To us it’s just a whole season we had to sit through without getting the storylines we were hoping for.
However, to Carmy it’s months of being deeply depressed, relapsing into trauma, and continuing to somehow find the will to wake up every day. I forgive him for it, and I think once he finds it in himself to really see how loved he is, he will work on repairing what he’s broken with the people in his life. He deserves the best and I hope he finds it.
And Sydney, I love her. The Bear is her life and she deserves to see all the success it will receive because of her. I hope she gets that rightful apology from Carmy and finds it in her to stay (as I suspect she would rather do anything else than actually leave).
Romantic or not, Syd and Carmy have been tied to each other in more ways than one, and they both deserve the opportunity to get that wonderful connection back between them.
#sydcarmy#the bear#carmy x sydney#carmy i love you and i know you have it in you to be better#sydney i love you too and i hope you get treated as well as you deserve#kind of a rant but not really#i wish people had more empathy for carmy

She's so pretty, it's not even funny, like it's a little insulting

honestly it’s so realistic to show him idealizing (at least temporarily) a short relationship because isn’t that all of us?
more rants on s3 (mainly why I think cla*re is on her way out)
okay, so, there's been lots of complaining about how much claire we saw this season (i love molly tbh, but that's a different story), howeverrr in truth, we actually only saw her once
almost every scene except the last one with the faks was carm's memories/fantasies (we don't even know if they happened or if he's just idealizing his short-lived situationship)
and then there are a few hints that claire is being phased out of the narrative, but we're seeing so much of her we're thinking she's being put front and center (here's the sleight of hand, distract you with one hand while the other does the trick), anyway these are the scenes that come to mind:
richie constantly saying WHO CARES whenever claire is brought up, sure he's pissed at carmy, but he's a main character and carmy's closest person after syd and nat, he should care, he cares about carm, but he's smart and knows claire is irrelevant now (he actually saw her leave, and her goodbye seemed pretty final to him)
nat trying to call claire and the phone not even recognizing that name, no matter how hard she screamed it, nothing, who dat? she's not part of the bear family, and the scene drives the point harder by having the call go to the bear instead, like claire is not going to save nat, or carm or the bear, she doesn't even go here!
claire herself! the only time we actually see her, the real actual claire, she quite explicitly tells the faks that it's over, that whatever fantasy they have about her and carm is not true (wouldn't be the first time neil sees something that isn't there, like the ballbreaker game character talking to him), they haven't even spoken, it's done. feels to me she's saying she'd like to be excluded from this narrative, her part of the story is over, now please leave (and ted, please get that checked out)
like, there's no way to make it more obvious, carmen is holding on to a memory, a ghost, he's being haunted not by claire but by his own guilt and trauma

I am definitely behind on The Bear compared to most people on here (just started the show last week and got to s3e02 yesterday), but I have a lot of thoughts and just want to put them out there.
I came into the show with little to no idea of what it was about. I didn’t even watch a trailer prior to starting the show. Just got a lot of tiktoks on my fyp talking about how they were excited to watch the new 3rd season so I finally gave the show a try. I must say, going in blind, I was most definitely deeply into season 1. The subject matter of The Bear was really not something I had deeply considered before (fine dining/being a chef), but I became so engrossed in learning about it from the show.
However season 2 is really what blew me away. “Fishes” is probably the best episode of TV I have a watched in a long, long time. As someone who also has a dysfunctional parent, seeing that behavior on a show really hit so hard for me. The awkward silences and tension leading to the inevitable blowup was so relatable and just so fucking real and raw.
And that is when I started to see the show from the writers’ perspective, from Carmy’s perspective. I really, deeply understood and related to why Carmy is the way that he is, and why he puts his blood, sweat, and tears into his work. He has more reason than most to do so. And that’s when even though I have been shipping sydcarmy since s1e01 (yes, I shipped them organically without being influenced by internet discourse that I hadn’t even looked at prior to watching the show, so that should say something) I am okay with them not getting in a romantic relationship in the show.
This is not one of those “we need more platonic relationships in media” soap boxing posts. What Syd and Carmy have is more than platonic, period. The symbolism and moments that the directors and writers have intentionally chosen to show truly display this and there’s little to no room for misinterpretation. Hell, even in the acting you can see that what they have is different. The way Carmy stares at Syd, the looks he gives her, I don’t believe it’s purely platonic. And that brings me to Claire, who is not just a distraction in the sense that Carmy forgot to do major things in the restaurant because he was focused on her (which is totally Carmy’s fault by the way). Claire is a reminder of Carmy’s dysfunctional family and his shitty relationship with his mom. The writers did not give Claire enough meat in her role to be the catalyst that pushes Carmy to break free from his trauma and be better. They gave that role to Sydney.
That being said, I don’t think Syd and Carmy getting together romantically is what will make the show complete. They are both damaged in different ways and damage + damage usually doesn’t equal a good romantic relationship.
What I do want, is for Syd and Carmy to get their partnership back in season 4. To work well the way they always have together, to focus on their baby that is the restaurant. Getting this partnership back is what I believe can push Carmy to be who he wants to be. We see multiple moments throughout the show where Carmy acts crazy with his team in a moment of weakness and then immediately regrets it. I can relate to that so much it almost hurts. The feeling of becoming like the parent who destroyed your childhood begets the worst kind of self-loathing.
I want to see Carmy’s personal growth and I want to see Sydney get over her fear of failure and get her so well-deserved success. As much as I deeply want to see them together, I am okay with satiating that need with fanfiction (lmao) as long as the show shows the character arcs that we deserve. I am rooting for Syd and Carmy in every which way, along with all the other characters whom I have grown to love as well.
#the bear#sydcarmy#carmy x sydney#richie jerimovich#tina marrero#everyone on the bear really#i hope the point i’m trying to make is clear and not totally jumbled lmao

