39. A tentative kiss
It'd been a long time since Thomas had been in a relationship, since he kissed... which considering he was all of 26 years old, maybe was a but troubling. Still, it was true. Not many people wanted to be anything committed with someone as crazy as Thomas... or at least as crazy as many people believed. Maybe he was starting to believe it himself.
...but Billie believed him. Maybe beyond what she should've, but that meant that belief was real. Not anything to use him, mold him to her own gain. She saw him as something magical, something to be kept safe and close. It made his heart flutter more than it had in years. He couldn't help it that he felt so close to her, why he thought maybe something could be there between them.
In a quiet moment, he pressed his lips to hers softly; it was barely more than a feather-light touch. It was all he could muster, fearing she'd pull away.
