Vehicle Branding Design Process
The screenshot above shows my vehicle branding design process. Apart from the main deliverables for this client I will be offering alternatives to improve his brand which will include vehicle branding. This will include 3 vinyl stickers of the logo which will be placed on the side of the vehicle and back and a Midland Motor Stop Badge.

Final Outcome - Printed
Above is the final printed outcome of my booklet design which I was really proud of as it was the first time doing something like this and it looked really professional according to my client and his colleagues who were the first few people to physically touch and see it.

Printing Problems
Before starting on the design I was told by the client it would be okay to design the booklet on landscape A4 document or in other terms have 2 pages on one document. After the client sent over the final files off to the print service, they got back to him mentioning that each page has to be separate and that they will put all the pages together. Therefore I had to split each document in two pages and also add a bleed of 154x216mm too have them re-sent to the print service.

Before and After - Design Process
Before
Below shows the initial design of my Welcome and About page before any changes were made apart from changing the background. As you can see I used an image which was sent to me before I requested an updated picture which is of a good quality. The colours used were very bland and basic and was not very engaging.
After
Above shows the final and updated design of the same pages where a lot of key changes has been made. As you can see from the image directly above the borders, image and colour of the text has been changed. Having an image of good quality made a difference as it doesn’t downgrade the quality of the actual booklet design where as if you look at the previous design I made, you can tell how the image actually affected the overall design. I used the same green just like the blue which I used for their branding of the organisation. The key information that the organisation wanted to get across to its audience was in blue and had a light shadow in the background which enabled to catch people attention when reading.

Design Process
Whilst I was designing I noticed how unprofessional this designed looked, especially in-terms of layout and images. An example of this is, as you can see above with the images of the sponsorship logos, they were given to me the way it is displayed to work with and not individual files. The images have been messed around with especially when they were resized. This made the images all squished up together. In order to tackle this I had myself find the high quality images of the sponsorships on the internet. I also realised how much space the borders took and I initially only used them for spacing and alignment.
Above shows the recent progress and changes from the previous one. I have gotten hold of recent pictures which made a big difference in my opinion as it allowed me to play around with the layout if you can compare it with the version above. I decided to get rid of the borders which looked really basic and the patterns which was in the borders looked like something in a story book therefore I removed them and only added borders on top and bottom of the page. I created my own effect to the borders using a brush tool as the client wanted me to add something similar to the image which he sent me below.
As you can see in the screenshot above I chose to use the colour blue which I used previously on the branding of their organisation. I used the colour blue for the titles and text and added a shadow effect to the text in order for them to stand out. The font that I used was Bangla MN Regular which gives it a professional look and is easier to read.

Above is the image which the client took inspiration from and wanted me to implement this onto my booklet design. He wasn’t fond of the plain background and wanted some sort of pattern just like the image above. I had to then experiment with background design of the booklet and had to ensure the wallpaper wasn’t too light that you can’t notice it or too dark that it’s in the way of the information.
Above is the final version of the first two pages where I have made the changes on and I feel like it is complete for now.

First Design Process
Above shows the first design process of my booklet design, which may change later on during the process. As these pictures were of very poor quality most likely due to being old I requested new pictures, mostly recent images which are of high quality which means I will have to play around with the images again.

Colours
The colours I will be using for my booklet design are blue, black, green and white. The blue colour I will be using for this booklet is the same as the one I used previously when I done a full branding for a project which was part of this organisation. Previously for this organisation I have created a Logo, Signage, Plaque and Merchandise Design

Booklet Design Ideas

Above shows me spilling out some ideas onto paper in order for me to understand how to go about this. As the booklet is of 16 pages and of an A5 size I will create this booklet using an A4 landscape document which will then be split into half to contain 2 pages.

CBO Services and Activities Booklet - Previous Design
Below shows a few pages of their previous booklet. I can now see what I have to work with. The booklet that I will be designing will be designed from scratch having a flowing layout throughout the booklet, a set colour scheme, high quality images and 1 or 2 fonts.

Exposure
What I noticed with the booklet design was, that many people will be seeing it which includes people who are high up in status such as MP’s and councillors. The target audience for this organisation are mainly people who are part of the Sandwell Community. Sandwell alone has a population of 316,720 (June’14) and 65.8% of the population are White British, 34.2% are from other ethnic groups (Mar'11). CBO will open up their Play Area to the community and will use this to give out their booklets and bring the community together. Whilst the play area is open to the community CBO will give a presentation to the important people of the community which includes MP’s, Councillors and Mayors and CEO’s of other organisations as mentioned above. The booklet will be placed on their seat so this will be the first thing they’ll see before they sit down. This is why it is important that they colour, layout, typography and images are up to a high quality standard and it engaging to the readers.

Starting Process
In order to see what I was working with, my client sent me their previous booklet design. By having a look at it I knew straight away that it needed re-designing as there were so many problems to it. It looked really unprofessional and out dated and looked like something which was probably designed by one of their own colleagues on word or publisher. The fonts used were not really suitable for the people that were or would be viewing it. I also noticed that the colours used were in consistent and a range of different colours were used so the designs were not flowing. The images were also of a low quality so I would request recent good quality pictures to be used on the updated booklet design. The booklet given to me was out dated so there was quite a few information on there missing which will be given to me through email once the client has proof read through the information.
