This right here is what upsets me about edgy magical girl “DeCOnStRucTioN” animes, so many amazing designs for characters and weapons and monsters, and all used for what?

As props for the talentless hack job writing their myopic shitshow to soapbox about how being happy is a sin and optimism and hope will lead to “the end of humanityyyyyy” and how the human race is “not worth saving”.

Mcu has that same backwards idea so much media has that a romantic relationship is some kind of end goal to reach and not just another part of life the requires work and has its own set of challenges. Loki and Steve they need more than that

Steve and Loki didn’t need a romance, they needed therapy. They needed a professional to sit them down and listen to them not a hot girl as a damn prize.

I really can't wait for the day that special effects artists unionize and Disney can't overwork these people anymore. It's fucking insane.

I also think it's important to acknowledge that CGI everything isn't just a problem for the MCU -- its an issue in almost all of the companies disney owns because of the above reason. think all of the recent live action films. CGI dalmations anyone? entire mulan backgrounds? everything about the aladdin remake?

In the future, Marvel will no longer need to rely on actors cause they’ll also be CGI.

...that's really...the MCU really did this instead of just making costumes and suits??? I'm not surprised but also...DC really has been treating us too well with real detailed costumes (the real leather cape and purposefully obvious stitching in new batman's cowl and whatever all the costumes in birds of prey had going on my beloveds) so this is just all the more shocking to see lmao

since we're talking about this today ..... let's really get into just how much is CGI in marvel films today. if you haven't seen this series already, please check out "Marvel Overuses CGI" on youtube which I use as a reference

obviously marvel uses VFX for things like dr strange's magic and outer space shots, but they also use it for practically any reason possible

carol danver's HAIR (which. apparently wigs don't exist anymore?)

tony stark's entire iron man outfit (this is tragic bc when marvel first started out, his entire suit was real!) 

the yellow jacket villain was ALL cgi

most of the cities (including nyc) are cgi

and what I think is the worst offense of all: the costumes. bc the thing is, most of the costumes start off real! tom holland, in almost every single appearance, wore a real spiderman suit!! and it looks amazing! but what do they do? they covered it up with cgi COMPLETELY. look at the differences between the civil war suits

even black panther!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the chadwick boseman wore a REAL black panther suit just for it to be covered up with cgi. also-- this entire final battle is 100% cgi

should I mention how they don't even film outside?

I am a firm believer that cgi can be a great tool for filmmakers when used properly. I think the best examples is when its integrated into practical effects seamlessly and real physical sets and costumes are used. what marvel's doing is..... well. i'll leave that up to u

Holy gods, this rewrite kicks so much ass!

No joke, but this actually helping me put together pieces for my own Loki story! How can I not be able to like a post more than once!?

EDIT: so I started writing this like a week ago, but honestly the finale killed any desire in me to interact with this show in a fannish way. So have these half assed notes. I think it’s obvious where I lost steam. These ideas are free for use for anyone who wants them in fic, have at you. As it is, I don’t think I’ll interact with this show as a fan any further than this.

How I would write a Loki show in bullet points (and a mishmash of short scenes and dialogue, let’s be honest) for my sanity!

Presuming some disney exec came down from on high and forced the inclusion of EG!Loki and the TVA (because otherwise it’d be IW!Loki that survived and it’d be all about him finding his best life away from Earth, Asgard, Thor and the whole Thanos/EG situation. Or if I only had to include the TVA, it’d be IW!Loki dealing with the TVA, not EG!Loki):
