With the universal rise of smart phones and tablets has come a myriad of high quality photos at the hands of every user. My iphone alone captured over 2,000 pictures of my six-month backpacking trip through South America--leaving me with tangible memories of behemoth glaciers, snow-peaked mountains and glittering lagoons along the way. In line with the dominant photo sharing trend of our generation, the majority of my photos ended up in the hands of Instagram--meticulously filtered and publicly appreciated. However, as I get ready to move to Austin into my new apartment, I’ve decided I want to do something with all my travel photos. For today’s DIY post, I’m offering some creative ways to display your cherished Instagrams. I pulled ideas directly from our Pinterest board.
Instagram Photo Wall Display
Tumblr media
I found this display on a Wordpress blog called LiveFlourish. She uses four pieces of pine wood (stained with dark walnut) to mount on; d-ring hangers to attach on the back, and bulldog clips to attach the photos on the front. The perfect square of the Instagrams give it a clean and funky look. See how she did it here.
Giant Framed Photo Collage
Tumblr media
This is super easy and looks very professional in my opinion. My advice is to make sure all the photos are evenly spaced to keep that clean, modern look. This idea is from House To Home Blog.
Large Frame with Twine and Clips
Tumblr media
This is one of my favorites because you can find a really unique frame at a thrift store for less than $10. It’s all about what kind of look you’re going for. This project is from East Coast Creative Blog. They use an empty frame, twine wiring, and mini clothespins. A great idea if you want to be able to easily change up the photos on display!
String Your Photos
Tumblr media
This project comes from the Craver Compound, and I found it on Apartment Therapy. Here, photos are attached with binder clips on to wires strung along the wall. This option looks particularly edgy when you have photos of varying sizes.
Hopefully one of these photo display ideas inspired you print out your awesome pictures! I can’t wait to set up my own display in my new apartment. Happy DIY Day from your friends at Quo!

As we all know, apartment searching in a big city can be stressful. However, utilizing Quo can make finding your new place a whole lot easier. Here are a few tips to get the most out of your Quo membership.
1. Fill out as much of the form as possible
Tumblr media
It might take an extra couple of seconds, but filling out the form will expedite the start of your search process. The questions we ask are specifically chosen to help your Concierge pinpoint the best apartments for your lifestyle.
2. Estimate a budget range
Determining your apartment budget can be tough. How can it not be when you’re committing that much money on a monthly basis? But do a gut check and try to get your best estimate on how much you can spend without overextending yourself.  Sometimes in life sacrifices are necessary, and we want to work with you to maximize the bang for your buck based on your must-haves and nice-to-haves. The budget gives us a great starting point.
3. Location, location, location
Yep, that old cliché is alive and well when finding an apartment.  Knowing where you may want to live is equally as important as knowing your budget. New York City is full of so many different, amazing neighborhoods -- finding the perfect one can be quite a task. This is where we step in! Our Concierges are neighborhood experts--in fact, we handpick your Concierge based on the desired location information you give us.  Neighborhood A could get you Zach, Neighborhood B would get you Dan; our Concierges are passionate neighborhood-know-it-alls and we want to make sure you get the best one for your lifestyle and needs. Being as specific as possible initially helps us help you to the best of our ability.
4. Know when to start your apartment search
For the non-New Yorkers, every city is really very different.  For example, if you’re looking for an apartment in Downtown Cleveland, you’ll want to start looking at least two months in advance, so starting your search around the 8-10 week mark would be your sweet spot.
If you’re not familiar with the New York City apartment market (oh boy, is it something else), we can help you. When searching for an apartment in a city like New York (or San Francisco), it is ideal to start your search 4-6 weeks before your move-in date. Apartment searching too far in advance can leave you with disappointing results as property managers may not have a full idea of the apartment inventory that will be vacant on your move-in date.
5. Let’s talk, but at your convenience
Communication is key. Whether it be through email or a quick phone call (that iPhone is still a phone after all), it’s important for us to stay in touch so we can make sure you get access to the most recent rental data on the market. And of course, the better we know you, the faster we can find your perfect apartment. We’re all about using your time wisely, so sometimes 4 minutes over the phone is more efficient than 8 emails back and forth. Plus, we have beautiful voices and you’d be missing out if you didn’t get to hear them.
And don’t hold back -- we love feedback. Let us know how we’re doing!

