I'm composing a long meta about why it's incredibly wrong-headed and misogynistic to assume that original zutara shippers were too stupid to see Zuko's redemption telegraphed a mile away and thus only shipped it because they were "romanticizing abuse" that also boils down to "some women want to be tied up and that's okay, and exploring that through cartoon villain-lite characters is possibly the safest way to express that and has nothing to do with wanting to be abused or wanting to abuse others."

You can be uncomfortable with that. You can even be uncomfortable with it because of power dynamics related to race or gender. You can say "that isn't my zutara" and that's fine, and no anti has a right to harass you or make you "prove" that you aren't shipping for reasons they disapprove of. Not everything is for you and that's okay. What you can't do is act like every woman with a slightly kinky thought in their head or who finds fictional villains attractive is romanticizing abuse or is doing it for racist reasons. With the recent drama it is even more apparent that this stuff originates from radfem rhetoric about how all men are predators and straight and bisexual women or afab people are abusing themselves, which in turn leads to transphobia and the infantalization of women of color and other marginalized women.

That's one of the biggest reasons I was turned off by the side of the fandom that was like "I'm not a zutara anti, but you have to prefer KA because..." lol no you don't. This kind of stuff is misogynistic nonsense whether it comes from antis or from within the zutara fandom itself.
