choosing a title means new trope map!

my book doesn't fit cleanly into "enemies to lovers" or "second chance love" tropes, or really any tropes that are popular at the moment. but! here are some things you can expect to find in my dark war fantasy novel.

it follows a veteran who goes undercover amongst a ragtag group of cultists to prevent the resurrection of her best friend's killer.

the epic of gilgamesh brings me immense joy as a queer person bc it shows an overtly homoerotic relationship at the heart of one of the oldest recorded stories!

*5 minutes later*

enkidu died slowly from a gods-sent plague while gilgamesh had to watch, devastated and helpless. i will never again know happiness.

the novel i'm writing is called....lest she forget.

it might sound like a corny, even inappropriate, title but it's doing all the things i want the story's title to do. it's tapping into themes of war and trauma. the pronoun 'she' centers my protagonist who must cope with life after war. and the phrase's cautionary connotations ring true in some of the sadder and more tragic elements of the plot.

think i've decided on a name for my novel officially. i was resistant to claim it as anything other than a working title bc i know if i pursue traditional publishing it could be changed. but for now i have a title and it's giving me some motivation and appreciation for what the book is atm <3

what if i write an arthurian retelling but where guinevere and launcelot both want arthur too...what then. i fear the love triangle would be too powerful.

I genuinely hope that if we aren't going to see Osha, Mae, and Qimir in The Acolyte then I need them into books or comics. Do not shove this away from canon like something to be ashamed of. This story isn't over.