Urban Mudder (July 25)
Tumblr media
Known as “Tough Mudder’s cousin in the city,” this event is just as it sounds. Taking place on Randall's Island Park, Urban Mudder challenges athletes to trek through a 5-mile obstacle course. There's music along the route as well as food trucks, beer and other fun you would expect from Mudder events. For more information and to register, visit urbanmudder.com
Harlem Week (July 26 - August 22)
Tumblr media
What started out as a one-day tribute to Harlem has evolved over 40 years into a month long celebration of the community's rich economic, political and cultural history. Harlem Week is a series of events throughout the summer that bring together all age groups and cultures to celebrate the unique and diverse essence of Harlem. This celebration offers over 100 events throughout the months of July and August including a children's festival, a “dancing in the street” party, fashion show, sporting events and much more. NYC Apartment Tip: Fake Walls
Tumblr media
Most young professionals in New York are all too familiar with temporary walls (a.k.a. temp walls, fake walls, pressurized walls).  They’re a staple for young adults moving to and living in the city. Temp walls allow you to make that sweet two-bedroom a three or even four bedroom pad, thus splitting the cost of the space so you can actually afford to live there.
If you haven’t lived in NYC, temp walls probably seem like a foreign concept. Most people outside of NYC rent a two bedroom apartment that actually comes with two bedrooms -- but alas, such is not life for many young New Yorkers.
The walls are pressurized which basically means that they pop in and out without being nailed into the floor or ceiling. This prevents most damage when the walls are removed to ensure you get your security deposit back -- it should be noted the walls themselves usually have a security deposit as the companies that install them like to reuse them if possible.
There are all different types of temp walls to choose from. You can go with your standard floor to ceiling, which is very similar to the normal wall that all know and love. Then we have the windowed temp wall, which has a plastic window pane on the top. This is generally used when constructing a bedroom without a window in it -- or to allow light into the living room which otherwise wouldn’t have a window. The final type of temp wall is one that starts at the floor but does not fully reach the ceiling. Some buildings will not allow a temporary wall to touch the ceiling in order to avoid damage once the wall is removed.
When moving to or around NYC, be sure to ask if the building allows pressurized walls and if so what type, policies vary greatly so it’s best to be fully aware before putting pen to paper.
Wall prices range greatly, but expect it to cost at least $1000 (perhaps a small price in order to cut your monthly rent in half) in addition to a security deposit.

DIY Day: Transform Old into New
Tumblr media
Happy Hump Day, friends! For today’s DIY project, I’m giving an old, worn-out foot stool a spankin’ new look with a paint job and a little bit of simple upholstering. If you have furniture lying around that you thought could never be used again, this is the perfect way to give it back some life.
Tumblr media
What you’ll need:
Furniture of choice
Fabric
Staple gun
Paint and paint brush
Tarp
Measuring tape
A piece of foam rubber or cotton batting (only necessary if worn out cushion needs extra padding)
Step 1:
Measure the length and width of the area to be reupholstered. The fabric of choice should be 5 inches longer all around to ensure you get full coverage. Set fabric aside.
Step 2:
Before beginning to paint, I removed the top part of the foot stool and set it aside. Obviously this is only possible if the furniture you’re using has a removable cushion. Add a thick first layer of paint with even brush strokes in the same direction. Make sure to fill in all the small crevices. Let it dry for a couple of hours before painting a second layer.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Step 3:
You can complete the upholstering process while waiting for the paint to dry. First, I removed the existing fabric so I was just left with the wooden panel. Place the wooden panel on face down on a piece of foam rubber. Center the foam rubber and wooden panel on the fabric.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Step 4:
It might be helpful to have two sets of hands for this step. Fold in the two long sides of the fabric over the panel so it’s pulled nice and tight. Staple along the inside using a staple gun. Continue this process throughout the rest of the folding process--I folded my fabric in as if I was wrapping a present. Once you’re done stapling, your cushion is complete!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Step 5:
If needed, add that second layer of paint and let it dry for a couple hours. Press the cushion back on to the frame, and you’re all set!
Tumblr media
Good as new, right? Once you’ve completed your first reupholstering project and see how easy it is, it’s hard to not want to keep going. More to come! Happy DIY Day from your friends at Quo!

