There's so many actually bad things that happened to Landon and you're worried about him being called "Mophead"??? My boy has claustrophobia and had not one but TWO girlfriends who constantly locked him up, was physically abused by his foster parents and being assaulted by classmates, was literally MURDERED by one, but we're gonna worry about nicknames ONLY from the bipolar girl??

But it's okay, guys! It's not ableism! We're just gonna hold the person struggling with a mental disorder to a much higher standard than we hold everyone else and also villainize her for not meeting it!!

Mind you Jed's also an abused, traumatized, non-white homeless kid but it's dead silent on an equally rich and even more spoiled white girl calling him Jackass Jed and bullying him (and don't get me started on what happened to Alyssa) ... what could possibly cause the difference between how two twins acting the same exact way are perceived ... what one difference would make people conveniently ignore what one twin did and crucify the other for it ...

Anyways, if you have to go out of your way to say it's not ableism but you're just gonna villainize the characters with mental health issues for doing the same things everyone around them is doing ... it is. It really is.

Why do more people not call out the way Lizzie treats Landon? Landon Kirby was an abused, traumatized foster kid. He was also a Person of Color (Aria Shahghasemi is Middle Eastern), and he came from a poor background. Meanwhile, Lizzie is a White girl from a privileged background. She has always had money, and privilege, and has gotten just about everything she's ever wanted. And here she is bullying and calling Landon names every opportunity she has for no reason other than she wants to be mean. Any other fandom would probably be calling Lizzie racist and classist for this. Instead, any criticism of her is chalked up to ableism, even though I only ever see people criticize Lizzie for treating other people like shit, not for having bipolar disorder. And as someone who has struggled with mental illness most of my life, I think she is terrible representation.
