ratigan vc: i don't care about others' opinion of me except i super do & if they don't think i'm the smartest & most charming man alive they have to die.

quickly a powerful limb scoops up the bat & lifts , pulling him tightly against himself in an action that feels more possessive than it does affectionate. a sigh is breathed out from his nose , head dipping to bump against fidget's own. ❛ oh fidget my precious , my beloved ― my fragile heart couldn't bare it were you to be angry with me ! ❜ ears twitch , ratigan pulling back & gazing somewhere into the distance. ❛ you don't think i'm brutish , do you ? ❜

                     “  Yes ,     favorite .  ”    There’s a chortle to follow repeated words only because they provide him with such delight .      And he thinks on it momentarily and how he’s the only one he can recall ever being spared the way he was .     It must be true .     Which is why without hesitation he moves swiftly to Ratigan’s side .    Hoping only for a bit more of this positive attention .

ok but when he does the little head tilt hes so cute

                      “  Cross ?    Me ?    Heh ,  no-no-no .    A little sore – maybe .  ”    But regardless of the severity of that he shrugs it off .      This all came with the territory after all and that promise of not allowing the feline to eat him really was inviting .     A smile stretches at features ,      “  Really ?     You wouldn’t ?  ”

The bat liked to believe he was a valuable enough asset that that was true but sometimes he can’t help but question it when Ratigan could switch up on him so quickly .     And the things he said in those moments planted seeds of doubt in Fidget’s mind every time .

ratigan the kind of guy to beat you to death with his fists and then turn to fidget like " im still a gentleman tho right :) ?"

If Ratigan was a man he'd be like 6'4", 260lbs

ratigan does not walk on all fours. he finds it brutish & beastly , & it is beneath him to do so. however , there are very specific circumstances in which he will: when evading capture & when he's truly been angered to the point of no return. then he can drop down & break into a sprint ― at that point , capturing him becomes nearly impossible.

                              “  Yeah - yeah - yeah .    Coming boss !  ”     Immediately responded at the sound of his name because Fidget didn’t want to anger Ratigan any further than he already had been today .     One run in with Felicia was enough for one day after all .     It takes him a bit longer than usual to stagger into the room with the bruises gained in his feat with the feline .

Unsure of the other’s mood he doesn’t speak and just approaches with hands anxiously wriggling within one another .     Only a questioning grunt’s given to acknowledge he was there but he keeps himself small .     Hoping that this was one of those brief positive shifts Ratigan tended to have he forces a subtle smile to come over features .

❛ fidgeeet ... ❜ the master coos , voice soft & affectionate ― as one may beckon a pet to themself. for a while now he's sat slouched in his armchair , smoking quietly , a stern look upon his long face. thoughts have lingered too long upon basil & the most recent scheme he'd meddled in , all gone awry because of the incompetence he surrounds himself with ( unwillingly , of course . )

he'd gone & let his temper get the better of him , as it often does , & poor fidget received the brunt of it. though as he mulled over this , he comes to the realization it was awfully brutish of him to allow felicia to bat about his favorite imbecile for as long as he did. ( does he think of him as a brute ? ) this was routine , however ― & now , as is tradition , he calls fidget back to his side. / @redhnds

i think it is so funny that in the book ratigan is a mouse , but personally i think actually making him a rat who THINKS hes a mouse was a based take.
