زيارة موجزة ومختصرة اقتصرت على بضعة أيام في "عروس البحر المتوسط" تشرين الماضي. طرابلس - التي آمل أنها - تتعافى من سنوات عجاف. زرتها وهي غير ملوثة بضجيج السيّاح. وادعة وأصيلة وكأني كنت في ضيافة عائلة كبيرة عريقة، التقينا لأول مرة ولكن كأننا نعرف بعضنا من زمان. أحببت الناس واللهجة والطعام وإيقاع الحياة - هل هذا ت��ثير البحر الذي يجعل الأمور أكثر رواقاً وسكينة؟

A brief visit to Tripoli at the end of last summer. I hope I got the right impression that the city is recovering after some tough years. I experienced it in a tourist-free state—calm and authentic—like being welcomed by a big family I was meeting for the first time yet somehow felt I had known forever. I loved the people, the delicate charm, the food, and the rhythm of life. Is it the sea that makes everyone more relaxed?