Introducing: Neighborhood Spotlight Series
Tumblr media
Here at Quo, we strive not only to provide insight into your apartment search but also to find you a neighborhood that caters to your lifestyle. That’s why starting this week, our Quo Concierges will be posting a “Neighborhood Spotlight” series featuring Cleveland neighborhoods on our blog. Cleveland has over 20 diverse, up-and-coming neighborhoods, and we’ll be providing you with a unique guide to each one.
We'll be traveling from the east side to the west side. If you're from Cleveland, you know the general rule that east siders stay on the east side and west siders stay on the west side. However, I'd like to offer the idea that switching it up is a good thing. Go ahead. Start exploring your city. Cleveland is so culturally diverse that failing to do so would be doing yourself a disservice. We will be covering bars, restaurants, attractions, nightlife and all the things that make a city hustle and bustle.  When you're done reading our series, you'll be neighborhood experts yourself.
The first neighborhood that we'll featuring this week will be the Uptown/University Circle neighborhood.  So stay tuned!

DIY Day: Chalkboard Jars
Tumblr media
My inspiration for today’s DIY project derives from treasured childhood memories of big black chalkboards--you know, those ancient teaching tools on classroom walls since then replaced by giant touch screens. The essential item for this undertaking is chalkboard paint (my new obsession), which you can find for cheap at stores like Home Depot, Lowes and Walmart.
Tumblr media
Today we’re transforming your wine bottles and/or mason jars into unique storage containers and lovely decorations.
Tumblr media
What you’ll need:
Soap and warm water
Chalkboard paint (I used Rust-Oleum Specialty 11 oz. Chalkboard Flat Black Spray Paint from Home Depot)
Chalk (various colors, of course)
Mason jars, wine bottles, or any other glass surface you’d like to paint
Newspapers or plastic tarp to protect ground
Step 1:
Clean your jars thoroughly with soap and warm water, making sure to remove all adhesive completely from the glass. If soap doesn’t do the trick, try using Goo Gone. Let the jars fully dry.
Step 2:
Place the jars on a tarp in a well-ventilated area, like an open garage. Different types of chalkboard paint involve different processes, so make sure to follow the directions on the back of your particular can. With the spray paint, I shook the can for about a minute before applying an even layer to the jar in a back and forth motion from about 10-12 inches away. After a couple more minutes, I applied a second coat. Let the paint dry for 24 hours (or whatever time the directions for your paint suggest).
Tumblr media
Step 3:
You’re all set to do what you please! I filled my jars up with different types of nuts for kitchen storage and labeled them appropriately with colored chalk. I transformed my wine bottle into a unique flower vase for my room. This could be an awesome personalized birthday gift idea as well!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I can’t get over how cool these turned out and how easy it was. Happy DIY Day from your friends at Quo :)

Harlem Hotspots
Tumblr media
Looking for good food and a good time in Harlem? Your friends at Quo handpicked their favorite hotspots in the bustling NYC neighborhood.
LIDO
Tumblr media
Described by an elite yelp reviewer as having “sleek and swanky décor along with a bit of a romantic ambiance,” Lido is one of the newest hotspots in Harlem. Located on Frederick Douglass Boulevard, the Italian restaurant is known for their bottomless mimosa brunch. You don’t want to miss it!
HARLEM TAVERN
Tumblr media
Located on the corner of 116th and Frederick Douglass Boulevard sits Harlem Tavern. Featuring a spacious beer garden, extensive food menu and 13 HD big screens to catch every game, this place is perfect for large parties. Stop by any night of the week and you’re sure to have a good time.
Weekly Events:
Tuesday: Lobster Tuesdays/Live Music
Wednesday: Karaoke
Thursday: Ladies’ Night
Saturday/Sunday: Live Jazz Brunch
RED ROOSTER
Tumblr media
Another staple of Central Harlem is brought to you by celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson. Red Rooster offers comfort food which--as Zagat describes--“celebrates the roots of American cuisine and the diverse culinary traditions of the neighborhood.” If you’re trying to watch your figure or Southern food isn’t really something you're going for, stop by the bar for amazing drinks and great people watching.
HARLEM SHAKE
Tumblr media
Certainly a more casual spot than the previous three, Harlem Shake simply offers burgers, hotdogs, and shakes, but in a more modern, diner-like setting. Serving up breakfast, lunch and dinner, stopping by this Harlem hot spot is a must, you won’t be disappointed.
LEVAIN BAKERY
Tumblr media
With only three locations in Manhattan, you don’t want to miss this tiny bakery’s signature oversized chocolate chip cookies, brioche and scones. Check them out in the Upper West Side, Harlem, and Levain Hamptons – Wainscott.
There you have it! Enjoy these Harlem Hotspots and keep your eyes peeled for other NYC neighborhood spotlights!

