Ol' Red

Kai had returned home from a long day of work, expecting to be greeted by his wife, Skylor, unfortunately, he was greeted by her unfaithfulness.

Well, he caught her with another man and ever so stealthily, he used his powers and set his house on fire, leaving the master of Ember and that stranger behind in the flames.

Before Kai knew it, he was behind bars on a prison farm, he'll be there for a 99 for that's what his actions cost him. Kai knew that Loki or as the warden, Lloyd, refers to him as, Ol' Red, would find him rather quickly if he ever dared to escape.

After two long years, Kai had finally made the warden his friend and so Lloyd had sentenced him to a life of ease, taking care of Loki.

Now, Loki was the damndest dog that Kai has ever seen, he's got a nose that can smell a two day trail, the canine's a four legged tracking machine. One can consider themself mighty lucky to get past the wolves and quicksand beds, but all the years that Kai has been at the prison farm, nobody has gotten past Loki.

"Why are you even referred to as Ol' Red? You're brown." Kai told the canine, petting it behind its ears before feeding him.

Loki is a Pointerdor, a Chocolate Lab mixed with a brown German Shorthaired Pointer and thus Loki being part Retriever made it difficult for prisoners to escape.

After a long day of feeding the horses and working in the fields, it was finally nightfall and the prisoners had to return to their cells, Lloyd had walked in for extra support.

"Come on somebody, why don't you run? Loki's itching to have a little fun." Lloyd taunted.

"Uh sir, we've got a runaway." A cop informed Lloyd.

Lloyd smirked, "Get my lantern and get my gun, Loki will have a treat when the morning comes."

"Yes, sir." Another cop told him.

Myranda walked in, having heard the news and went to saddle up her horse.

Kai, however, was sitting in his cell, writing a letter.

Hey Jay, lil' sis, I need your help, can you send in a female hound dog and pen her up in the Forest of Tranquility? I'm planning my escape.

News spread fast and soon enough the whole place found out that the escaped prisoner had died after Loki found him.

"I heard that the warden's wife killed him, something to do with an old debt." A prisoner told Kai.

"Ain't nothing to be surprised about, that girl's got dedication and that prisoner was a fraud, never took responsibility for his dogs' actions, she wanted to get back at him, she made it so subtly, even making his own dogs attack him to mock him for what he told her mother." Kai explained.

"Mock him? What did he tell her mother?" The prisoner asked.

"Something about how dogs don't attack people, boy, the tables have turned on him, I say, he deserved what he got." Kai shrugged.

Kai got up, paid off the guard and slipped out his letter to his sister and her husband up in Ignacia.

Jay smiled, "Nya, Kai has written, says he wants us to bring in a female hound."

Nya smiled.

They brought down a Bluetick Coonhound, she was pretty as she can be. Jay and Nya pen her up in the swamplands of the Forest of Tranquility about a mile south of Ninjago City.

As night fell, Kai took Loki for his evening run, he just dropped him off and waited.

As evenings went on, Loki was used to seeing his lady every night and so Kai kept him away for three or four days and waited until the time got right.

Well soon enough, he made his run with the evening sun and he smiled when he heard they turned Loki out, because he was headed north to Ignacia and Loki was headed south.

Loki had stopped and was now greeting his lady, the cops lowered their guns and turned to Lloyd who looked shocked and confused.

"Well at least we'll have some more tracking dogs to train." Myranda shrugged, hugging her beloved husband.

As for Kai, well as the morning sun rose into the horizon, he was greeted by Nya and Jay as they let him stay with them, who knows maybe Lloyd will find him, maybe he won't.

For all it's worth, love got Kai in and love got him out.

Just Don't Let Me Go

Myranda likes fluffy animals, especially canines, why else would she have a dog, but Loki wasn't the cause of her worries on this fine morning, in fact Loki was slumbering with Maple, the Husky, as for Myranda, she was enjoying being in the form of a fox as she let Lloyd pet her, she was in a peaceful slumber. When she had reverted back to her original form, Lloyd knew something was wrong because this wasn't her doing, the powers did it on its own, this was the last memory Myranda had as she awoke in a hospital room, Lloyd asleep on the nearby chair, looking obviously distraught, tired and worried, very rarely had Myranda seen her boyfriend in such a state in his sleep.

Myranda noticed that he had cried earlier, before the doctor could check on her, she had tried to awaken Lloyd.

"Psst, Lloyd! Lloyd, wake up, idiot!" Myranda told him, but to no avail so she did the very thing she wasn't necessarily supposed to do, produce a Patronus, but due to her weakened state, it only produced bright lilac light, this attempt worked.

"Don't do that!" Lloyd panicked.

Myranda shrugged and stopped using my powers.

