"Woah buddy, slow down. I'm not even sure if I can picture myself having children let alone grandchildren. I'm only twenty-eight, I'm practically a baby myself."

๐ + are you going to fess up about your feelings, or do you think you lost your chance?
"I don't really see the point, I think that would cause more grief than anything else. Sola took a lot of heat that should have been slung at me after everything went down with me and Robin. I don't want to keep being the reason that her life gets upended every time things are going good.
She's happy, he's happy. I'll figure out a way to be happy about that. I owe her that much." @solaadisa @maverick-liu

"Aw, come on. You're not the worst option for that."
Ravi's convinced that of the pair of them, he hovered closer to being able to claim that title.
"And as the one of us that almost was married, I feel like that gives me some expertise in the field."
@connorsclark
"I'd say that's about a fucking four-hundred," Connor answers with a scoffed (but real) laugh with a shake of her head.
"You'd have to be fucking insane to want to marry me -- hypothetical or not."

"It's not that I thought you were," Ravi argues, the argument weak and half-formed because he hadn't instantly ruled out the possibility either, "It's that I was trying to be an optimist on the off chance that maybe you were. He seems a peculiar guy at the best of times, your weird instructions didn't seem out of character for him."
( His time in culinary school had led him down curiosity rabbit holes that included reading about the war and ban on turkey twizzlers. )
"I appreciate the stars. I'll take a solidly good Google Review too for my troubles. Bump that average up."
A scathing one star review had skewed it a little after a customer had decided not to heed a warning he gave for a spicy order being spicy.
He holds the bag out to Scam-ie Oliver for him to take, hesitating for a moment on whether or not he should ask the question that he's pondering before asking it anyway.
"Which roommate of yours is it that's got you doing all this instead of ordering normally?"
@julianxpark
The bond between roommates and close friends was sacred and could never be broken. Unless it was standing between Julian and his favorite food. It was unfortunate that the owners of Jolyani had scorned Robin so badly that it had become contraband in their household, but it hadn't stopped him from eating it on the regular.
It just made him sneakier about it.
"What?" Julian asks, incredulously, as he reaches where Ravi holds his food hostage. "You didn't really think I was Jamie Oliver, did you?"
Maybe if Ravi had been better at hiding his own indiscretions, Julian wouldn't have to resort to getting food like it was some back-alley drug deal. "Don't worry, I can still give you five stars from my fake UberEats account."

"That's good thinking, solid thinking. The kind I can get behind."
It's also the kind that left him with no guilt, something he found as equally delicious as the perfectly seasoned and crisp fries that Gideon must have mastered and passed along to his cooks. He resolves to himself then and there that if the was a secret to it, he was going to get it from the man.
"My particular reason is that I have the rest of the afternoon free and clear and I wanted to see if you wanted to hang."
Ravi knows it's somewhat of a long shot given the Oliver shaped responsibilities his friend had that made his schedule less fluid than his own but he thought it worth a try.
@fletcher-bailey
Fletcher gives Ravi a half-shrug. "No. Not unless you're serving diner mac'n'cheese and sandwiches. Your menu is plenty different." He's not going to say 'yes'. Fletcher leans against the backrest of the booth without fully sitting in it so he can keep an eye on the floor.
"I'm cut from the floor, so whenever I cash out my last three tables and clean them up, yours included. I can also pay the busboy to clean my sections and do my side work to get out faster if you have any particular reason for asking."

'It's the meal we have after sunset to break our fast during Ramadan," Ravi explains, crossing his feet at his ankles as he did his best to make himself comfortable.
It seemed to him like they would be there for a while.
"I would but my phone died two hours ago. That's on me for rolling the dice on the day and thinking leaving the house this morning with twelve percent battery wouldn't come bite me in the ass."
He turns his head towards the redhead then, tilting it slightly.
"Have you got yours? There's gotta be someone we can call."
@kcte
"What's Iftar?" Kate asked, unfortunately not as culturally aware as perhaps she should have been. She cast a glance over to Ravi, tapping her foot in a rhythm against the interior wall.
"Could you just not like, call her?" She suggested. "I mean, it might not speed up the process but at least she'd know you weren't dead in a ditch." A smirk came across her face. "Just dead in an elevator."

"What are you doing in here?" Ravi asks as his solace in silence after wandering into the library was interrupted by an invader in the form of his sister, "I don't think I've ever seen you in a library before in my life."

Ravi tenses at the sound of a familiar voice and a touch on his arm that he never welcomed, doing his best to keep his expression neutral as she joins him at the table.
Receiving any sort of sympathy from Cricket was enough to put him on edge, doubly so in the wake of his conversation with Sola and having seen the two of them vanish to what he guessed was the bathroom earlier.
How much did she know? Enough to know that Sola's casual confession about her date for the night being her boyfriend had hit him like a stray bullet?
( He could have been okay with a flesh wound, but this one feels like it's punctured something vital. )
When she speaks again, he realizes what it actually is. Just another petty swipe, the kind he enjoyed doling out at her at these sorts of things if he could think of something good first.
It should have been a relief in comparison to his first line of thinking.
It also should have been a source of offense too when he registers the insult.
It was all just numb.
There's an obvious lowhanging fruit that he could pluck to get lob back at her and his first instinct is to be tempted by it like Eve to the apple.
( Something about how he would have asked her mom or her sister what she was like in high school but he doubted either of them cared enough about her to notice. )
Deep down he knows it would be cruel and unnecessary in equal measure, two things he was entirely comfortable with being when it was towards Cricket Campbell and yet all he can manage to do is wonder if that was why of the pair of them he was the one sat there by himself.
With everything else around him feeling abnormal, he deviates from what was usually their norm and opts not to try and best her for who could be the worst.
"Probably, yeah." He neither agrees nor disagrees, both options felt equally pointless to him, "I'm not really in the mood for this tonight, Cricket. Whatever else you got for me can you just save it until tomorrow?"
@cricketcampbell
for: @ravirussell
where: prom
"Look, I just wanted to say that I know tonight's probably like really hard for you."
A gentle hand is laid on his arm as Cricket sits in the chair recently vacated by who she can only assume to be Ravi's date for the evening, unsure of who she felt worse for in the moment.
(Except it was definitely his date, who she couldn't blame for having to excuse herself. There was truly only so long that one could remain in Ravi Russell's presence before the desire to run away screaming became too pressing to ignore. Even Cricket's own personal best was only about forty five minutes and she'd had years of exposure therapy to get there.)
"It's just--being back here, I get that you're probably thinking like wow, this is it, this is where I peaked...but I want you to know, from like the very bottom of my heart, that that's just not true."
"You probably peaked way before you even started high school."