The Top 3 Bars in Williamsburg (That You Haven’t Heard of Yet)
Tumblr media
If someone were to describe Williamsburg in one word, they would probably use the term “hip.” To fit in in this neighborhood, it’s important to develop a healthy appreciation for things that haven’t become cool yet (and a healthy disdain for those things that have). That’s why we’ve picked out three really great bars — that you haven’t heard of yet.
1. Featherweight - 135 Graham Ave
Tumblr media
Located in East Williamsburg (don’t anger the locals by calling it Bushwick), this speak-easy-style cocktail bar is the epitome of a hidden gem. The second-story bar is located behind an unmarked door down a long hallway, but don’t be deterred; this shabby-chic place is classy and low-key and a great place to start the night or waste it away chatting with an old friend. Although it’s small and dimly lit, there is a distinctly upscale atmosphere to the tin-roofed room and the music plays at a perfect volume for casual bar conversations. There is a shifting seasonal menu, but the bartenders are always happy to take on a challenge based on your personal taste preferences. The prices are fair, the clientele is interesting, and the drinks are delicious - just make sure you go early to get a seat!
2. Noorman’s Kil - 609 Grand St
Tumblr media
Brooklyn is known for its plethora of quirky artisanal shops and restaurants, and Noorman’s Kil proudly follows in this tradition. This roomy bar has a classic feel and is located on Grand Street, just east of the BQE, but it pulls in folks from all-over with an original concept: whiskey and grilled cheese. With a selection of over 400 whiskeys, Norman’s Kil is not lacking in terms of alcoholic selection, but the owners have decided to expand their offerings to include delicious and gourmet, locally-sourced grilled cheese sandwiches. Sit down and enjoy a drink and a snack in the main, industrial-chic room, or outside in the garden. Pro tip — you can never go wrong with the Vernice: Ricotta, Nutella, and fruit preserves on sourdough.
3. Duff’s - 168 Marcy Ave
Tumblr media
Enough with the classy, and in with the brassy. Right off the side of the BQE, walking into Duff’s is like leaving earth and entering another dimension. Duff’s is a metal bar in every sense, and its regulars are dedicated metal-heads, but even dabblers and non-listeners are welcome here. Duff’s is the ultimate dive, and a great place to end the night and meet all sorts of interesting folks. The drinks are cheap, and a visit to Duff’s is not complete until you spin the giant prize wheel. If you’re lucky, you’ll win drinks and a tee shirt, and if you’re unlucky, you may win a dog biscuit, or a shot of their abhorrent “Jesus Juice”.

The Chicagoan’s Guide to a Low-Key 4th of July
Tumblr media
Fourth of July weekend is upon us! For Chicagoans, America’s holiday means [mostly] three things: the great outdoors, friends, and a LOT of booze. For those of you who are sticking around the city for the weekend (and aren’t going to see The Grateful Dead at Soldier Field), check out Quo’s three handpicked cheap and fun ways to spend the Fourth.
1. Municipal Bar
216 W Ohio St.
In my opinion, Municipal has been one of the more underrated bars in River North. With a unique beer selection, tons of booths, friendly staff and an expansive beer selection, the only reason I could think of for why it wasn’t immediately popular was that it was lacking outdoor space. And would you look at that? The outdoor patio has arrived! This weekend you can count on the 90-foot outdoor space filling up with 20 and 30-somethings sipping on their drinks of choice.
4th of July Specials: $4 Red, White and Blue Moscow Mules, $2 Individual Sliders (any slider off the menu)
2. The Pony’s Frosty Fourth
Tumblr media
1638 W. Belmont Ave.
On Belmont Avenue in Lakeview, The Pony Inn is a go-to spot for festive events and holidays like the Stanley Cup a couple weeks ago and now the 4th of July. This Saturday, the two-story bar is hosting a “Frosty July 4th Party” featuring $2 Frosty Mugs of Redd’s Apple Ale, Miller Lite and Blue Moon. Snag a spot on the second floor so you can enjoy the open air setting and retractable rooftop. There will be a brand sampling and prize giveaway at 10 pm.
3. North Avenue Beach
Tumblr media
1600 N. Lake Shore Drive
I know where I’ll be for my day off of work tomorrow--with a lot of friends and a lot of mimosas at North Ave. Beach. Take advantage of what’s looking to be a perfect weather forecast for the weekend and play some volleyball or just relax. This spot also happens to be a great place to catch the Navy Pier fireworks if you feel like sticking around!
Go grab your patriotic attire and gear up for the weekend! Have a safe and Happy 4th!

