Noongar Language Classes
If you know of anyone who would like to learn Noongar, a new beginners class is starting at 9am on Saturday at 24 High Street Freo. They usually run for 10 weeks along school terms and are $20 a lesson. You need to commit to paying the full 10 weeks once you have had a couple of visits and know you want to join in, as Sharon Gregory the teacher travels from Armadale to take the class and so it has to be worth the trip. There are a few new beginners and so it is a good time to start. Pass it on if you know of anyone who is interested. A SPECIAL ONE-OFF EVENT! Replants invites you to join us in our beautiful Balga garden for a special gathering of friends who have taken part in cultural events with respected Noongar Elder Dr Noel Nannup. These include the Fireside Talks at Replants, the Ecoculture Spirit of Place events and trips out on country with Jaime. In acknowledgement of your support and of our shared enthusiasm for the natural environment and living Noongar culture we are hosting a night of celebration. This is our opportunity to once again gather around the fire; to reconnect, reflect and share our stories. Come and experience some special cultural activities, live art and music as well as a story from Noel. The evening will include a delicious vegetarian meal and you are encouraged to bring along some cake or biscuits for a shared supper. We will supply tea and coffee to keep you warm but please rug up! The Fireside Reunion will take place on Saturday 3rd August 2013, from 6:30pm onwards, at 96 Wray Avenue Fremantle. Only $20 per person (or $15 concession).
