There's a genre of Asian-American person I keep running into where they have American left wing politics but as a result of trying to reconnect with their home culture accidentally(?) buying into the extremely reactionary nationalistic politics of their motherland under a leftist guise

And like I definitely understand the temptation to embrace nationalism as a part of embracing cultural pride in a country that has Failed To Be Normal About Asians since the dawn of time, but also like. Resist that temptation anyway idk what to tell you
