Sterek as a ship is actually kinda mental from todays point of view and the fact that it was/is so popular really speaks volumes about the 2010s shipping culture and also the queerbaiting that was involved

i was rereading all waves desire the storm and i can't help but love your metaphor of theo placing himself in a trap by staying in beacon hills. he did try to leave, just once, but after he stays he knows that he can't leave because argent(but also liam). but staying means that he has to live surrounded by all the people he's hurt. he's also afraid of what argent and the sheriff could do to him.
but to liam, it's just so natural? theo's not placing himself in a trap, he's just staying with the pack and helping find monroe. as it should be. and theo really did want to leave and doesn't. to theo, he's doing something incredibly difficult, staying in one place and not having a goal of manipulation. but liam is trying and failing to understand how hard that can be for him.
the conflicting views are part of the reason i love your works so much. thank you!
Yes! All of that, exactly! I love, love, love contradictions like that, that simultaneously manage to be true because each person’s reality is subjective, even if the “objective” facts are the same. And it ends up being so revealing of who each of them are, at the end of the day: the ability to reverse-engineer them from what seems like it could be such an innocuous decision (Liam) to a monumental decision (Theo), and start teasing out how they could to be the people they are today.
Anyway, this was a lovely analysis to get. Thanks for taking the time to make and share it. 😊

I honestly have no idea how the sword/Skinwalkers prison works but imagine a new foe has another sword, and they want to get Theo off of the board because he's too difficult for them to get around by fighting or tricking or distracting or whatever so they can get to the McCall pack, so they send him back to the Skinwalkers prison just go get rid of him. When Liam finds out he immediately gets a sword (wether he takes the sword the badguy used or rebuilds the one he broke) and is like "I'm going to go and get him, you can come with me if you want" and a group from the pack goes into the skinwalker prison to get him out BUT Theo's stuck again in the endless loop of Tara killing him again and again so when he sees Liam and the others he just thinks that they're part of the prison who's come to kill him as well and he has to reckon with the idea of being killed by Liam and they have to convince him that they're real... (I don't know who the group would be. Definitely Liam. Maybe Scott because he would feel responsible for a member of his pack. Maybe Corey, because he's got those weird traveling powers. Maybe Lydia because, doesn't she have a connection to death or something?? And I think Alec would also come even though everybody but Liam tells him not to because I don't think there's a single way in hell that anybody is going to stop him from helping Theo.)
Interesting. I explored this a bit with pay attention to the accident, but not exactly in this way of Theo thinking that the pack was there to join Tara in torturing him.
I’ll think about it a bit, and see what I may be able to come up with, thanks for the idea!

Hello I've read abouttt 2/3rds of your teen wolf fics so far and they're all absolutely fantastic. They seriously hit all the spots. I've especially latched onto your interpretation of Theo and his various relationships, but also Alec and Nolan!! Oh my god they're actually so great.
Idk if you take prompt ideas or whatever but id love so see your take on the "person A is being mind controlled to hurt/kill person B" trope when it comes to Nolan and Alec. Or generally a fic that's focused on them again because seriously I wish there were a 100 more of those written in your style. I may be obsessed. Oops
Thank you! I’ve definitely hit a groove with some pretty well-established characterizations of the various TW personalities, so I’m glad they resonate with you—they very clearly resonate with me. 😊
I do love me some Alec and Nolan. I glanced off of this topic in dredging the ruins (full moon and Alec’s newness to being a werewolf at fault there), but I wouldn’t say I’ve done a full exploration. I’m intrigued! I’ll think it over, and see if anything sparks!
Thanks so much for the wonderful note, and for the idea.

What do you think about Theo leaving to work with Argent (or someone else) all across the country before him and Liam have a chance to get together? Everyone grows up, finishes college, lives their lives, with Theo hovering at the edges; present for holidays and the brief interludes between trips, but never long enough. They're older now. They still keep in touch, but its brief. Finally Argents got enough, he's retiring, spending more time in beacon hills. Theo is back. Fully back this time. He doesn't know where he fits anymore. Liam is there but he's different, older, and yet he's the same as he always was. What would happen if Theo and Liam find each other again when they're older?
Intriiiiging. This has definitely come up as a potential idea before, and I’ve touched on it in very small ways in other fics (stood at the vista, telegraph wires and the expedition set out), but not to the level that I think would be necessary to really explore it fully, and not exactly as you’ve outlined it.
I do like the idea a lot, and I’m going to spend some time chewing it over and see what may develop. Thank you for the prompt!

