Daniel should’ve lost in The Karate Kid |||

I’ve been thinking about this shit of a plot for a long time now, because it baffles me how easily it could’ve been fixed. I still love the movie a lot, because. Well. It gave us Mike Barnes and Terry Silver. But it’s shit, and I think we all will agree on that. The kinda romantic plotline is useless, and the tree shop thingy doesn’t lead nowhere. Terry Silver is the cartoony mwhahaha 😈 I’m eeeeevil guy, and you know what. I like it, but it’s still bad writing.

They did Daniel’s character dirty, and I don’t even like Daniel at all, but it could’ve been done so much better. The core idea should’ve been what Myagi said “It’s ok to lose to opponent, must not lose to fear”. And it would’ve been such a great great lesson for Daniel’s character.( But then again, I guess it would’ve changed the way he’s written in Cobra Kai a little.)

And I’m not saying the plot should’ve been all the same + Daniel should’ve lost. No, the whole Mike Barnes plot line needs to be fixed too in order for that to work. Daniel didn’t earn his victory, it’s not satisfactory. And if it is even a little, it’s only because they REALLY made him suffer through all kinds of stuff. (Literal abuse by another teen and a grown ass millionaire, not like school bullying 😭). The steaks got high and it was good, we got a huge champion going against Daniel. We have a good concept for the villain, a good lesson to teach, a good idea for the side plot with Myagi. I don’t know how they flopped so hard.

And I still can’t be mad at it because Mike Barnes is my favorite character of all time with the context Cobra Kai gave us. They did a real good job patching up the plot in Cobra Kai, btw. But it’s not enough to make the movie seem as good as the other two.

Actually hear me out about the prison waiting part. Because in my lil plot, though I moved the timeline a lot 😈🙏 Dutch went there much earlier, and Johnny did wait for some years, and it lowkey started ruining his life. Everyone around was like, dude, that’s gay get a life (also your momma dead). So he stopped visiting altogether, and got a somewhat average 80s dudebro life, dealing with a newborn, low income jobs, half ruined relationships and all the emotional baggage.

And Dutch was like completely abandoned there, getting letters from Bobby sometimes about his boner for Jesus and stuff. Around that time Kreese also went to the same prison, and since Dutch had literally no one rooting for him, he fell into an even worse pattern and became Kreese’s lil substance addict goon. And after some more years they were probably separated, Dutch’s life completely ruined, so he was like. Erm. Okay time to listen to Bobby and probs do something I have no one else left in my life. Also miss my gay karate situationship.

So he got clean, and was released on probation, his family like completely abandoning him too because he’s a felon. No money no job no bitches no family congratulations you’re like around 30+ something now. Depression 😔

it’s been 10ish maybe more years, maybe they’re closer to 40 actually, and no one cares anymore, except maybe for Bobby. And Dutch was like. Oh well. Time to visit my old school crush who abandoned me btw didn’t affect me at all haha. And Johnny already got his life somewhat together, trying to raise a kid, and open the dojo, and his felon totally not gay situationship shows up on the porch (with the same tattoo as Kreese, lil goon, because more trauma points)

also I headcanon his name to be Henry Dutch yaaaaa ☺️☺️☺️☺️ but no one calls him that except Kreese
