I needed a full season about Izzy training Stede, with more epic fails and 'look at me, Izzy, I did it right!' moments and more shirtless Izzy and maybe shirtless Stede and maybe Izzy being bullied into a fancy outfit for a fuckery and maybe the crew making a big fucking birthday party for Izzy and Stede buying him something thoughtful and-and... I just needed MORE of those two together.

What if Crowley could change his species of snake at will? 🐍

In Aziraphale's defense, Crowley wasn't a rattlesnake when he put him in the box. Crowley could obviously get out whenever he likes, but it’s actually kind of fun.

None of us are appreciating enough that Stede Bonnet read his little books and really decided he was gonna be a pirate just like the ones he'd read about...

And he fucking did it. AND he went to sea, met Blackbeard, beat Izzy hands in a duel, kicked Calico Jack Rackham off his ship, sailed with the pirate queen and stole his ship back from her, murdered the infamous pirate Ned Low and then topped Blackbeard to celebrate.

What a fucking legend.

The 'fisherman Ed' part of s2 e8 has been bothering me for reasons other than that I didn't find it funny and just felt it wasted precious time in an episode with so much to tie up, and I think I've just worked out why.

It's because it shows negative character growth on Ed's part.

Showing Ed be bad at something could have been a really great moment where he finally understands more about Stede and how he feels about his failings, it could have been a moment to show Ed's growth as a character from the start of s2 to now - where he is less selfish/self-absorbed and CHOOSES to leave the fishermen because he sees that he's causing problems for them, just to fulfil his own needs - instead it just doubles down on his worst traits:

Blaming other people for his failings

Reacting to even justly earned criticism with anger

Not listening to other people/their problems

Being unempathetic to the struggles of others

You've got these two very poor fishermen who need to do their job well to get paid, who are hungry and tired after trying to get their job done despite Ed's interference and ineptitude, and Ed accidently ruins their dinner and just doesn't absorb the vibes of their annoyance at all. And then, when they finally snap and get angry with him, he reacts by calling them dicks, like they're being MEAN because they just want to do their job and get paid and not have to babysit a grown man who's costing them time, efficiency and supplies. All because his 'journey back to nature' is more important than their livelihoods.

I've seen people call this 'Ed's white woman tourist era' and they're right, it's exactly the same shallow, selfish, poverty tourism that a certain type of tourist propagates. And yet this is the moment that Ed's meant to be at his closest to redemption?

It feels like a massive step backwards to me and once again, robs Ed of agency because he's made to leave the fishermen, instead of choosing to.

I had the realization that the reason I'm not a huge Stizzy shipper because when I really think about all the possible dynamics between Ed, Izzy, and Stede, I genuinely think Izzy and Stede would be the most functional at the end of the day

Which is fucking wild when you look at the... everything about them

I love most Stizzy fics but my pet peeve is when they're fighting or brawling without weapons and Izzy quickly loses because of Stede's "height and weight advantage" (and that's when he still had both legs, mind.) Like, I'm sorry, what height advantage?? Stede has all of 2 inches on Izzy. Weight advantage? Stede's chest and shoulders are a bit broader, but Izzy's fucking ripped, and he's got some padding over those muscles too while Stede looks skinnier in comparison. It's hard to even guess which of them weighs more, but the difference would be pretty insignificant. And, most importantly, Izzy's one of the best fighters in the Caribbean. Even if he's a lot more skilled with a sword than fighting bare-handed, he's doubtless been in plenty of brawls and has a lot of experience.

I fully understand the temptation to make Izzy lose to Stede because it's funny and hot as fuck and I heartily approve but look, there's no need to resort to those sexist and homophobic Yaoi tropes where you make one of the MM pairing characters smaller and physically weaker than he was in canon just so he can be a sub or a bottom. Izzy could still lose to Stede simply because Stede loves to fight dirty and is actually insane and one lucky mf while Izzy tends to get overconfident and thinks he doesn't need tricks like that, and he seems to lose a few braincells whenever he's around Stede (at least in S1).

I am not a Stizzy shipper, but I do very genuinely believe that if Stede and Ed hadn't met as soon as they did and Ed kept sending Izzy to follow Stede around, it could have turned into the funniest homoerotic rivals stories ever

With Izzy only chasing after Stede because Ed told him to, but Stede doesn't believe that and thinks Izzy's just obsessed with him and they keep finding themselves in scenarios where Izzy has Stede at his mercy, but he's not supposed to kill him so Stede just gains a greater appreciation for Izzy's skill

And Izzy just keeps being baffled as to why Stede is still alive and then he sees him doing something cool and is like "Well. Fuck. He's hot"

I just think it's the funniest possible love story
