The creative sector is one of the UK's most vibrant industry's and our biggest export to the world that isn't bullets and bombs.

To roll out the red carpet for grifters in silicon valley so they can freely harvest all that hard work and passion to create 'products' which will then directly compete with the people whose very work they are built on... and to do so without compensating them a single penny? Sheer insanity.

We are not in a clown world anymore.

We are in a travesty.

I'm almost glad the general public is shielded from the wider debate around Algorithm Imagery (which is what AI should stand for) because the arguments being made for it are so cursed it boggles the mind, these guys think they are 'liberating' the arts from some fictional elite class of gatekeepers while supporting a technology that removes humans from the process of actually making the art...

It is so insane that we have been this quick to surrender one of the most fundamental aspects of humanity, our desire to create...

If we destroyed every single digital and physical copy of paintings, drawings, films and games on earth, "AI" would never be able to make anything, because it doesn't make anything, it just regurgitates what we feed it... But any child could pick up a crayon and rediscover those things or make something completely new.

I think most people get this, most normal people understand on some level what is right and what is wrong, our internal morality.

But it is the people with all the money and their legions of sycophants (who deludedly believe that money will trickle down to them some day) who don't get it... who can't get it. To them everything is a transaction, everything is about making more money, and a machine that can produce 1000s of images basically for free in minutes (environmental impact and actual image quality not withstanding) is more profitable than paying human beings. They are like pod people, there is something missing inside them, so don't listen to their 'this is inevitable' rhetoric, it's only inevitable if we give up and buy into their snake oil, let them keep pouring their own money into this monster, but don't give them a penny of your own, they'll soon enough choke on their ugly ambitions.