5 NYC Spots for a Low-Key Fourth of July
Tumblr media
It’s right after Pride weekend in New York City, and it’s hard to believe another action-packed weekend is upon us--can we catch a break?! For some New Yorkers, the 4th of July just has far too much hype (I happen to be one of them). If you live in this amazing city, you know that just about everyone leaves the boroughs they call home to head out to wherever their getaway might be. Here are a few intimate places to celebrate the Fourth if you are not one of the lucky New Yorkers able to escape the madness.
1. BERRY PARK
Tumblr media
4 Berry St., Brooklyn, New York
If you care less about fireworks and more about atmosphere this Fourth of July, then Berry Park might be for you. This Germanic Greenpoint beer hall has one heck of a European beer list and an expansive bi-level rooftop spanning 3,500 square-feet. If these features don’t seem enticing enough for a low key Fourth, then consider their 13-foot television screen and beautiful views of Manhattan and McCarren Park.
2. Fireworks Spectacular at Surf City
Tumblr media
1 Marin Blvd Jersey City, 07302
Although the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks are no longer shooting off from the Hudson, Surf City Mega Bar and Restaurant has one of the most spectacular views of the state's biggest fireworks display, which takes place nearby at Liberty State Park. There is no cover, which means more money for you to spend on frozen drinks and delicious surf and turf food options.
3. Fireworks at Brooklyn Grange
Tumblr media
Brooklyn Grange Navy Yard Farm, Brooklyn
Brooklyn Grange is a commercial urban rooftop farm at the Brooklyn Navy Yard which spans a total of 2.5 acres and produces over 50,000 lbs of organically-grown vegetables each year. This is one barbecue with a view you won't want to miss out on. Don’t miss out on their Southern-style comfort food like “not-so-hot” fried chicken, smoked pulled pork, baked five-cheese mac and cheese and other offerings from Bed-Stuy’s Peaches HotHouse. After your meal you can dance in the moonlight at the rooftop dance party--that is, if you can get up from the table. Brooklyn Grange also offers a lot of other events ranging from yoga, workshops, cooking classes and private parties. Check them out here.
4. Fireworks on the Hornblower Hybrid
Tumblr media
South St New York, 10006 (boards at pier 15)
As one of the newest and most eco-friendly yachts in the New York Harbor, this just might be the most intimate venue to watch fireworks this 4th of July. Aboard the yacht guests will enjoy a classic American buffet with corn on the cob, codfish cakes, BBQ chicken breasts, pulled pork sliders and--of course--the open bar. The vessel will set sail in the East River, providing passengers with a clear view of the fireworks display happening right over their heads. If you don’t happen to snag a seat on the Hornblower Hybrid this Fourth, check out some of their other yachts and events.
5. Brooklyn Cyclones vs. Williamsport Crosscutters
Tumblr media
1904 Surf Ave, Brooklyn
Another low-key event to celebrate the Fourth is  a minor league baseball game at MCU Park in Brooklyn. Why fight the madness and crowds trying to watch the Macy’s 4th of July fireworks? At MCU Park you will not only get a game but post-game fireworks as well. Just on the other side of ballpark is the historic Luna Park, which offers a 4th of July fireworks display of its own and features 29 rides ranging from mild thrill to extreme thrill, carnival games and shops along the boardwalk. If you have a family this might be the ultimate All-American 4th of July event, so pack up the kids and head to Coney Island.
I hope you all have fun, safe weekend. Happy 4th of July from your friends at Quo!