"Why?" Lloyd whispered quietly, yet Myranda heard him.

"You want the long version or the short version?" Myranda asked him.

"Lloyd, there's a thing that you need to know, I don't care about my body weight, I did this to teach my brother a lesson, I wanted to scare him, Sensei was in on it, he didn't like the concept, but not all lessons are about fighting, now are they?" Myranda told Lloyd.

"You almost killed yourself in order to teach your brother a lesson!?" Lloyd asked, unbelieving.

"Remember, he told me I was fat in front of all of you, I did what any girl would've done, stop eating, but I did it to scare him, I wanted to scare him enough so he wouldn't say that to another." Myranda explained.

"By the way you talk about it, it sounds like he told you that more than once." Lloyd stated.

"Because he did." Myranda shrugged.

Lloyd had awoken with a jolt, another one of those dreams/flashbacks, something told him that this wasn't normal, perhaps someone escaped the departed realm or something, but he couldn't help, but check, just in case.

Myranda had passed, due to being stabbed during a mission about a year ago, it's rather unfortunate that their children had to live without their mother, at least Lloyd had the ninja and his sister, Gabriella, to help him out with Lyra, Evey and Harry.

Yes, she may have purposely starved herself to scare her brother, but that's not what killed her because she gained strength rather quickly and the doctor said she ate all the food they gave her with glee.

After her death, her beloved woofer lost his will to live as he too succumbed to death trying to protect Myranda's limp body during the same mission Myranda died in, Loki even attempted to get her back, she only pat him weakly before her hand fell, lifeless, at least Myranda and Loki are reunited in the departed realm, but are they really?

Both haven't moved on and when Lloyd had opened the departed realm to check if Myranda and Loki had escaped, Myranda was in a full fledged conversation with Sensei Garmadon, however once she sensed the gateway between the departed realm and Ninjago was opened, she and Loki wasted no time to escape as she hugged Lloyd tightly, Loki trying to climb onto Lloyd, barking in glee, tail wagging and all.

"Shush, everyone's asleep." Lloyd ushered.

"I've missed you." Myranda whispered.

Lloyd sighed, the portal between the realms had already closed and the master of Animals and her dog weren't ready to leave Ninjago again.

Myranda and Lloyd stayed in each other's embrace, just taking in the moment and not letting each other go.

What If

Dogs have always been the most innocent and naive creatures, it may be why they get blamed for things that aren't entirely their fault, dogs would do just about anything for their owners, they're loyal and eager to please, only with patience, courage and dedication will you be able to channel your woofer's true potential, but above all, the most important aspect of training a dog is respect, if you respect your dog, your beloved woofer will respect you in return.

Myranda never really had friends with the great traits of a woofer until she became part of the ninja team, how she unlocked her powers is a tale for another time, but since then the petty game of "What If" has been plaguing her in the back of her mind, going to the best outcome to the worst.

What if she went the other way?

What if the mutts who dared attack her dear woofer killed her in an attempt to kill Loki?

What if she didn't go out on that walk in the first place?

What if… there was nothing she could do and her dear woofer died in the heat of things?

She'd rather not think about it, but yet again, these "What ifs" return in the dead of night during her dreams.

One such night was today when her no good for anything brain decided to come up with the worst of all outcomes.

The mutts had managed to kill her beloved woofer, leaving her in a pool of fresh blood, having unlocked her powers nonetheless, but the feeling of helplessness still nagged at her, how could she save the world as the legendary purple ninja alongside the legendary green ninja if she can't even protect a puppy against two aggressive mutts? She had brought her woofer's limp body back to her house, having to break the news to her younger brother and then her parents, why did the woofer has to die so young? The sharp knife of a short life, ending with her suicide, believing she was not worthy of her powers if she couldn't protect her puppy.

But alas, it was just a nightmare, Myranda had awoken with a jolt, sobbing quietly, hoping to not wake the mop of blonde holding her like a teddy bear, her beloved woofer was asleep at the foot of her bed, she didn't mean to wake both of them, she only meant to bring Loki closer to her for comfort, but there she was at three in the morning about to be flooded with questions.

"What's wrong?" Lloyd asked.

"Nothing." Myranda answered quickly.

"It can't be nothing if you're trying to bring Loki closer to you." Lloyd pointed out.

He figured that out quickly, she gave him those puppy dog eyes.

It took him a second to know what she was preoccupied with, "another one of those nightmares?"

Myranda nodded, Lloyd hugged her, Loki was now standing next to them, his tail wagging slowly.

"See, Mama? I'm fine!" Loki told Myranda.

Myranda pat Loki's head, "thank you, both of you."

Loki and Lloyd nodded before resuming their slumber, Myranda following them in their slumber afterwards, hoping to never face those what ifs ever again.
