“Practice makes perfect,” Amy mused, pushing away her meal with a sigh. “S’pose I can’t begrudge a little extra prep in times like these. What kinda practice are we talkin’?”

“We’ve been out here for two weeks and the only first contact we’ve made is with a dying worm.”

“The stars are going the wrong way, sir.”

“Can’t have my comm officer falling asleep on the bridge.”

“Instead of disabling a vessel, we’d end up destroying it. And probably ourselves in the process.”

“All this should’ve been dealt with before we left Earth.”

“Have they detected any inhabited planets or vessels?”

“I hope you don’t expect everyone we run into out here to be hostile.”

“I don’t believe you were ever out quite this far.”

“We’ve corrected the problem but we’re still off by 0.02%. Its unacceptable.”

“Are you sure it’s not the simulations that are wrong?”

“How long would it take to arm a few torpedoes?”

“It’s time for a little practice.”

“Load another one; let’s try again.”

“Anyone sitting here?”

“Try the potatoes, they’re delicious.”

“It’s taken me a while, but I’ve grown quite attached to it.”

“Wasting time seems to be all we’ve been doing. Starting to get a little antsy.”

“We’ve been on the move for two weeks and haven’t seen a damn thing.”

“If I’m not mistaken, they are preparing to mate. Do you think they might let me watch?”

“Maybe they’re not interested in visitors.”

“We’re not breaking in, we’re just going to to make sure everything’s okay.”

“You’re chomping at the bit to find out what’s in there. Why should I be any different?” 

“There’s gonna be plenty of time to go exploring.”

“Whoever’s on that ship might not want us nosing around.”

“Maybe they could use our help.”

“You know that you and cheddar don’t get along.”

“Half the crew would give their eyeteeth to be going over there.” 

“They make me a little… claustrophobic.” 

“You’ve seen too many science fiction movies.”

“There are 15 dead people over there. We can’t leave.”

“You’re telling me that we should just leave them there?”

“I’d never seen that many dead people in one place before.”

“You have nothing to be ashamed of.”

“I screamed like a twelve-year-old.”

“You should be grateful your body of experience doesn’t include rooms full of corpses.”

“Nodbody else screamed.”

“It goes without saying that you’re going to encounter the unexpected.” 

“What’s the matter? The tension bothering you?”

“Must be great, not to let things bother you. No remorse, no guilt.”

“You got an answer for everything, don’t you?”

“We have got a code of behavior and we try to obey it.”

“This isn’t exactly Spanish we’re dealing with here. I’d be lucky if I’m getting half the vocabulary right.”

I wonder, how you even know who you are if you just do what everybody else thinks you should do?

I used to dance a lot when I was younger. And I didn’t want to stop doing it. I auditioned for drama school and then, luckily, I got my first job. There was never really a particular moment, more like moments of “I love this,” or scripts that you read, or films that you watch, or plays that you see, that make you want to keep doing it.

I think my head was always in books and stories. I just remember one day hearing the word actress and just being like, ‘Yeah, that’s it.’ It felt like that’s what I was supposed to do.
