Also, while I'm still on this post, I should add something! It was mentioned that the kind was kind and benevolent, but lonely. And who else is described as lonely in the same story?
Yeah ok byeeee
hii it's me again
this is like a demo for a thing I'm doing where I cover different theoretical aspects of silent salt and today it's between them and shadow milk!! yay
by the way this is all like complete speculation so please don't get upset. I could be wrong about like. all of this
So first off I wanna touch into that sun and moon imagery (thank you to this post for the inspiration!)

we can assume shadow milk here is the sun. at the top of the spire in episode eight we see a model of him. on his right is a sun. from the upturned nose, to the single eye open and in shadow, we can see he's meant to resemble the sun in some way, as well as the golden rays surrounding his soul jam in his background.
now, as for silent salt, they're meant to represent the moon.

they split apart the moon as well as having a crescent moon on the scroll introducing them (which could be a stretch but it's on none of the other beasts' scrolls so take it with a grain of salt. haha get it.)
But I think the thing that ties this all together is the townkeeper's riddle from episode eight.

Now we know that this was meant to reflect pure vanilla and white lily. they say it to each other here, and even explain it for gingerbrave and friends (and us the audience ofc)

pv and wl told us the two 'friends' are the sun and the moon, and who did we just say represented the sun and the moon? that's right, shadow milk and silent salt!
and pay close attention to the riddles language here.
Once upon a time, lived a king in a golden crown who knew not the day he was born. The king was kind and benevolent, but lonely, for such was his role.
so the sun here is male, just like shadow milk. and since shadow milk and pure vanilla have that whole soul-bound thing going on we can assume pure vanilla is the sun to white lily's moon too.
anyways notice how this gendered language is absent for the moon.
The other one had eyes of a calm sea but a barren heart. Those silvery eyes always yearned for a distant light.
nothing. almost as if the role of the moon could be played by two different genders.
(again this is just speculation)
Point is, this riddle is not just about white lily and pure vanilla. It's about shadow milk and silent salt, too.
And if white lily and pure vanilla learned this from the academy, a place we already assumed shadow milk had ties to, then yeah, it's gotta be connected to at least shadow milk.

But yea that's it thanks for reading

BRO ARE YOU KIDDING ME I WAS GOING CRAZY ALL THIS TIME???
OK SO BASICALLY YK HOW I ALWAYS ASSUMED SILENT SALT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE MOON CAUSE I THOUGHT THE CRESCENT MOON WAS VISIBLE ON THEIR LITTLE LABEL SCROLL?
THAT THING. RIGHT?? TURNS OUT THATS A FLAME!! AND I NOW KNOW THIS BECAUSE OF THE OTHER SILHOUETTE ART OF THEM
THE SAME FLIPPING CRESCENT SHAPED THING. WHY WOULD THEY DO THIS???

Yall I just had a fucking brain blast about the beast cookies
They don’t represent the seven deadly sins…
They represent symptoms of depression
Hear me out…
Mystic Flour, Apathy: not caring about anything and finding everything pointless
Burning Spice, Destruction; destructive tendencies towards others but also towards self
Shadow milk, deception; He acts like he’s cheerful and silly but is actually lonely and sad but tries to hide it
Eternal Sugar, Sloth; not having the motivation or energy to do anything
Silent Salt, Silence; not opening up about your struggles, or rather… suffering in silence

ok so they're all kind of acquainted as beasts then? this and the pre-battle dialogue with the other beasts i saw earlier seems to imply they're on somewhat friendly terms (but we don't yet know that with silent salt)