All i know is that Theo has chronic 'saving-everyone-under-their-official-government-name' syndrome and Liam had to forcefully wrestle the phone out of his hands to at least add an emoji to his name
guys what do we think theos contact name for liam and liams contact name for theo would be?? I want to hear ideas

I'd like to think he keeps it though. I'd like to think he offers it to any new werewolf the pack comes across. Anyone in need of an anchor. Everyone of Satomis pack is dead, there's no one left to carry her tradition. I think he makes it his responsibility, and he makes sure it lives on.
Liam was never gonna be able to use the sun the moon the truth again as his mantra after Brett's death, was he?

Shoutout to everyone telling Liam for 2 seasons "you're okay, you're okay, you're okay" and then this tragic, complexed, slutty gay guy comes along and looks him straight in the eye and says "you're not okay, you're not okay at all and there's no reason why you should be" and Liam BELIEVES him.
Liam has spent his whole life thinking he has to change and be different to be accepted and joining Scott's pack hasn't changed that: Liam still feels like he has to appear okay because that's what everyone expects of him.
And what happens is Theo comes along and is like "it's okay, you can stay here with me, just for a little while, you can stay here at rock bottom and catch your breath and then you can start climbing again, you can rest in my absence of expectation" and Liam BELIEVES him.
And what happens next is that Liam catches his breath and then stands up and takes Theo's hand and says "let's go back up" and when Theo tries to object because he is obviously convinced that he has no right to go back up Liam is like "it's okay, you can come with me, just for a little while, you can come back up and feel the real air and then you can go back down, you can breathe in my trust" and this time it's Theo who believes him.
Liam and Theo are at their lowest point and that's what makes everything happen: at least at the beginning it's not respect, or esteem or need, it's understanding. They know each other on a deeper level and understand each other like the reflection of a mirror. And this seems unable to change anything but actually changes the whole course of the narrative because Theo UNDERSTANDS Liam and Liam TRUSTS Theo and I want to die

running me over would hurt less than this scene
“You can’t take pain if you don’t care.” I’m going to stop you there Mason Hewitt. Allow me to remind you MASON, your werewolf best friend Liam, couldn’t take pain in 5x08. He tried to take Hayden’s pain and he COULDN’T. He only could in the car ACCIDENTLY when he kissed her.
Theo cared but he did not know how to take pain. They all learn. Isaac had to be shown, Liam had to learn and eventually Theo did too. He took none other than Gabe’s pain. He saw himself in Gabe. Another scared, manipulated and misunderstood kid. He took Gabe’s pain in front of Mason and that was the best part. HE DID CARE MASON 😭
I love Mason with my whole heart so don’t come at me. That line from him just always bugged me considering the circumstances of the situation. If Theo didn’t care he would have left Mason in the sewers, but he didn’t. He specifically said ‘I can’t leave you.’

"True evil only comes from corrupting something truly good" in relation to Theo is so interesting.
You can totally look at it as Theo having been very good once, and having been corrupted into the evil he was. And thats heartbreaking enough.
But like in the context of the show its clearly meant to imply that Theo wasnt a wholly good person from the start. However, it also implies that he never reached true evil either. He was a failed chimera after all.
He wasn't truly good so he cant be truly evil. Its either both or nothing. He has always been neither. A middle thing. A grey area. Like most humans are id argue.
Yes, Theo was never a wholly good person, which is what the doctors took advantage of. But they only corrupted him so far. And it didnt hold. And he changed. And he was human again, in the end.

Please don't go there with Nolan and Alec; the two never met, and nothing in the show indicates otherwise. Alec was found running from hunters; he's a werewolf, which means Nolan likely is terrified of him and would stay well clear. You risk turning the small Nolan fandom into the Marauders from Harry Potter. Shipping a character who only appeared briefly with an established character who never knew each other canonically. Let that sink in for a moment. Please don't bring that here.
You must be new to fandom huh?
Well, unfortunately I am indeed an ex marauders fan, so I will absolutely take every single small character and give them actual depth and a personality (and a boyfriend).
Rare pairs have existed for decades and are an integral part of fandom! and all you need to do is be a liiiittle bit open and then I swear they'll make so much sense to you.
Nolan is such an interesting character and if you look at him post canon its absolutely possible that he gets integrated into the McCall pack, and in doing so slowly learns to overcome his fear!! That whole struggle would make him soo much more interesting!! And giving him a werewolf love interest is just adding to that. The juxtaposition of liking someone for who they are and yet not being entirely comfortable of the other part of who they are?? Wanting very desperately to not be scared and yet not entirely managing... Come on you cant tell me it wouldnt be fascinating.
Alec is in the show for like 1 minute so we can really do whatever we want with him. For me all of this is part of the joy of fandom.
However, another joy of fandom is the fact that you can choose what you want to headcanon and interact with!! I like my interpretation of post-canon but if you dont, you can just block me or the specific tags :)