DIY Day: Twine Hurricane
Tumblr media
Is it seriously July? WHEN DID THAT HAPPEN?! For today’s DIY post, I’m getting you ready for your 4th of July celebrations. This easy project is perfect to decorate an outdoor patio party or for any other occasion.
What you need:
A glue gun
A glass vase
12 feet of heavy twine rope (approx, depending on size of vase)
A thick candle (bought my 3x6 pillar candle at Pottery Barn)
Pebbles or sand (or anything else you think looks cool)
Tumblr media
First, I wrapped the length of the rope around the bottom of the vase until it was stacked to the level I wanted. (I wanted to keep the majority of the vase uncovered so that the light can shine through from the inside.) Make sure to cut off any excess rope with a scissors. I used the glue gun to glue the bottom layer nice and tight, and then didn’t use the glue again until the top layer. If the rope layers in between are tight enough, there should be no need for glue on every level. When you’re done gluing, make sure to tuck the top end of the rope in so that it looks nice and clean!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To give the vase a summery vibe, I went down to the beach by my house and collected a bunch of sand and colorful pebbles. I filled the vase a little under the level of the rope and then stuck the candle in the middle.
Tumblr media
There you have it! Your very own hurricane vase, made with your own hands. Happy DIY Day everyone! Have a fun and safe 4th of July weekend!

DIY Day: Wine Rack Office Organizer
Tumblr media
Did you just move in to your new apartment and find that your work space is cluttered and disorganized? Are you sifting aimlessly through drawers to find your essential office supplies? Today’s DIY idea is a clever organizational solution that gives your work space a cool vibe.
What you’ll need:
Stackable wine racks (find them for super cheap at Pier 1)
Cheap plastic cups (or any other container you find suitable)
Your office/craft supplies
I used an extra wine rack I already had at home, and the cups I had lying around just so happened to fit perfectly. However, stackable wine racks are a space-saver because they allow you to take advantage of vertical space.
Tumblr media
I gathered all the essential supplies I always need handy and organized them into each cup. These are the small supplies--like paper clips, post-it notes, pens, and staples--that always get lost in over-stuffed drawers.
Tumblr media
My new storage rack not only makes it easy to locate all my supplies, but it leaves space in my drawers for papers and other larger items. Why didn’t I do this sooner?
Tumblr media
Other uses: jewelry, coins, cooking spices, kitchen utensils
Have a DIY Day idea of your own? Send them to Maddie at [email protected] to be featured on our blog! Happy Hump Day, y’all!

Tumblr media
Who loves beer and baseball more than Dad? On Father’s Day, the White Sox are playing at home against the Texas Rangers. If you’re a Cubs fan, they’re playing the Los Angeles Dodgers at Wrigley Field the next day. Nothing says Chicago like a Chicago-style hot dog (yum) and those excessively large nachos. This is a perfect daytime activity for your whole family.
KAYAKING ON THE CHICAGO RIVER
Tumblr media
It’s supposed to be 75 and sunny on Sunday, so take advantage of the weather on the Chicago River. You can rent kayaks from various companies either for the day or at an hourly rate. If kayaking isn’t your thing, you can choose from other options like paddle boarding, canoeing, boating, or the popular architecture cruise. This is an awesome way to see the city and get the blood pumping!
TASTE OF RANDOLPH
Tumblr media
For years, the Taste of Randolph has been a highpoint for summertime Chicago street fests. The fact that it falls on Father’s Day this year will surely bring in an even bigger crowd. From June 19-21, this cross-cultural celebration will feature a broad range music, diverse artisans and delicious food from all your favorite restaurants and bars. Elements new to this year’s TOR include ice cold Corona brews as well as a Restaurant Oasis where attendees are given the chance to sample menu items during two 2-hour time frames. Send Dad the 2015 Food Lineup to get him pumped for Sunday!
RENT DIVVY BIKES
Tumblr media
Is Dad trying to get rid of “Dad Bod”? (Is that still a thing?) If so, get the fam together and rent Divvy bikes from one of their several locations around the city. For a scenic ride take the 18-mile Lakefront Trail along the coast of Lake Michigan. Stop at one of Dad’s favorite restaurants for an epic lunch and a cold beer. For some other Chicago bike adventure ideas, check out this Huffington Post article.
TREAT YO’ SELF (AND YOUR DAD)
Tumblr media
If your dad is like mine, he’s one of the most generous, kind-hearted people in your life. Treat him to a well-deserved dinner at one of Chicago’s famous restaurants. Common favorites are Mastro’s Steakhouse, Gene And Georgetti’s, Girl and the Goat, and the list goes on. If you’re looking for place to eat that’s offering something special for Dad, take a look below.
Hub 51: From 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM, Hub 51 is offering a Dad’s Day Brunch for $30 a person ($15 for kids 12 and under). Highlights include Short Ribs Benedict, Thick-Cut Brioche French Toast, a sushi bar and a dessert bar. Call 312-828-0051 to make a reservation.
Furious Spoon: This super hip ramen spot is offering a one-day-only special of their oxtail ramen. The $20 bowl--$10 for dads--includes miso broth, chaksu pork belly, white pepper chicken, marinated mushrooms, poached egg, garlic relish and oxtail meal. Uh, yeah. Sign me up.
Old Town Pour House: This Old Town favorite is celebrating Father’s Day with “Chill and Grill Week” from June 16-21. The restaurant is featuring delicious, meaty dishes like the Bacon Burger and 1/2 Slab Ribs.
There you have it! Give Dad a hug and treat him to a special day in this amazing city. Happy Father’s Day from your friends at Quo!

