i think the wicked fandom as a whole discounts fiyeraba far too much in favor of gelphie.

this isn’t to hate on gelphie at all, i personally don’t ship them and i hc glinda as aromantic, but i respect the ship and i see where people are coming from. however, said people (from what i’ve seen) tend to ignore all of what makes fiyeraba so good and ship gelphie instead.

fiyero, the prince, chose elphaba over everything. his status, glinda, etc., all for this green-skinned girl who the wizard and everyone else is framing as a villain. who he never looked at any differently because of her skin color, who he never saw as anything but who she was.

glinda does love elphaba, but she would never sacrifice all that fiyero did. glinda cares too much about how other people see her to be able to choose elphaba, which is why they never would have worked. their priorities are far too different, but fiyero fits with elphaba perfectly.

Main takeaways from this section:

As was reflected in the preceding question, a lot of people were busy or otherwise had things going on. April seems to be more busy on average for people than February.

More people expressed that there was not enough time between the two months. 

Some respondents explained more personal reasons like output speed or nervousness about publishing/producing works.

Conclusions and next steps

The biggest reasoning that was given for reduced participation was outside factors like busyness or personal issues. Though some of these things are unpredictable, I think it would make sense to take a poll giving people options as to which month they would most like the next fandom event to take place in. Giving people more say in the month the event occurs in will let them choose what works best for their schedule. 

The second biggest reason was lack of time between the two events. In the future, I will try to put more time between events. I also believe the survey mentioned above will help with this issue. 

In the previous question, two respondents gave prompt suggestions such as prompts being more focused on a certain theme (such as a specific AU or spring for April) or broader prompts. This feedback may give some inspiration to those looking to run these events in the future. 

As a comment said there was too short of notice, and I planned Fiyerabapril halfway through March, I may suggest that prompt lists and promotion start at least a month before the event so people have time to plan. 

As there was a comment about the waiting period for A03, I would likely not require approval as part of the process for the next event. This factor may have influenced why specifically fanfic took a dip between the two months. 

As people were most restricted by time-based factors, I think there is room for events that have a longer/more flexible timeline or encourage fewer projects. Still, there seems to be interest in events that follow a Fiyeraba February/Fiyerabapril format as well. 

Overall, people did express an interest in these events happening in the future, so I think it is worthwhile for me or other people to keep creating events going forward as there seems to be a demand.

Yes, even if you're neurodivergent. I don't have ADHD, but it is allegedly a thing with ADHD as well. And I am autistic, and after a bunch of nerve damage (severe enough that I was basically housebound for 6 months), I had to completely rebuild my ability to get my brain to Do Things from what felt like nearly scratch.

This is specifically from ADDitude magazine, so written specifically for ADHD (and while focused in large part on kids, also definitely includes adults and adult activities):

Resources on this aren't great because they're mainly aimed at neurotypical therapists or parents of neurdivergent children. There's worksheets you can do that help a lot too or thought work you can do to sort of build the neuro-infrastructure for tasks.

But a lot of the stuff is just like. fun. Pulling from both the first article and my own experience:

Play games or video games where you have to make a lot of decisions. Literally go make a ton of picrews or do online dress-up dolls if you like. It helped me.

Art, especially forms of art that require patience, planning ahead, or in contrast improvisation

Listening to longform storytelling without visuals, e.g. just listening regularly to audiobooks or narrative podcasts, etc.

Meditation

Martial arts

Sports in general

Board games like chess or Catan (I actually found a big list of what board games are good for building what executive functioning skills here)

Woodworking

Cooking

If you're bad at time management play games or video games with a bunch of timers

Things can be easier. You might always have a disability around this (I certainly always will), but it can be easier. You do not have to be this stuck forever.

Fiyerabapril prompt 9: Royal

Last prompt of the month! So I went a little nuts! I hope y’all like it!

It’s been a blast creating art for Fiyerabapril this month. It’s gotten me back in the swing of doing my art.

Elphie is 43 here, and Fiyero is 42.

They’ve been dating in secret, but 6months following his controversial divorce with Sarima, the prince reveals he’s been dating Animal Rights activist and Eminent Thropp, Elphaba, for 10 years.

Here’s the deal: most of the lighting in my art makes 𝘯𝘰 𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘦. I just make it up as I go along. That’s why I need to do some good lighting studies every now and then - I can’t get away with this forever 😅

Hi Everyone!

Now Fiyerabapril is over, I just wanted to thank everyone who participated and engaged with related content!

We noticed less people participated in Fiyerabapril than in Fiyeraba Feburary and so I created this quick survey to gauge why this trend may have happened. I am not bitter, I just have a background in User Experience Design lol. 

I am hoping to plan more fiyeraba or wicked-related fandom events in the future, so it would be great to know what you guys are into and what did or did not work.
