partial to acrylic and because I wanted a blanket, I wanted something economical. With the basic striping patterns it is just long enough to be a nice size for me to cuddle up under. Cutting it up was a bit more nerve wracking than it probably would have been with wool, but the stitches held up really well with this cheap acrylic, and hasn’t shown any signs of ripping out from the bound edges. I had some left over yarn and crocheted this cute #Amigurumi triceratops from a pattern called ‘Tanner the Triceratops’ by @TheNicoleChase that I found while searching Pinterest. I had just about enough yarn to get it done (and found some matching stash to complete it). It’s been a while since I last posted, so I have a couple projects I’ve been working on. My last project if 2022 (the hoodie) and my first project of 2023 (the romper) The hoodie is a red and white is for my oldest and is made of a blend of yarns in a crochet moss stitch and single crochet ribbing. It was my first time doing a crochet rib this way, but I found it super fun, although it took me a few tries to get the tension right. I followed a YouTube tutorial by @accrochets For my youngest I made the baby romper. I knitted this one in scraps of blues and greens from an old Patons pattern book I have. The only change I made to the suit was I omitted the buttonholes and went for kam snaps instead. I didn’t get any videos of me zooming around, but we did have a good day at the park and visiting some family. I was able to enjoy the park (walking to swings but zooming around the rest of the outdoors). It was a good day, Bean had her first time on the swings or in the grass and loved every minute of it. A work in progress, a clone and resize of a favourite garment of mine, plus a skirt with huge in seam pockets. Don’t know if you can even tell my bulky wallet is in there. Both garments will be button fronts, and I’ve chosen to hand sew the buttonholes, so that’s an adventure. A huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped me reach my goal in being able to order my power chair. This morning I reached the amount that enabled me to purchase about 90% of my wishlist, with the main parts being ordered on the #TravelBuggy website, and a couple accessories already ordered from Amazon to save a bit of money. Finished this quilt up last night. I believe the final dimensions are somewhere around 46x64 inches and I seem to have one happy little customer. I ended up going with a spilled block pattern, deviating from the written pattern a little bit because I was low on coordinating fabrics for this particular project. Since starting my fundraiser (linktr.we/randomlytaylord) I’ve been getting some pretty bad anxiety. I was worried about judgement and the possibility of getting no help at all.
