El ornitorrinco es posiblemente el animal más extraño: es un mamífero pero pone huevos, tiene pico de pato, cola de castor, patas de nutria y es venenoso.

Tiene electrorreceptores para localizar presas, ojos con conos dobles, no tiene estómago y tiene 10 cromosomas.

Es fluorescente y brilla bajo la luz ultravioleta.