DIY Day: Decorative Jewelry Storage
Tumblr media
What’s taking up more space in your apartment: jewelry or empty booze bottles? This DIY idea kills two birds with one stone.
Tumblr media
My bracelets and necklaces are scattered all over my room--the vast majority of them knotted together and impossible to find. My solution to this problem wouldn’t be possible without my unrelenting affection for wine and beer combined with my inability to take out the recycling.
Tumblr media
As it turns out, most booze bottles are the perfect fit for jewelry storage. A plus is that it serves as an additional decorative statement for your room. I stacked my bracelets on an empty Lagunitas bottle and wrapped necklaces around last week’s Prosecco. Some bling for my booze, ya dig?

NBA Finals Edition: How to Navigate Downtown Cleveland
Tumblr media
Having issues avoiding traffic? Or maybe you took an Uber and are dealing with surge pricing.  Guess what? Quo has some helpful tips for you to arrive at the arena without hassle-free.  Our Cleveland Concierges were gracious enough to reveal their time-saving secrets just for you.
Public Transportation - RTA
Tumblr media
Cleveland has a nice public transportation system, highly rank by consumers. You can either take the Rapid (personal favorite) or the Bus.  The Rapid and Buses run well after the game is over, so you might even have time to stop at one of our favorite bars for a drink.
Riding Sharing Services
Tumblr media
Requesting a ride is a great alternative to getting to the game.  No one is more happy than I am about Cleveland finally having Uber and Lyft.  However, nothing is perfect.  Whether you're going to the game or leaving, you'll most likely run into surge pricing. Here some tips:
Make sure to download both apps. It's better to have 2 options.
Drivers have hotspots where they hangout.  Walk close to Public Square, or W. 6th St. to give yourself a better chance in catching a driver.
Plan ahead, say the Cavs are blowing the Warriors out by 50 in the 4th (I can only hope), call up that Uber or Lyft early and beat the crowds.
Drive and save on parking by parking about 15 minutes away (walking distance) and enjoy a nice walk or request a ride from there. This will save you money and time.
Taxi
Tumblr media
Remember the good old days when you had to catch a cab everywhere?! When surge pricing is ridiculous or it's too late to catch the Rapid, you might want to speed dial that taxi service.  Calling a cab might actually save you money, especially if you're traveling a long distance.

Stanley Cup Playoffs: Chicago Sports Bar Spotlight
Tonight is Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and Blackhawks fans all over Chicago are filling bars early to watch history take place. If the Blackhawks beat Tampa Bay tonight, this will be their first Stanley Cup win to take place at home. While Chicago is filled with hundreds of awesome sports bars, Quo is highlighting one of our favorites for today’s Sports Bar Spotlight.
The Fifty/50
Tumblr media
This trendy bar in Wicker Park has been voted best sports bar in the country by several media outlets, including Maxim. I think this title is well-deserved and has a lot to do with the bar’s epic menu, multiple-story layout and high-energy environment. Each of the venue’s three floors have a different vibe and a different crowd. If you’re looking for a more loungey experience, settle in to one of the comfy couches on the basement floor. Or, if you want to surround yourself with boisterous sports fans and giant plasma TVs, reserve a table on the bar’s main floor. With two fully stocked bars, a solid craft beer selection and a dedicated staff, you’re sure to return.
IMPORTANT: It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of the game, but don’t make the mistake of forgetting to order food. This menu is absolutely stacked with everything from sandwiches to wings to their signature item--the triple secret patty--which comes on at least nine different burgers and is topped with basically anything you can dream of.
Drink specials at The Fifty/50 for tonight’s game include $2 Domestic Bottles and $4 Tullamore Dew shots. One shot for every goal? I think yes.
Cheers to calling in sick to work tomorrow. GO HAWKS!
