Happy Birthday to the man, the myth, the legend! Kerry Adkisson. Also known as the Modern Day Warrior, Kerry Von Erich…he has a couple other ring names but this one is my favorite.

He would’ve been 65 today. He’ll be gone for 32 years in a matter of weeks. I never even lived in the same timeline as this man but I’m so drawn to him and to his story. The best way I can discribe it, is that I’m a fixer. I want to fix things for people. Especially good people who didn’t deserve the bad things that happened to him. And though I didn’t know Kerry, it feels like he was one of them. All the stories I’ve heard about him, people just talk about what a good guy he was. Yeah he struggled with addiction, as did most wrestlers back then. But he was a good guy. He’d do anything to make you laugh and wanted people to know he heard them when they spoke. He gave big bear hugs and looked people in the eyes when they spoke to him. He loved Jesus and loved his girls, which is why I included my favorite picture I’ve seen of them. He had his demons, like most people, but was an all around good guy. Which is why my heart breaks for him.

Yeah his gorgeous and I make jokes about thirsting after him, which duh. But more than that, my heart goes out to him. I don’t know how else to say it besides I wish I could somehow fix things for him. So he could be here to see what awesome people his daughters turned out to be. Lacey is hilarious and confident and a bomb mother. She even wrestled for a while. Hollie is sweet, and empathetic and wants to make a difference in the world of mental health. She also is an amazing mother. I have a feeling Kerry would love being a grandpa.

My heart goes out to Hollie and Lacey today. As well as their mother Cathy. Kerry’s older, and last living brother, Kevin and his whole family. Kevin’s daughter, Kerry’s niece Kristen, actually shares a birthday with Kerry. So shout out Miss Kristen. Happy Birthday!!

Kerry you are missed by many the world over. Gone but never forgotten. Hope heaven is throwing a party for you today.
