Shoutout to characters that are both genuinely deeply kind and also genuinely terrifying and willing to spill buckets worth of blood to get something done. And neither of these are an act, they're just both very true.

“As Frodo was borne towards them the great pillars rose like towers to meet him. Giants they seemed to him, vast grey figures silent but threatening. Then he saw that they were indeed shaped and fashioned: the craft and power of old had wrought upon them, and still they preserved through the suns and rains of forgotten years the mighty likenesses in which they had been hewn. Upon great pedestals founded in the deep waters stood two great kings of stone: still with blurred eyes and crannied brows they frowned upon the North. The left hand of each was raised palm outwards in gesture of warning; in each right hand there was an axe; upon each head there was a crumbling helm and crown. Great power and majesty they still wore, the silent wardens of a long-vanished kingdom.”

— A little more caution from you… that is no trinket you carry. — I carry nothing. — Indeed?

i would pay several hundred dabloons to see orlando bloom play a book-accurate legolas. i completely understand how they probably had to tone his character down or else he would’ve taken all the spotlight lol, but can you imagine orlando bloom fucking SCREAMING at the sight of a balrog

one thing i truly love is that, when youre a lotr fan, theres SO MUCH things to discover. (yeah no shit)
sometimes its like if you specialize yourself in one theme, and youre a huge fan of this theme so you know quite everything abt it. for example, one of the races (hobbits, dwarves, men, elves..), a place, a part of the history..
and you discover that what you know is SO SMALL compared to everything else.
like, for one year now im a huge fan of Hobbits. but theres still some things i dont know about this folk. and i dont know a shit about elves, Numenor and all.
so thats amazing !! even if you get bored with a specific lotr theme, you can always turn to others. YOU CAN. ALWAYS. DISCOVER. NEW THINGS.
idk how to explain myself lmao. im so tired that i cant even make a good sentence in french tday, so in english...
#exactly!!!#lotr#lord of the rings#middle earth#tolkien#the hobbit#the silmarillion#tolkien elves#hobbits#tolkien dwarves

july 6th 2024… to june 23 2025. 🤦♀️
it’s almost been a year exactly since i bought it, and i didn’t really start reading it until last week. to be fair, i didn’t want to read that copy bc it’s hardback. this is the copy i’m reading now, it was $8 and i can mark it up.

i’m gonna buy myself a copy of the silmarillion today so i can read it when i finish return of the king probably in the next day or two 😁

imagine being éowyn in the lord of the rings trilogy. your uncle the king is being mind controlled by an evil wizard until said evil wizard's cooler version shows up and frees him. he is accompanied by an elf, a dwarf, and the hottest guy you've ever met. the hot guy also happens to be 87 years old and maybe still not over his immortal elf girlfriend but he respects and listens to you so you're shooting your shot. your geriatric hotguy situationship turns you down the night before the biggest battle ever then goes ghost hunting in the mountains. you decide to go to battle because you'll either help save your people or die in a really cool and honorable way. you then kill middle earth satan's number one henchman with the power of loophole and being a woman (you are also helped in doing this by a 4 foot tall stoner). then you get to marry faramir. 10/10 no notes my girl went through it all
