LOCAL BOXER GUNNED DOWN

Local boxer gunned down as crime wave rocks Hell’s Kitchen

Police responding to reports of gunfire found a local boxer shot to death in an alley in Hell’s Kitchen, authorities said. Few details have been released regarding the investigation, which is being spearheaded by detectives from the NYPD.

Coroner’s officials were yet to formally identify the victim; however, family and friends identified him as “Battlin’ Jack” Murdock, a local boxer from Hell’s Kitchen. The murder took place just hours after his victory over Crusher Creel.

Hell’s Kitchen is experiencing its worst crime wave in recent history, prompting a cry for help from city leaders. Even after a renewed focus on troublesome areas and more street patrols, not much has changed in the crime-ridden neighborhood.

Locals in Hell’s Kitchen are voicing their concern about what they say is an uptick in crime in their neighborhood. One resident, who wishes to stay anonymous, said “It’s starting to escalate a lot. I just hope the police get a handle on things, because it’s getting bad.”

Battlin’ Jack is survived by his son, Matthew.