would LOVE to see a fic on this… if it exists already or is in the works please please please let me know 😭
I just wanna share something my friend had said to me when we saw The Bear SZN 1 n 2 for the first. I remember she said "Oh, he's looking at her like he saw her before n he's shock to see her here (at The Beef)". This was SZN1 E1. I thought Carmy was just smitten by Sydney. You know, maybe he thought she was was pretty. I never thought about what my friend said.
Now, she finished SZN 3, and she decided to put a bunch of nonsense in my head like she did(or tried to do) with SZN 1 n 2. She's now saying "What if Carmy decided to check who got his blood orange dish and saw Syd" "what if Syd knows Carmy through magazines n Google. But, Carmy knows Syd because he actually saw her and remembered her from the restaurant in NYC " 😭😭😭 - This shit never crossed my mind. This is some outta pocket, otta box, and outta the ocean thinking 😂🤣😂🤣
I know my friend is crazy n extra. I wish she used social media 😭😭 But, her way of thinking made me feel stuff n thangs. She's trying to convince me that Carmy had a crush on Syd before they met in EP1 SZN 1 and that is why he never called her out on the "My dad use to eat here every Sunday" lie. She also thinks the reason y Syd calms Carmy's panic attack in Ep 9 SZN 2 was because he received the highest compliment from the woman who turns out to be the person who enjoyed his first meal (the follow his heart meal), who is now his new crush.
She used these things to back up her crazy theory.
1. Carmy was ready to give Syd what she wanted after 1 week of meeting her. "This is what you wanted" SZN 1:3
2. His sublet stares and smiles when he saw her or spoke to her.
3. The fact that he took it hard when she walked out on him n called him "a piece of shit".
4. Telling T that she dresses like Syd.
5. Gave Claire wrong number because he's over her. And things are going great with him and his new crush (Syd)
6. He's asking Syd "you happy" in SZN2:3. Because making her happy, makes him happy.
7. Then Claire used the Faks (who are now known has a family of haunting) to find Carmy
8. Carmy's past is now haunting him. My friend also said the haunting actually started when Claire enters Carmy's life, but season 3 is using the Faks to shed light on it. Therefore, she believes Carmy is having a hard time facing Claire, because he knew from the beginning he didn't like her, but decided to give her a chance to see if his crush for Syd would fade. The worst part is that Claires haunting comes with alot luggage (Carmys mom, his old boss, Mickey, and everything bad)So basically my friend thinks both Syd n Carmy have a crush on each other, but none of them know it, and they both refuse to be the first one to confess it. And they are now aware of the shit they will have to go through together if they decide to acknowledge that invisible string between them and still stick by each other.
Y'all my friend got me Fxcked all the way up after she finished season 3, and started telling me all them crazy stuff..... I need y'all to agree with me that she's crazyyyyyy. Maybe someone can use her crazy ideas and write a fanfic?? Please.

Hi. Can anyone recommend the best sydcarmy fics? I’m honestly desperate to see them together in writing at least.
At this point I’m okay with them not being “together” in canon. Just want their partnership back and for Claire to go away please 🙏
